Ford, which is constantly producing updated Focus cars, has, as always, pleased motorists with a high level of comfort, safety, stunning appearance and, of course, affordability. The new 2019 Ford Focus 3 restyling has received a huge number of innovations, including a completely unique radiator grille and the front of the car as a whole.

Which, in turn, sets it apart from all other similar body variations, but also brings some inconvenience to the functioning of aerodynamic systems. Depending on the engine installed under the hood, the weight of the car ranges from one thousand three hundred seven kilograms to one thousand three hundred sixty two.


The interior is designed in the classic style of a full sedan, which can accommodate up to five passengers at a time. It is worth highlighting those points that distinguish this salon from the inside of the sedan. * In order for this classification to be perceived with a bang, the previous engine should also be mentioned. Previously, the car had a two-liter engine with 150 horsepower, equipped exclusively with a robotic gearbox. Such a unit gave the first hundred in nine and a half seconds, with a maximum output of two hundred kilometers per hour. Fuel consumption included no more than 6.4 liters. After restyling, this car model is not equipped with such a “device”.

* The engine is rightfully considered the flagship EcoBoost with a volume of one and a half liters, combined with a power of one hundred and fifty horsepower. Functioning that is only possible in a “friendly” company with a robotic gearbox. A more detailed description is given in the sedan review.

C1– an unchanged Ford platform, taken as a basis and Focus restyling, allowing the station wagon to be equipped with front-wheel drive combined with an independent suspension, the layout of which is very similar to that of a hatchback.


Equipment and cost of Ford Focus 3 Wagon

The Ford Focus 3 Wagon is available in two main variations:

* SYNK Edition;

* Titanium;

It is worth noting that the basic equipment of the station wagon is the same as in the sedan version. The pricing policy for the car, after hitting the shelves of car dealerships in the summer of 2015, will be eight hundred and forty thousand Russian rubles (this is for a 1.6 liter engine with a power of 150 horsepower, in combination with mechanics). The highest possible vehicle configuration will cost from one million forty five thousand Russian rubles.

The five-door Ford Focus 3 Wagon made its international debut in January 2010 at the North American Auto Show in Detroit, surpassing its predecessor in all respects.

Official sales of the car, including on the Russian market, began in May 2011, although its mass production was launched at the end of 2010.

In the spring of 2015, the restyled Ford Focus 3 station wagon was presented at the Geneva Auto Show, and it really changed seriously - its appearance and interior were corrected, the list of equipment offered was expanded, and new engines were added. It appeared in Russia after several months.

Exterior

From the outside, the new 2017-2018 Ford Focus 3 station wagon looks attractive, modern and moderately respectable, but does not attract too much attention - its appearance is too familiar on the roads.

Although there are plenty of interesting solutions in its design, just look at the front part, looking at those around with the piercing gaze of lighting equipment and the grinning “mouth” of the radiator grille a la Aston Martin.



And from other angles, the 3rd generation Ford Focus, despite its universal body, demonstrates harmonious outlines: an expressive, not devoid of dynamism, silhouette with a sloping roof, muscular wheel arches and a monumental stern, and a strong rear, on which graceful lights and a neat bumper are concentrated.

Inside, the 2017 Ford Focus 3 station wagon leaves an extremely positive impression, and this concerns not only the beautiful and stylish design, diluted with sporty notes, but also the quality of workmanship - the car’s interior is made of high-quality materials, and all its elements are perfectly matched to each other.

The voluminous front panel, although it takes up a lot of space, looks great - in the central part it is headed by an 8.0-inch multimedia system screen, below which there are laconic music controls and an elegant but complex microclimate unit.

The sculpted multifunctional steering wheel and the impressive, but not very convenient instrument cluster with abstruse bell shapes and an on-board computer display overloaded with information fit well into the interior decoration of the Focus III station wagon.

The 2016-2017 Ford Focus Station Wagon “apartment” cannot boast of an excess of free space, but all riders without exception will be at ease in the car (although only two can sit in the back).

The front seats of the model are perfectly profiled and equipped with wide adjustment intervals (in top versions, with electric drive). The shape of the second row of seats does not cause any complaints, and for greater convenience there is an armrest and cup holders.

Characteristics

In terms of its dimensions, the Ford Focus III Wagon belongs to the C-class according to the European classification: its overall length is 4,556 mm, of which 2,648 mm is the wheelbase, the height fits in at 1,505 mm, and the width does not go beyond 1,823 mm. When traveling, the station wagon weighs from 1,473 to 1,655 kg, depending on the version.

The trunk of the Ford Focus 3 station wagon is average by segment standards - its volume does not exceed 476 liters in standard condition. The back of the rear sofa is transformed into several asymmetric sections, which increases the volume of the cargo compartment to 1,502 liters. In the niche under the raised floor there is a defective spare tire and a set of tools.

On the Russian market, the 2017 Ford Focus station wagon is available with two four-cylinder gasoline engines. The first option is a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine with distributed injection, developing 105 or 125 horsepower (150 or 159 Nm of rotational potential, respectively), the second is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with direct “feed”, producing 150 liters .With. and 240 Nm of peak torque.

Atmospheric units work in conjunction with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed PowerShift robot, and the most powerful power plant comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The utility version of the Ford Focus station wagon is built on a front-wheel drive platform with a transversely based engine and extensive use of high-strength steel in the body structure.

At the front, the car is equipped with an independent MacPherson-type suspension system, and at the rear – a multi-link architecture. All wheels of the car are equipped with disc brakes, which are supplemented with ventilation in the front part.

Regardless of the modification, the five-door sports a rack-and-pinion steering complex with electric power steering and progressive characteristics.

I haven’t written anything here for a long time, but I finally decided to write a detailed observation and comparison with the previous car!

I will break my observation into several points for better understanding. Once again I want to remind you that the logbook is personal and here I am expressing an exclusively personal opinion.

Exterior, interior and everything related to car design

I fell in love with the car when I first met it and is still remembered!

The Ford designers are of course great fellows, since I didn’t like the 3 Focus at all.

The interior has also been slightly improved. Everything is clear and looks nice, although it tends to get dirty and squeak on bumps (I think I’ll have to return to this more than once).

For the design I give it 5-. Minus for the rear of the sedan. Somehow it didn't turn out very well. It was prettier even on the pre-Restyle.

Comfort, capacity, convenience

Let's start with sound insulation.

Still, if you compare it with the previous car (Opel Astra j), the Shumka is worse and noticeably worse. At a speed of 90 km/h it becomes no longer comfortable to communicate in a car. On Astra j this happened above 120 km/h.

p.s. Although there is a caveat here, the bottom of the Astra was filled with liquid Shumka in the cabin.

Compared to the pre-Restayl, the Shumka has become better.

Trunk capacity... it's definitely a pain. I don’t even want to write too much here. The most uncomfortable trunk I've ever seen. Very small opening. Transporting anything more or less large is simply not realistic. Although according to the numbers the trunk is larger than that of a hatchback, in reality this is not the case. The first time I noticed this was when I couldn’t fit more than two R16 wheels into the trunk... It might be convenient to carry something long and not wide (for example, plasma), but I haven’t had to yet.

p.s. On the Astra j hatchback, 4 R17 wheels easily fit into the trunk in a standing position.

In terms of convenience, everything here is quite up to par.

You quickly get used to everything. I quickly got used to even the inferior keyless access; it does not provide any convenience when you don’t take the key out of your pocket at all, but do everything by touch. And here you also need to point out the only plus of the sedan trunk, which is opening it with a button :)

At first I cursed at the seats a lot, after a long trip my lower back hurt a lot, but fortunately it went away. Apparently it's a matter of habit.

Engine, dynamics, consumption, ground clearance

Probably the most interesting for many.

The 1.6 125 engine with PS is quite enough for the city; the needle usually does not rise above 3 thousand. True, above 3 thousand there is no point in raising it, there is only a lot of sound. On long trips, the lack of traction is already felt quite well; confident overtaking at speeds over 120 is forgotten like a bad dream.

If there is no need for overtaking, then the car feels confident at speeds of under 190 km/h according to the speedometer (gps 170 km/h). I don't want to go faster anymore.

The steering is also quite adequate and understandable, zero feels great, you don’t have to steer while driving, there was some kind of problem with this in the previous car.

At first I was very confused by it, the car looks more like a crossover than a city sedan, it’s very jacked up! Compared to the Kia Ceed, it is one and a half times higher! But over time I got quite used to it. And in winter it turns out to be very convenient! For the summer, of course, I want it lower, but this is possible later. There you can also look for R18 wheels for the summer.

I would also like to write about engine vibrations.

Yes, they are. The engine can be felt quite strongly, put your hand on the hood and you will understand everything. I noticed that many people find fault with the vibration at idle when releasing the gas (some have more, some have less). They just exist and that's all.

I checked this vibration on 3 cars, all of them had it. As for me, the question is not worth the candle. Apparently this is a feature of this engine.

Here's a story about the new Ford Focus 3. It has its advantages in terms of design and its disadvantages in terms of capacity and sound insulation.

Among the modifications to the car, I’m starting to think about the underbody noise, although now I’ll change the shoes for the summer, but we’ll see.
