In the VAZ 2114, as in any other car, the dimensions (another name for marker or parking lights) are lighting devices that are located on the front and rear of the car (on the sides). They serve to indicate the dimensions of a particular car in conditions of insufficient visibility. Another purpose of marker lights is parking lighting.

It is the direct responsibility of the driver to make sure that the bulbs in the headlights and side lights of the car are in good working order. If the lighting fixtures in the car are faulty, then this is considered a violation for which the traffic police inspector can issue a fine. To prevent this from happening, it is required to periodically check the serviceability of the lamps and, if necessary, replace them with new ones.

What lamps are in the dimensions of the VAZ 2114

The standard equipment of VAZ 2114 cars provides for the installation of such lamps in the dimensions and front / rear lights:

  1. Front dimensions - W5W;
  2. Stoplights / side light - P21 / 5W.

Recently, users are increasingly changing standard light bulbs in the dimensions of the VAZ 2114 to LED ones, since they have a much longer resource, consume less energy and shine in a beautiful color. In order for diodes to give spectacular side lights of a bluish tint, weak 1-5 diode lamps will not work. It is better to use 12-15 diode.

They will give a bright white glow during the daytime, and at night this glow will be blue-white. It is advisable to replace with such lamps all the position lights at the same time, or at least the front or rear lights on both sides. In this case, the car looks organic, and the difference in the shades of the glow of the dimensions will not mislead other road users.

Reasons for the failure of the marker lamps

There may be several reasons why a particular light bulb of the dimensions of the VAZ 2114 has stopped burning, namely:

  • open circuit (voltage is lost on the headlights);
  • the side light bulb for some reason is out of order;
  • the corresponding fuse has blown;
  • the fuse block is out of order;
  • the light switch is broken.

Most often, the cause of the breakdown is a malfunction of the light bulb itself. Fixing such a malfunction is quite simple, it is important to know exactly how to do it.

Replacing overall bulbs VAZ 2114

Removal and replacement of front position lamps.

    • the hood opens;
    • the cartridge of the marker lamp is removed;

  • the lamp is being replaced;
  • the cartridge with a new lamp is installed in its original place.

For fastening the cartridge in the VAZ 2114, latches are not provided. It will be possible to remove it if you pull it out of the headlight with force.

Removal and replacement of marker lamps in the rear light

The replacement process involves the sequential execution of the following steps:

  • trunk opens;
  • to gain access to the headlight, the carpet covering it from the inside is removed;
  • the contacts of the board are disconnected;
  • the bar is removed (on it are all the rear light bulbs).

A special latch is provided for fixing the board. To pull out the board, you need to snap it off.

It is replaced with a new marker light bulb (the marker bulbs on the VAZ 2114 are the smallest, so it will be difficult to confuse them);
The board with a new light bulb is installed in its original place.

If replacing the bulb in the front/rear clearance did not work and the marker lights still do not work, then you need to check the appropriate fuses or look for other causes of the malfunction.

Other malfunctions and their elimination (rear and front dimensions of the VAZ 2114)

Quite often, a blown fuse becomes the cause of an inoperative parking light. You can fix the problem by replacing the fuse that seems suspicious with a new one. If the situation is corrected, then the cause of the breakdown was precisely in this element, and if not, then it will be necessary to exclude such a moment as an open circuit.

The power supply to the side lights of the VAZ 2114 comes with the headlights. If the headlights (front or rear) do not light up, then it is most likely that an open circuit has occurred. To identify and eliminate such malfunctions, you will need to contact a specialist who has special equipment and relevant skills.

Separately, it is worth dwelling on how to check the button for turning on the parking lights. To understand whether it was the cause of the malfunction, you should remove the button from the panel, and then close the wires. In the event that the lamps light up, it is the button that is the cause of the breakdown and it will need to be replaced.

From the above information, it can be seen that almost any cause of damage to the dimensions on the VAZ 2114 is quite simple to eliminate. It is important to do this in a timely manner, since not only the safety of the driver and passengers, but also the general situation on the road while driving depends on the serviceability of these lights. Lack of dimensions can mislead drivers of other vehicles and, as a result, create an emergency.

When should the side lights be turned on?

The driver is required to turn on the dimensions whenever there is a deterioration in visibility on the road, as well as when he passes through a tunnel.

Conditions for reduced visibility include:

  • heavy rain/snow;
  • fog;
  • twilight/predawn.

It is very important to turn on your parking lights when driving in fog. At the slightest sign of its appearance (especially at night), you need to turn on the dimensions, indicating the boundaries of your own vehicle.

If you are forced to stop on the side of the road in conditions of insufficient visibility, be sure to turn on the parking lights, and in the dark, also an emergency gang. Such actions will protect you and help other road users not to get into a situation when a car suddenly appears in front of them from the fog / darkness.

Is your low beam or high beam light on your Ford Focus? Or the front turn signal bulb failed? It is possible that one of the bulbs in your front optics has burned out, which you just need to replace with a new one. We hope you find our detailed guide helpful. As you can see, changing the headlight bulbs on Ford Focuses is not so difficult. So any driver can do it on their own.

Cars, as their name implies, are designed to indicate the size of the car at night. Moreover, sometimes only these lights let you know about the presence of your car on the road in the dark.

Even if we disregard the possibility of being fined for a non-burning "size", you should not neglect the timely replacement of the size lamps - otherwise you have a real risk of being "caught up" in the dark, especially on a country road.

The procedure for replacing the side light bulbs is very simple (in most cases) and does not require special skills.

Let's try to give a kind of general "recipe" on how to replace the parking light bulb yourself. Most motorists do this "maintenance" casually, and many have a supply of the required bulbs in the glove compartment of the car.

Replacing the headlight bulb is very easy.

In order to save fuel and reduce the load on the generator, daytime running lights are now often included in this circuit, which complicates it quite a lot.

You might be wondering if it is possible to use LED lamps in a car? Read the details

The standard wiring option is quite simple and consists of the following elements:

  • circuit breakers;
  • lamps for front and rear marker lights;
  • central or key switch;
  • Let's take a closer look at the first two elements.

Circuit breakers

Sometimes it is blown fuses that are the reason why the marker lights do not light on one side or another.

There are usually two fuses in the circuit, on the left and right sides separately. Since the light bulbs consume little power (4-5 W each), the fuse rating is small, only 5-7.5 A.

Where are the taillight fuses located?

In the same place as the rest, in a single block. On most modern cars, this unit is located under the instrument panel next to the steering column, or, more often, at the bottom left, under the plastic cover.

In the latter case, it is enough to remove the cover that protects the block, mounted on latches. On the back of the cover, as a rule, there is a sticker with information about which circuit this or that fuse protects, indicating its rating.

The biggest inconvenience in this case may be insufficient knowledge of English - it is on it that inscriptions are usually made, even on Korean and Japanese cars.

Lamps

Externally, the front dimensions light bulb is marked W5W, but today marker lights are increasingly being used.

Their advantage over incandescent lamps is greater durability, and the price of both depends largely on the manufacturer. The most famous products are Philips, Osram, Tesla.

What is the new generation 4Drive LED bulbs? right now!

About LED bulbs for position lights, see the video:

Moreover, as the “Behind the wheel” test showed, expensive products do not always justify their price.

Also, quite often, the front dimensions are equipped with light bulbs with a metal base, but this, one might say, is the “last century”.

For the rear marker lights, the most common lamp is with two spirals - 21 and 5 (or 4) watts.

The coil with a power of 21 W lights up when the brake is pressed, i.e. the light bulb in this case serves as a brake light, while the spiral of less power works as a marker light.

Just like with any other lamp, purchasing a more expensive product does not guarantee any exceptional durability.

Lamp replacement

Replacing the front clearance

The most common option for connecting a block headlight is the presence of a single power connector - for ease of dismantling the headlight itself. In this case, the power wires of all consumers (lamps, electric corrector) are located inside the case.

However, often consumers are connected separately. Before replacing, the main thing is to determine the location of the marker bulb so that you do not mistakenly remove, say, the headlight corrector.

If you're changing bulbs for the first time, it's best to start on the right side. The battery is usually located on the left, which interferes with both visibility and operation.

The replacement process itself is simple - pull out the lamp together with the cartridge from the headlight, for which turn the latter counterclockwise. The wires can be left on if they are long enough to work comfortably.

It is important to pay attention to the condition of the cartridge - are there any traces of reflow, which indicates overheating. Subsequently, a defective cartridge can cause a short circuit, therefore, if necessary, do not postpone its replacement until later.

Replacing the back gauge

To provide access to the taillight lamps, you need to remove the hatches installed in the trunk lining.

To replace the tail light bulbs, it is usually necessary to remove the bulb board from the tail light. It is mounted on latches, which are carefully bent with a flat screwdriver. There is no need to unplug the wires.

There are also flashlights, in which each lamp is connected separately. In this case, remove the desired cartridge from the socket by turning it slightly.

After replacing the lamps of both front and rear dimensions, you should check their performance, for which you can not install the cartridge or board directly into the lamp. It is enough just to check that there is no short circuit to the "mass".

An important point - always when replacing dimensions, pay attention to the condition of the cartridges and contacts - the fuse only protects the circuit from a short circuit, and wiring fires often occur due to poor contact.

February 5, 2018

Driving a car with non-working “dimensions” is prohibited by the rules - any traffic police officer who has recorded such a violation has the right to issue a fine to the driver. To replace a side light bulb that has burned out and went out, you do not need to visit a car service - every motorist can perform this operation. How to properly replace, describes the further instructions.

When is the replacement?

Vehicle manufacturers do not provide for clear regulations for these works. There are only 3 reasons why motorists change the parking light bulbs to new ones as needed:

  1. The light elements are out of order - they burned out or went out from external mechanical influence.
  2. The owner of the car decided to install more modern LED bulbs.
  3. The headlights were getting too dim.

The first reason is clear and needs no explanation. Installing LEDs is a useful operation, since these elements shine well, last a long time and consume much less electricity. The main thing is to observe the polarity of the contacts during the replacement process, otherwise the new light bulb may fail or the fuses will blow.

As a rule, a motorist does not pay attention to a decrease in the luminous flux of navigation lights until he changes one burned-out lamp of dimensions. Then it becomes noticeable how much the old element burns dimmer than the new one. The reason is the internal darkening of the basement glass from the deposited metal particles emanating from the heated coil. Therefore, it is recommended to update the old "dimensions" in pairs.

To replace two bulbs of side lights, you do not need to create special conditions and drive the car into the garage - the work is done in any convenient place. What needs to be done:

  1. Disconnect the "negative" terminal of the battery.
  2. Dismantle components and parts that block access to the head light units from the engine compartment.
  3. Remove the plastic protective caps that cover the rear of the blocks where the lights are located.

To change the marker light bulb, you need to get to the headlights from the back side, having previously dismantled the interfering elements. Depending on the make and model of the car, there may be an air filter housing, a battery, cooling system pipes, and so on near the headlight units. You should also remove decorative plastic panels and overlays.

Lamp Replacement Instructions

Inside the headlight blocks, different cars have 2 types of lamps and connectors - old and new (restyled). Replacing the bulb of the side lights of the pre-styling type is carried out as follows:

  1. When you get to the back of the headlight, disconnect the power supply connector to the light element. It is not required to disconnect blocks of powerful headlight lamps.
  2. Grab the connector and rotate it 45-60° counterclockwise. Remove element from slot.
  3. Gently pull out the light bulb by the base, without rotating around its own axis.
  4. Insert a new one in its place, making sure that the contacts align correctly.
  5. Connect the wires and check the performance of the new part, then assemble the block in reverse order.

Note. On various models of vehicles, elements of the old type can be rotated in different directions - for and counterclockwise.

During the installation of the purchased lamp, you should not take the base with your bare hands, which is warned by the instructions attached to each product. Before installation, wrap the glass flask with a soft cloth or put on cloth gloves.

Updated versions of elements differ in overall dimensions and installation method. The lamp is replaced in the same way, only disconnecting the connectors and turning the cartridge is not necessary - the part is removed from the socket along with the wires.

Another thing is that access to the light bulb is often limited - you can’t take the cartridge with your hand. In such cases, there are 2 options:

  • use a special tool;
  • first pull out the large headlight bulb, then get the marker light bulb.

The owners of some cars use the free space behind the headlights to install a gearbox that works in liquefied gas engine power systems. Removing the unit to replace the lamp can be quite difficult.

Changing the light elements of the rear "dimensions" is much easier. The main work is the removal of plastic and fabric lining from the side of the luggage compartment. Light bulbs are pulled out of the cartridges in the manner described above.

Replacing bulbs in the front headlight Daewoo Matiz

The rupture of a spiral of light bulbs is a fairly common occurrence, in this report I will write how to replace burnt out lamps of the front position lights on a Daewoo Matiz. This manual can also be used to replace lamps. head light The only difference is the lamps used.

I decided to use light-emitting diode (LED) analogues of lamps, not only because they are low-power, but primarily due to the fact that, according to manufacturers, they have an incomparably longer service life compared to conventional lamps. In the process, I took several photos, which I invite you to familiarize yourself with. 🙂

Of the tools and materials, we need a Phillips screwdriver and a lamp with a W5W base. For head light you will need a lamp with an H4 base.

First of all, it is necessary to remove the plastic trim holding the front headlight unit. To do this, you need to unscrew just one screw using a Phillips screwdriver.

Rice. 1 Removing the plastic cover

The headlight assembly is held in place with three 10mm bolts. It is easiest to unscrew the one that is in plain sight, the other two, located under the front of the headlight, are more difficult to unscrew.
