The model was created from scratch to fill another market niche, where the Dodge Caliber and Suzuki SX-4 already rule the ball. The neat, impeccably calibrated, but extremely discreet Qashqai is the first truly European Nissan. Designed at Nissan NTCE in Cranfield, England, it took its final shape at a London-based design studio and is being produced on the assembly line at the Sunderland plant.
Qashqai is the first Nissan to be fully digitally engineered. Of course, digital calculations were confirmed by real experiments, but the number of "live" tests has decreased significantly.
The marketers came up with a creative approach to the name of the car. It sounds strange only to the Russian ear, but also to the European. The name "Qashqai" is taken from the name of an ancient Iranian, nomadic tribe living in Iran to this day. Qashqai received from the designers a long hood, a strongly sloping roofline, a massive bottom of the body, a protective body kit, an embossed window sill line and an impressive ground clearance of 20 cm.The front air intake and false radiator grille visually make the Qashqai wider. The large air intake lends a sporty accent, while the massive rear bumper evokes a sense of security and safety.
The salon is large enough, with a margin of space above the head and in the elbows, but without shocking. The designers tried to combine the atmosphere of a spacious family car and the mood of the pilot's cockpit, where control is the defining word. This is how the division into a working area for the driver and a recreation area for passengers appeared. The instrument cluster is designed with multiple function buttons centered around the center of the steering wheel. Finishing materials are selected with taste and imagination. The dark chocolate front panel, combined seat fabrics, leather and plastic texture - everything worked out not only visually, but also to the touch.
In Europe, the car is available with front and all-wheel drive, as well as with four engine options - two petrol (1.6 liters / 115 hp and 2.0 lira / 140 hp) and two diesel (1.5 liters / 106 hp and 2.0 TD / 150 hp). Separate words are deserved by the fact that Qashqai won the maximum number of stars - five - in Euro NCAP tests in terms of protection of adult passengers. This is the highest score achieved by a tested vehicle in the entire history of the program. At the same time, the Qashqai received the highest points in both tests: both in frontal and side collisions, as well as the maximum number of points for the reminder system for not wearing seat belts. The world saw the new generation of the Qashqai model in early November 2013. In December, the car has already begun to be manufactured on the conveyors of the British plant. For Russian motorists, the crossover is assembled in St. Petersburg. Interestingly, the Japanese abandoned the 7-seater version of the "+2" crossover. The front optics merged in an aggressive smile with the radiator grille, the bumper received many curved lines and holes, the rear part was completely changed. The body is 47 mm longer, 20 mm wider and 15 mm lower than its predecessor.
Qashqai 2014 has an exclusive grille shutter. They curtain as the speed increases and regulate the air flow. When overheating, the automatics are triggered and the curtains open, cooling the overheated parts.
The salon has noticeably changed: modern design, restrained classic colors, high-quality finishing materials. A lot of work has been done by engineers to improve ergonomics. The buttons and switches are conveniently located, the readings of the dashboard are perfectly readable. Even the little things that are invisible at first glance have been worked out. For example, the designers took care of such a parameter as the depth of the cup holders - now you can put a half-liter bottle in them so that it does not interfere with the driver's elbow. When designing the seats, the engineers used aerospace engineering to provide a comfortable fit and improve blood flow in the lower back. The layout of the rear has been significantly changed, as a result of which there is more space on the rear sofa in all directions, and the capacity of the cargo compartment has increased by 20 liters.
The infotainment screen has moved from the top to the front of the center console and received many more functions. The multimedia system now not only plays music from different media and shows a navigation map, but also works with online applications. So far, Nissan Connect only has a Facebook client, Google search and Trip Advisor. But company representatives promise that the number of programs available will continue to grow.
The electric power steering received two modes - traditional and sporty, when increased driver work is required. Numerous electronic systems deserve special attention: automatic valet parking, lane crossing control systems, blind spot monitoring, all-round cameras, etc.
As the base unit at Qashqai 2014, a 1.2-liter DIG-T gasoline turbo four with 115 horsepower is installed. An innovation in Qashqai 2014 is a system for removing body vibrations, thanks to which the car monitors the condition of the road surface, its waves. Sensing them, the electronics regulates the engine and brakes automatically.
In top-end configurations and for a surcharge, the car is equipped with a video review system. Electronics also monitors blind spots in order to prevent unexpected collisions. And modern LED headlights automatically switch to the right light.
The second generation Nissan Qashqai turned out to be more complete, stylish and of high quality.
The crossover (body J11) is offered on the Russian market with three power plants: a turbocharged gasoline engine 1.2 DIG-T (115 hp, 190 Nm), a gasoline "aspirated" 2.0 (144 hp, 200 Nm) and a 1.6 turbodiesel dCi (130 HP, 320 Nm). Two of these three units are also fitted under the hood of our range partner -. The 1.2 DIG-T petrol "turbo four" was previously installed mainly on Renault passenger cars, and Qashqai was almost the first of the crossovers to have this small, but very nimble engine at its disposal. It is aggregated with a 6-speed manual transmission or an Xtronic variator. The same two types of transmissions are available for the 2.0-liter engine. The diesel version of the Nissan Qashqai is equipped with a CVT only.
The use of a modular CMF platform with a high content of high-strength steels as a base allowed a lightweight body resting on a front independent suspension with MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link structure. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations are available. Only the Nissan Qashqai 2.0 modification is equipped with a plug-in all-wheel drive system with an interaxle electromagnetic clutch installed in front of the rear axle gearbox.
The average fuel consumption of a SUV with a 1.2 DIG-T turbo engine, according to the passport data, does not exceed 6.2 l / 100 km. A crossover with a 2.0-liter engine consumes a little more - about 6.9-7.7 liters, depending on the modification. HRA2DDT 1.2 DIG-T 115 HP
The four-cylinder petrol turbo 1.2 DIG-T, developed by Renault, replaced the 1.6-liter "aspirated". The power unit with the H5FT index is equipped with an aluminum cylinder block, direct fuel injection, a timing chain drive, and a variable valve timing system at the intake. Turbocharging allows 115 hp to be squeezed out of the small engine, which is available from 4500 rpm. At the same time, the maximum torque of 190 Nm is achieved already at 2,000 rpm, which helps to confidently start from a standstill.
MR20DD 2.0 144 HP
The MR20DD engine, which is an improved MR20DE unit, received a variable-length intake manifold, a direct injection system, phase shifters on the intake and exhaust valves.
R9M 1.6 dCi 130 hp
The turbocharged 1.6 dCi diesel is based on its predecessor - 1.9 dCi (F9Q index). Up to 75% of the parts used in the new engine were developed from scratch. The design of the unit provides for the presence of direct injection with portioned fuel supply, a variable geometry turbocharger, an exhaust gas recirculation system, a variable displacement oil pump, and a Start / Stop system. Peak torque of the 1.6 dCi 130 motor is 320 Nm (from 1750 rpm). The emission level of 129 g / km allows it to comply with the Euro 5 environmental standard.

Since its appearance - in October 2006 at the Paris Motor Show - the Nissan Qashqai crossover has managed not only to create a "new subclass of cars", but also to become an absolute leader in the segment it created. Since then, the segment of "compact urban crossovers" has been rapidly developing, but it "Pioneer" - Nissan Qashqai, as before, confidently "takes its top lines" (in terms of the number of copies sold).
This car at its "birth" turned out to be so successful that over time it only needed "cosmetic restyling" - which was carried out at the end of 2009, which, predictably, fueled the naturally fading interest of motorists to "Qashqai".
The appearance of this car demonstrates "confidence and pressure" - endowing it with all the "attributes" of a crossover (ie, "fashionable", but looking like a "full-fledged SUV": a high five-door body "a la hatchback"; small front and rear overhangs and plastic protection from unpainted plastic around the perimeter.
Nissan Qashqai, of course, has already become familiar on Russian roads, but it never ceases to delight with its “simple unisex design”. Front lighting equipment with "rectangular" headlamps is located at the extreme points of the body, a powerful bumper with a lower additional air intake is composed of two parts (the upper one is painted in body color and harmoniously contrasts with the lower one - in a crossover way made of unpainted plastic and beautiful "eyes" for foglights) ... The false radiator grille is covered with an openwork mesh and bears a chrome insert with the Nissan logo. The hood with two characteristic ribs, heavily "overwhelmed" front pillars, an almost flat roofline, lean stern ... Profile - with harmonious sidewalls, "circular" wheel arches (accommodating R16-R18 discs) and a high sill line. The roofline and the glazing line that soars upwards - "form" a powerful C-pillar, giving the stern of this crossover a special solidity.
Well, the rear part of "Qashqai" - with a large luggage compartment door, neat shades of parking lights with fashionable LED lamps, a bumper (protected by plastic - like a "serious SUV".
The dimensions of the 1st generation "Kashkaya" are: length - 4330 mm, width - 1780 mm, height - 1615 mm, wheelbase - 2630 mm, ground clearance - 200 mm.
Inside, the Nissan Qashqai showcases a simple and functional cabin for five passengers. By the way, for those for whom “five seats are not enough” there is a seven-seat version called “Qashqai + 2” (a separate review is devoted to it).
The three-spoke steering wheel fits perfectly in the hands, the steering column is adjustable in height and depth. Informative instruments with a large TFT monitor of the on-board computer, a front dashboard and a center console with simple lines and a classic arrangement of controls. The front seats are designed for a quiet ride (not a sporty profile) with a soft cushion, but thanks to a good range of adjustments, they allow the driver and passenger to sit comfortably. In the second row, there is enough space for passengers of average build (there is enough legroom, the ceiling is high, it is comfortable to sit).
The trunk allows you to transport from 410 to 1513 liters, depending on the "layout" of the rear seats.
Specifications. In Russia, Nissan Qashqai is offered with gasoline units: 1.6 liters. (114 hp) with 5 manual gearboxes; 1.6 l. (117 hp) with CVT and 2.0 liters. (141 hp) with 6 manual gearbox or CVT variator.
Nissan Qashqai 1.6 is a priori front-wheel drive, the version with a 2.0-liter engine can have front-wheel drive (2WD) or full (4WD) with Nissan's proprietary ALL MODE 4X4 system.
The front suspension is independent - MacPherson struts, the rear multi-link is also independent. Disc brakes with ABC, Brake Assist and EBD, with ESP stabilization system, electric power steering.
In terms of driving performance - the Nissan Qashqai 1.6 (114 hp / 117 hp) 2WD is a typical front-wheel drive hatchback with an energy-intensive suspension that is loyal to poor road surface. The impression is somewhat spoiled by the "artificiality" of the steering (without sharpness and intelligible feedback), and sometimes the engine power is not enough ... But the Nissan Qashqai 2.0 (141 hp) with the ALL MODE 4X4 all-wheel drive system is already much more interesting and recklessly - thanks to the settings, this car can be with "forced" all-wheel drive (copes with small off-road) or with an automatically connected rear axle when the leading front wheels slip (a good helper on a slippery winter road).
Prices and equipment. In terms of the number of trim levels on the Russian market, Nissan Qashqai ranks first among compact crossovers in 2013 (although Nissan representatives themselves often refer to it as a “hatchback of the European C-class”).
Already in the initial configuration for the Russian market, the 2013 Nissan Qashqai has: air conditioning, 2 DIN radio with CD MP3 AUX and bluetooth and 4 speakers, heated electric mirrors, 4 power windows, heated front seats, on-board computer, ABS and ESP systems , 6 airbags. And the most "packed" equipment boasts: dual-zone climate control, music from Bose, all-round camera with a 5-inch color display and Nissan Connect system, cruise control, xenon, panoramic glass roof, keyless entry, rain and light sensors ... and other "chips".

The most affordable all-wheel drive Nissan Qashqai is offered at a price of 986,000 rubles (4WD 2.0-141 hp with 6 manual gearboxes), and "replacing" the manual transmission with a variator will increase its cost by 55,000 rubles. In the next configuration - SE (which is 60,000 rubles more expensive than XE) added: rain sensor, climate control, 16 ″ alloy wheels and cruise control. In the SV configuration for an additional 50 thousand rubles, you can get a lot of "decorations": 18 "alloy wheels, aluminum pedals, tinted rear windows, roof rails and a panoramic roof. The prefix "+" adds to the equipment of Kashkai: already 6 speakers, a rear-view camera with a color display and a multifunctional system Nissan Connect, and the price increases by 26,000 rubles.
