A car battery, without which the “iron horse” will not budge, tends to discharge, and the smaller the battery capacity, the more often this happens. In this regard, it is important not only to buy the “right” battery, but also a high-quality charger for it. In the automotive market, battery chargers are presented in a wide range, so choosing one is not an easy task. The rating of chargers for car batteries 2016 can help with this, which presents only the best devices that have received well-deserved recognition from both experts and drivers. When buying a charger for a battery, it is worth considering many factors, while it is worth knowing what types of batteries exist, in principle.

Top 5 Best Car Battery Chargers

There are two main types of chargers designed for charging - a simple type charger designed to recharge the battery, and a starter charger that can start the car engine when the battery is completely discharged. Of course, the devices of the second type are more functional, but they have a higher price, a significant drawback is also more weight. They have chargers and various mechanisms. Previously, transformer devices were massively used, having large dimensions due to the transformer and rectifier. Today, impulse chargers with short circuit protection are very popular. They are somewhat more expensive, but this does not stop car owners. It is these chargers that were included in our rating of car battery chargers 2016:

Undoubtedly, the devices that you prefer are not included in our rating, but this does not mean that the chargers we offer are considered ideal. In this case, this is the choice of experts and car owners. There are other chargers that meet the quality and safety requirements, while buying devices, you should not fully trust the declared characteristics, but it is advisable to buy already tested devices.

A good starter charger is a guarantee that your car battery will always be charged with high quality and for a long time, and in the cold season it will help to ensure engine start if the battery capacity drops sharply due to natural weather reasons. In order to purchase a ROM that matches the financial capabilities and needs of motorists, there is our rating of car battery chargers 2016-2017. It presents the 10 most popular models from which it is possible to choose the most suitable.

At the very top of the top ten is the Ctek MXS 7.0 model. Feedback from motorists indicates that it is the best of all in terms of performance, ease of use, as well as price. Its cost cannot be called low, but the price is quite acceptable: up to 15,000 rubles.

It is noteworthy in that, before proceeding, it is possible to conduct a preliminary test on what level of capacity the battery can hold. Important advantage: this charger works effectively in cold and frosty conditions, coping with a decrease in the electrolyte level in the battery . With it, you can restore the potential of the battery even after it has been deeply discharged.

The Ctek MXS 7.0 ROM is designed for 12-volt devices with a maximum capacity level of up to 120 A / h and a current of 7 amps.

Its main advantages are the following:

  • the case is sealed, there is excellent protection against dust, dirt and moisture;
  • there is an automatic charging mode in 8 stages;
  • functions well in harsh climates;
  • The company gives a five-year warranty.

In second place is the Ctek M300 device, which belongs to professional equipment. It is designed to charge not only car batteries, but also batteries of various types of marine vessels.

A distinctive feature of Ctek M300 is that it is not a generator of galvanic currents. This makes it completely safe for its possible contact with the metal parts of the vehicle.

This starter charger has a special mode in which it can work so quietly that it can be used at night, without compromising the sleep of the owner of the vehicle. Here, too, there is an automated charging program in several steps or stages, and this is what makes it possible to “reanimate” deeply discharged batteries.

  • designed for 12 volt batteries;
  • permissible battery capacity level - 500 A / h, current - 25 A;
  • high level of security, you can charge the battery in an open space;
  • almost silent;
  • high-quality charging for a long time;
  • manufacturing warranty for 5 years.

Of the minuses, only a high price is noted, due to the possibility of using it on high-level equipment (30,000 rubles and more).

The rating of chargers for car batteries in 2017 and 2016 continues with the Ctek MXS 5.0 Polar ROM. Like the two previous chargers, it is produced in Sweden, and its main advantage is the ability to carry out the battery charging process at low temperatures - up to -30°C. The package also includes a cable with a high degree of insulation - for operation in extreme weather conditions.

The automatic charge cycle consists of eight stages, which means the ability to "bring to life" deep-discharged car batteries.

Main parameters and advantages:

  • designed for a 12 volt battery with a permissible capacity level of 110 A / h;
  • current - maximum 5 A;
  • well protected from external influences;
  • effectively charges the battery in low temperature conditions;
  • strength, quality, durability;
  • company guarantee 5 years.

The only drawback is that this ROM is not intended for batteries with a very high capacity, which limits its use.

In fourth place is the German start-charger Bosch C7. A good option in terms of quality and functionality with protection against accidental short circuits. On cold start it works well.

Bosch C7 main parameters:

  • they can charge both liquid acid and 12 and 24 V;
  • permissible battery capacity levels: if it is 12 V, then 230 A / h, if 24 V, then 120 A / h - at a current of 7 A;
  • well protected from external factors, as well as from short circuits;
  • there are fasteners on the ROM, with their help you can fix it, for example, on the wall.

The only drawback: the package does not provide a special adapter in order to connect Bosch to the car's cigarette lighter. Adapter sold separately.

In fifth place is the Ctek CT5 Time to go starter charger. Differs in its compactness, designed to charge car batteries. The control system is convenient and easy, which ensures the most comfortable regulation of the entire charging cycle. Able to work in auto mode, after the end of charging, a characteristic sound signal is heard. This compact ROM is in fifth place because, compared to previous Swedish counterparts, the charging speed with it is rather slow.

Main parameters:

  • the device is designed for 12-volt batteries with a capacity of up to 160 / Ah and a current of 5 A;
  • high level of protection against dirt, moisture, dust;
  • despite the small size and low charging speed, it works very reliably;
  • durable and wear-resistant in any weather;
  • 5 year manufacturing warranty.

Sixth place is occupied by Ctek MXS 5.0. Judging by the opinions of buyers, it is Swedish-made battery chargers that are becoming especially popular this season.

This charger differs in that at low temperatures it does not work as efficiently as the previous ones. Charging it is also slower than the more efficient and expensive Swedish counterparts, but its cost is much lower - about 9,000 rubles.

The main parameters and advantages of the device:

  • designed to charge 12-volt batteries with a capacity of up to 110 A / h and a current of up to 5 A;
  • high level of protection from external influences;
  • strength durability, reliability in operation;
  • five-year warranty and moderate cost.

In seventh place in the ranking is the Ring Automotive RECB 206 device. Its cost is only 3,000 rubles, while it has an automatic mode of operation with a level of control over the charging process in the form of an LED indicator.

It has a durable case, inside which you can freely place cables and alligators. However, at low temperatures it malfunctions, and charging is rather slow, which is compensated by the “budget” cost.

  • designed for batteries from 6 to 12 V with a capacity of up to 70 A / h and a current of up to 6 A;
  • without a level of security (the only significant minus);
  • it is possible to control the level of charging;
  • low-power, "slows down" in the cold, but the price is fully justified.

The eighth place is occupied by the Smart power professional SP-25N ROM. This is a device with very high power, ideal for charging batteries of any type and quality level. Has two operating modes.

Main parameters, pros and cons:

  • designed for 12-24-volt batteries, both liquid and gel type;
  • battery capacity should be at 12 V up to 500 A / h, at 24 V - 250 A / h, and the current strength when charging is not more than 25 A;
  • there is no level of security, it is recommended to use it only indoors, not outdoors;
  • hard cable is not convenient for everyone;
  • at the same time, the charger has high power, and it quickly charges any battery.

The ninth place is modestly occupied by the Russian charger "Autoelectric T-1050". Its design is very simple, and the price is very attractive, only 2100 rubles, maybe a little more. Has the strong case made of solid metal. But, since there are ventilation holes on the sides, this ROM cannot be protected from dust and dirt, unfortunately. Charging the battery is not fast, sometimes it starts to fail in cold weather.

Main parameters, pros and cons:

  • designed for 12 V lead-acid batteries;
  • battery capacity should be up to 90 A / h with a current of 5 A;
  • no level of protection, can only be used indoors;
  • the price is minimal, and it is attractive;
  • durable case and unpretentious design;
  • "slows down" in the cold;
  • charging slowly but surely.

And the last place is occupied by the domestic charger "Orion PW 415" - due to the fact that many buyers, unfortunately, criticize the quality of its assembly. It is lightweight, compact enough, the price is low, it charges the battery surprisingly quickly, which is an obvious plus.

Options, pros and cons:

  • for batteries 12-24 V, with a capacity of up to 160 A / h, a current of 15 A (a fairly powerful unit);
  • is inexpensive;
  • can work in two modes;
  • build quality leaves much to be desired, but many people repair it with their own hands.

This is what the rating of chargers for car batteries 2016-2017 looks like. Of course, in terms of quality and capabilities, the leading places are occupied by Swedish ROMs, which work perfectly in cold start conditions, and also have a sufficient level of power and protection from harsh weather and external “road” factors. However, if the financial capabilities of the driver are limited, you can also purchase an inexpensive device, including Russian-made ones. Some of them are in a certain demand and popularity.

How to choose it and what you need to know?

When choosing a charger, first of all, you need to know the type of battery installed in the car, because some of them require personal attention and approach.

For example, this applies to lead batteries - they require the use of special chargers.

For most batteries - almost any universal device is suitable.

Although modern devices allow you to simultaneously charge almost any battery using several values of output power and charging current.

Features of the choice of charging for the battery

Having decided on the type of battery that requires charging, the choice of the best model continues according to other characteristics.

It is advisable to give preference to compact portable models, which are more convenient and easier to handle.

And, when choosing between equipment powered by a cigarette lighter and a single-phase network, you should pay attention to the second option - chargers that require standard 220V.

And, as a rule, they provide at first half of the battery capacity, gradually reducing the power until the final charge.

To protect the batteries from overcharging, each device is equipped with a special protection that automatically turns it off when the battery is 100% charged.

Among other parameters that need to be considered when choosing a charger, it should be noted:

  • the capacity of the batteries to be charged. For passenger cars, it is, on average, from 40 to 62 Ah, for motorcycles - up to 20 Ah, for minibuses - up to 120-160 Ah;
  • charging current. 6 A suitable for batteries up to 60-70 Ah. 12 and 18 A - the best option for minibuses and SUVs;
  • price category. The cost of most models is at the level of 2000-3 thousand rubles. More functional equipment will cost 5 thousand or more.

The brand of the charger also matters. German-made chargers are considered the most reliable and efficient devices. While Korean models are distinguished by an affordable price with fairly good performance.

Almost any modern charger can restore the battery of cars and small commercial vehicles within 6-10 hours.

The same devices allow you to restore the performance of a fully discharged battery. At the same time, the recovery time of the battery capacity with a zero charge is calculated taking into account 10–15% of the reserve.

For example, a device with a current of 6 A will charge a 60 Ah battery not in 10, but in 11-12 hours.

If the battery is charged by a third (it is from this moment it is recommended to start charging) - respectively, in 7-8 hours.

If you want to reduce this time, you should buy a more powerful device. At the same time, choosing a device with automatic floating adjustment of parameters will increase the service life of the batteries. Setting the charging current to a lower value will increase the charging time, but also improve recovery. If the charger does not have an automatic adjustment function, the user will have to monitor the battery on their own.

You have to face the “resuscitation” of your battery for various reasons - someone forgets to turn off the dimensions, someone lands the battery on a frosty morning in an attempt to start, someone in the car has an alarm or an incorrectly connected radio tape recorder. In any case, it will be useful to have a charger in reserve: sooner or later it will be able to help out.

On the market you can find a variety of designs of "charging", and they all have their own specific application. It must be taken into account in order not to make a rash purchase - different batteries require different charging conditions.

They are the least capricious - they can easily withstand a charge with increased current (recall - the standard charge current is considered to be a current that is 1/10 of the numerical value of the battery capacity, that is, a 45 A * h battery must be charged with a current of up to 4.5 A, 55 A * h - up to 5.5 A and so on), and recharge. "Boiling off" in them is easy to compensate by adding water, and the risk of damage due to increased gas emission is eliminated very simply - by turning the plugs out.

Therefore, the simplest chargers, consisting of a transformer and a diode bridge, can work perfectly with classic batteries. They usually have a “less current-higher current” charging mode switch, but, as we have already said, this is not fundamental for classic batteries. But in the very design of such "charges" there is a big plus - the voltage at their terminals in the on state is always present, so even a battery that has stood for a long time without a charge will slowly but surely "revive". But you shouldn’t leave the battery unattended for a long time: at the end of the charging cycle, an abundant release of hydrogen will begin (the same “boiling”), and when mixed with air, it is extremely explosive.

Video: How and what to choose a charger for a car battery. Just about complex

However, lead-acid energy sources of the classical type are gradually leaving the market, they are being replaced by maintenance-free calcium batteries. They already require a clear maintenance of the charge mode: if the charging current is exceeded, they will begin to lose the electrolyte level, which, due to the non-separable design, cannot be replenished. Therefore, for all types of maintenance-free batteries (and these are calcium, and AGM, and) only automatic chargers are suitable.

Structurally, they are already much more complicated - their circuit is designed to automatically set the required current and interrupt the charging process when the current drops below a certain value. Such a charger, no doubt, will be much more convenient to use - having charged the battery, it will turn off, and will not “boil” it. In addition, most models of automatic chargers provide protection against incorrect connection, so, as they say, even a blonde will deal with them.

But their main disadvantage also follows from the principle of operation of automatic devices - if such a charge is connected to a discharged battery that has stood for a long time, it will not be able to charge it: in this case, it will receive a very small current at the beginning of the cycle, and the automation will consider it fully charged. There can be several outputs:

  1. Buy an automatic charger with the ability to turn off protective automation (as a rule, these are start-charging devices), and leave it connected in this mode for several hours. If there is a constant voltage at the terminals, the battery will gradually “come to life” - the lead sulfate crystals on the plates will begin to dissolve, and the charging current will increase to values with which the automation will work adequately.
  2. You can make it easier - to simulate the charging current so that the automation does not turn off the charging. To do this, it is enough to turn on some load in parallel with the battery terminals (for example, a light bulb from a headlight) - if after a few hours turning off this load does not turn off the charger, then the “revival” was successful.

Mentioned above, this is a rather specific class - they can not only charge, but also give a significant current for a few seconds to scroll the starter. They are convenient when you can’t spend several hours charging a discharged battery: having charged the battery “at least for a little”, you can put such a device into starting mode, and their current output together with the battery is already enough to start. In fact, the start mode button in them simply turns off all protective automation - as we have already mentioned, this can also come in handy for "resuscitation" of deeply discharged batteries.

Video: How to choose the right battery charger

And finally, the last class of chargers is portable boosters. They are not powered by the mains, but have a built-in gel battery of small capacity, but with high current output. Their main plus is the ability to recharge the battery or start the engine where it is impossible to connect the charger to the mains. But the minus is also understandable - the compact size makes it necessary to cut the battery capacity, so the charging time from the booster, and even more so the number of launch attempts, are strictly limited.

Chargers for classic batteries

Oboronpribor ZU-75A

The design of this charger can be described with the words “you can’t imagine it easier” - inside its case there is a transformer with switching the outputs of the secondary winding (4A / 6A toggle switch on the case), a diode bridge and a control ammeter. For storage in a damp and poorly ventilated garage, this is the best option - unlike electronic chargers, there is simply nothing to break.

Certain operating nuances are associated with the small overall power of the built-in transformer - although the manufacturer claims the possibility of working with 90-ampere batteries, the real “ceiling” for the ZU-75 is a battery with a capacity of 65 ampere-hours, it will still take quite an acceptable time to charge them .

With maintenance-free calcium batteries, this charger should only be used when absolutely necessary, and even more so with AGM or gel batteries: at the end of the charging process, the voltage at the terminals may exceed 15 V, which is fraught with damage to such batteries.

Automatic chargers

FUBAG MICRO 80/12

Modern electronics allows you to create compact high-current circuits that do not require advanced cooling. Therefore, a charger for car batteries does not have to be a “box with a handle” - the Fubag Micro compact charger is more like a laptop power supply.

However, it boasts several charging programs optimized for different types of batteries. Therefore, no matter which one is installed on your car, Fubag Micro will charge it quickly and safely, the rest of the time without taking up much space. It should be especially noted that this memory has a recovery mode for sulfated batteries - leaving the car for several days with the battery dropped to zero, you can then safely charge it.

Pendant 715A

This brand has long settled in auto parts stores, but 715A is worth highlighting among all the “Kulomb” chargers. An additional “power supply” mode was introduced into his circuit, when the automation does not gradually reduce the current at the outputs, turning off at the end of the charging process, but maintains a constant voltage at the terminals. There are many uses for this mode - for example, powering a 12-volt carrier in the garage, "reviving" deeply discharged batteries, and so on.

Video: Best Zu for battery. Pendant 715d

When used in automatic mode, it is enough for the user to set the maximum charging current on the ammeter, which is determined, as we wrote above, from the battery capacity. Given that the current can reach up to 15 amperes, this charger is useful for small batteries, and for traction batteries of commercial vehicles.

Starter chargers

Elitech UPZ 30/120

This charger has the ability to work with 12- and 24-volt batteries, and it has two charging modes: if in “normal” you can work with maintenance-free batteries, then in “fast” you can only charge classic lead-acid batteries, since the charger the current in it increases significantly.

The start-up toggle switch disables the protective automatics, allowing the charger to briefly deliver up to 120 A to the load. By the standards of professional starting chargers, this is not much, but keep in mind that we still have a compact portable model. In addition, it is precisely a few tens of amperes that are usually not enough to crank the starter with a discharged battery.

FUBAG COLD START 300/12

With its compact dimensions (weighing only 1.5 kg), this inverter starter charger can deliver an inrush current of up to 50 A. Therefore, its use is accurately reflected in the name - this device is intended primarily to help with cold starts, when the starter is completely lacking "slightly" current.

As for the use specifically for charging, the same digital circuit is implemented here as in Fubag Micro - the owner just needs to select the desired mode with the Mode button, after which the charger itself will set the necessary charging parameters for a particular type of battery. The charge current and voltage can be optionally displayed on the device screen, and if a malfunction occurs, the corresponding error code will be displayed on it.

Each car owner must take care of uninterrupted, the most important component of electrical equipment, without which starting the engine is not possible. Battery failure due to discharge is a fairly common occurrence, especially in winter, so the issue of purchasing funds that restore battery functionality is especially relevant for cold regions.

The battery does not produce electricity, it only stores it and then releases it. The battery is charged from the car's electric generator, but full charge is not achieved, so after some time the battery loses its charge, requiring the connection of external devices. At positive temperatures, the engine can start even from a half-charged battery, but in winter, the chances of starting are significantly reduced if the battery is not fully charged. Experienced motorists know how important it is to always have a life-saving tool on hand from sudden battery discharge.

The car market offers a countless number of all kinds of chargers of different quality and cost, but the choice of device must be approached with all responsibility. You should take into account the fact that not every charger can fit the battery of your car, so it is important to know what type of battery the car is equipped with. The rating of chargers for car batteries in 2019 will help you navigate among the variety of types and manufacturers. Here are collected devices with different characteristics in a wide price range of domestic and foreign production.

Types of battery chargers

Among the range of car battery chargers, you can find instances with additional options. In addition to the main function, they can perform many others, but the cost in this case will be much higher, so before buying, you need to decide which of the add-ons will really be used and whether the overpayment is worth it.

Charging and starting devices for batteries are:

  1. Pulse. The advantages of devices of this variety are compactness and low weight, as well as. They are more convenient to use, higher in cost than transformer chargers, but subsequently the purchase justifies itself. The principle of operation of pulse devices is based on the creation of high-frequency currents, for which large dimensions are unnecessary.
  2. Transformer devices are much larger and it is inconvenient to have such a device with you all the time; they are usually used for stationary battery maintenance. The action of the device is to reduce the voltage by standard conversion. Transformer chargers are considered reliable, easy to repair, but heavy.

When choosing the best charger for a car battery, you should carefully study the characteristics of the devices, weighing all the advantages and disadvantages. In addition, you need to pay attention to the type and parameters of the battery, this information is contained in the vehicle's passport.

Top 10 inverter chargers

Inverter (impulse) chargers are understood as car chargers that ensure the restoration of battery capacity in a fully automatic mode. This possibility is provided by an intelligent microcontroller that can analyze all the most important parameters of a rechargeable battery and, depending on these indicators, independently select the desired amperage and voltage at any given time. The user does not need to enter or change its settings during the operation of the device, while the inverter charger provides the most gentle charging conditions for the battery, which prolongs its life. A distinctive feature of such devices is high functionality provided by a large number of pre-configured parameters, as well as a high level of security. The main advantage of inverter devices is the protection of the battery from overcharging, which some types of car batteries really do not like.

The Korean charger can be called the undisputed leader in the rating in terms of price and quality of charging. The best pulse-type car battery charger in its category provides 9 modes of operation:

  • testing the battery for its condition and correct connection;
  • desulfation;
  • soft charging for heavily discharged batteries;
  • the main mode, providing up to 80% battery charge;
  • absorption function when charging is carried out at a constant voltage with a dynamically decreasing current;
  • recovery function, used when charging heavily discharged batteries during electrolyte separation;
  • analysis of the battery for the ability to hold a charge;
  • full recharging (using minimum currents);
  • the “pulse” function maintains the maximum battery voltage in storage mode.

The device has protection against polarity reversal, overheating, overcharging and short circuit.

There is a protection system: against polarity reversal, overheating (overcharging) and short circuit. An added benefit is a three-year factory warranty. Able to work including with six-volt batteries.

In addition to the affordable cost (about 2.0-2.1 thousand rubles), it is characterized by high functionality, including the ability to remember settings.

The only drawback is the need to manually switch between 6/12 V modes - the model cannot independently distinguish between the nominal battery voltage.

Second place in the 2019 ranking of the best car battery chargers is taken by a professional model from a Swedish manufacturer. The CTEK MXS 25 pulse charger can only work with 12-volt batteries, but it supports batteries in a very wide range of capacities (40-500 Ah) at a maximum charge current level of 25 A.

Despite such impressive parameters, the device has a low weight (less than 2 kg.) and (235x65x130 mm.). Able to work with all types of lead-acid batteries (WET, MF), as well as gel and AGM batteries.

MXS 25, like the previous model, is a multifunctional device with support for 8 modes, including Supply, which allows you to use the charger as a power source and disconnect the battery while maintaining the basic settings.

Among the important functions, it is worth noting the possibility of diagnosing a battery for the ability to accept a charge, as well as hold it, the possibility of plate desulfation, detailed battery prevention.

Benefits of CTEK MXS 25:

  • powerful charger can be used for all types of batteries;
  • full automation of the memory in all modes of operation;
  • five-year manufacturer's warranty;
  • the presence of the Supply function, which allows you to save settings after disconnecting the battery;
  • high level of protection (from moisture, mechanical damage, sparking, polarity reversal, short circuit, voltage drops, overcharging).

Unfortunately, there is also a drawback - the rather high cost of CTEK MXS 25 (about 35 thousand rubles).

The third place in the ranking of the best pulse chargers is occupied by another representative of the South Korean concern. This smart device has a good set of features and is of high build quality. It can be used to charge both six- and twelve-volt batteries, that is, it is a universal model.

The DW450 uses a self-developed microprocessor (upgraded ADC 12 Bit) that can evaluate the condition of the car battery and, based on this analysis, adjust the charging parameters, voltage and current, which optimizes the charging process and extends battery life.

Works with all types of lead-acid car batteries (WET/MF/GEL/AGM) with a capacity of 40-120 Ah.

Other advantages of the model:

  • the presence of an informative digital display that displays the charging process in real time:
  • diagnostic function;
  • "winter" package that allows charging at low temperatures;
  • protection against polarity reversal, short circuit, overheating, overcharging;
  • budget cost (from 2200 rubles).

Unfortunately, there is no plate desulfation function, and one year warranty from the manufacturer is not too much.

A product assembled in Germany, by definition, cannot be of poor quality.

So if you are interested in which car battery charger is better, and the cost factor plays a secondary role, we advise you to pay attention to this particular model. It costs about three times more than its Korean counterparts, and this can be called the only significant drawback of the model.

AW05-1208 is a universal charger for which there is no difference what type of battery and what capacity to charge (within 10-160 Ah). True, it does not support six-volt batteries, but in all other respects the device is really good: it can charge slowly / quickly, test the connected battery and restore heavily discharged and sulfated batteries with a stratified electrolyte. There is a charge support mode: if you are leaving somewhere for a long time and do not want to let the battery run down, leave the charging on.

Advantages of the model:

  • automatic detection of battery parameters (type, amount of charge, ability to hold it) and selection of the charging mode;
  • excellent build quality and components;
  • both network and interface cables are located on one side of the device, which does not cause inconvenience in work;
  • The scope of delivery includes a hook with which the charger can be hung on the wall.

The product of a well-known Italian company closed the TOP-5 rating of automatic chargers for car batteries. Despite belonging to the middle price segment, this model managed to take a fairly high place due to the support of batteries of any type and high charge current. With STAR SM150 you can recharge batteries up to 225 Ah, i.e. even those used in commercial vehicles.

Such chargers are a frequent guest of companies with a considerable fleet of vehicles, they can be classified as semi-professional. With a relatively small size and modern design, car charging has extensive functionality, allowing you to reanimate hopeless batteries and work at low temperatures.

The device independently determines the operating modes depending on the parameters of the battery, using an intelligent microprocessor with built-in current and voltage sensors.

Note that the Deca STAR SM150 is manufactured at the San Marino plant, which guarantees high build quality and compliance. All stages of charging are displayed using LED indication, the lack of a display can be called the main drawback of the STAR SM150 (as well as the lack of support for 6-volt batteries).

This reliable universal charger combines affordable price and European quality. The Latvian model opens the second half of the top 10 pulse chargers for car batteries. The only model in this review that provides for charging 24-volt car batteries, which allows you to use the Vitals 2415ddca to recharge the batteries of both cars and trucks. The charging current can be selected manually, and switching within 3-15 A is performed smoothly. It is possible to simultaneously charge two 12-volt batteries connected in series (relevant for heavy trucks equipped with two batteries). An intelligent microprocessor provides battery testing, selection of the optimal mode, performance monitoring and completion of recharging with automatic shutdown of the device.

The metal shock-resistant case will protect the memory from mechanical damage, the presence of forced ventilation eliminates the overheating of the device.

Vitals 2415ddca fully complies with EU quality, safety and protection standards, and is able to restore the capacity of deeply discharged batteries.

Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the bulky case and the inability to recharge old batteries.

The brand name clearly indicates the high build quality, reliability and trouble-free charging, while at the same time being associated with the high cost of equipment of this brand. In this case, the cost cannot be called very high (6200-6500 rubles), but this is due to the relatively low level of charging current (the maximum value is 7 A). However, it is enough to recharge most car batteries.

Bosch C7 is one of the best car chargers due to its high level of safety and long service life. The intelligent microcontroller supports three operating modes of the model, which significantly expands the scope of its application (you can recharge a portable refrigerator, start the process of regenerating old batteries). The charger can work with all types of batteries, including gel ones. It has a compact size and a fairly large functionality.

Another budget memory. So if you think that excellent quality and low cost are incompatible concepts, then this model will significantly reduce your level of skepticism. At a cost of about 4,500 rubles, this device has impressive characteristics and extensive functionality - and what else is needed for successful market promotion?

The result was not long in coming: in 2016, the Einhell CC-BC 10M charger was recognized in Germany as the best in the nomination “Choice of the Year”. Unfortunately, the popularity of the model is so high that it is becoming more and more problematic to meet it in domestic car dealerships.

Compact size and bright, stylish and fashionable design only add points to this quality device. The built-in controller on microprocessors performs most of the operations in a fully automatic mode, from determining the type of battery to turning off the device when it reaches 100% charge.

The CC-BC 10M has all the features you need, from the recovery of badly discharged car batteries to the cold weather package. There is also a continuous charging function that allows you to leave the battery in the garage for an arbitrarily long time connected to the charger, without fear of overcharging.

Among the advantages of the model are the presence of an informative liquid crystal display, a convenient handle for carrying or using the device in a suspended state, a 6/12 V mode switch.

The only significant disadvantage is the lack of desulfation of the plates.

With an average cost of about 4200 rubles, this model can be considered one of the most affordable in our review, so its inclusion in the list of the best automatic chargers for car batteries is not at all accidental.

The device is able to recharge the battery through the cigarette lighter without requiring a direct connection (but only if the cigarette lighter is connected directly to the battery, bypassing the generator circuit).

Another distinguishing characteristic of the charger is the use of the proprietary PulseTronic system, which implements fully automatic operation of the device and allows you to implement the following functions:

  • full protection of all electronic circuits;
  • sparkless protection against polarity reversal and short circuit;
  • strict control of the charging process;
  • reduced battery heating;
  • extended battery life.

The usual recharging mode is supplemented by an accelerated one (Boost function), it is possible to switch the recharging of two batteries of trucks. There is a choice of one of three modes of operation of T-charge 12.

The model is able to restore the charge of overly discharged batteries.

The disadvantage of the model is a small charge current (5 A) and support for batteries with a capacity of not more than 70 Ah.

CTEK MXS 5.0

The Swedish company is the only one to be included in the rating of the best car chargers of two different models.

What helped MXS 5.0, worth 12 thousand rubles, to gain a foothold in our top 10 flash memory? With its compact dimensions, this charger can restore even heavily discharged batteries. The Swedes are known to be obsessed with safety, so this device implements all levels of protection, including the protection of electronic components of the car. That is why this model is preferred by owners of expensive foreign cars - they may not be afraid of failure of their on-board computer and other electronic components while recharging the battery.

The microprocessor inverter provides 8 modes of operation of the device, and the build quality is so high that the manufacturer provides a five-year warranty on its products.

The only drawback, besides the high price, is the lack of a digital display.

Top 5 transformer chargers

The main difference between classic transformer recharging and inverter analogs is the absence of a microcontroller. In other words, the process of restoring the battery capacity does not occur automatically. This means that the car owner must monitor the ammeter readings to stop the process as it completes. Transformer devices can have a current charge regulator, while all of them are characterized by large weight and dimensions, which is due to the use of a transformer-type current converter. Despite a number of the shortcomings described above, this type of recharging is still very popular. The reason is simple - low cost, simplicity and reliability of the design, high maintainability.

The 2019 rating of transformer-type chargers for car batteries is headed by a charger of Italian origin, very popular in the Old World. The charge current of this model, as the name implies, is 16 A, which is enough to recharge batteries with a capacity of 20-200 Ah. With a weight of 4.5 kg. and decent dimensions Deca is very easy to maintain and unpretentious in operation. And although the charge mode must be set manually, it is not difficult, you also do not need to be afraid of overcharging the battery, since the device is equipped with appropriate protection. It can charge cars, SUVs, minibuses and trucks, and it is possible to connect two twin 12-volt batteries.

Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the short cable length - 2 meters for a heavy device is often not enough.

In our rating of transformer chargers for car batteries, this is the only model with the ability to both charge the battery in normal and accelerated (Boost) modes, and start the power unit with a fully planted battery.

To provide such an opportunity, the apparatus must be large and powerful. WDK Start620 is just that: at a charge current of 90 A, it provides a starting current of 560 A and a peak current of 620 A. The unit is capable of charging batteries of almost any capacity (up to 1000 Ah), and this is a record figure for our review.

Of course, the weight of the memory is appropriate - about 29 kg, it is possible to connect two 12-volt batteries. A high level of protection allows you not to worry about incorrect connection, as well as the risk of overcharging the battery.

In addition to its heavy weight (WeiderKraft WDK Start620 can hardly be attributed to mobile chargers), the device is characterized by a rather high cost (from 13 thousand rubles), but it can be used to restore the capacity of any, the most powerful lead-acid batteries.

The only Chinese charger included in the rating of car battery chargers - you must admit, this is a rarity in our time. However, we cannot say anything bad about this device, and the Forte company itself belongs to fairly well-known manufacturers. The combination of budget cost (2200 rubles) with good functionality is the key to the popularity of the CB-15FP. In principle, it can do everything that is required from recharging this type: there is a standard charging mode and Boost, it is possible to connect twin batteries from trucks, there is overcharging protection.

The maximum battery capacity for recharging is 135 Ah. The charging current is adjustable within 3.5-7.0 A. The front side of the device is made of impact-resistant plastic, the case is metal. The design is modern, the controls are simple and intuitive. You can monitor the charging process using the built-in ammeter.

The weight of the model is relatively small for a transformer type - 5 kg., There is a comfortable rubberized handle for carrying. The assembly is not bad, but clearly does not reach European standards.

The Taiwanese brand Garvin is well known to the Russian consumer. The company specializes in the manufacture of a wide range of power tools, including chargers. Model Charge GE-CB220 is a strong middling. At a cost of about 8,000 rubles, the device is able to restore the capacity of lead-acid batteries, including paired 24-volt ones. There is a normal and accelerated mode, the latter provides 2-3 times faster recharging, but it is not recommended to use it for completely discharged car batteries. The charger is adapted for Russian conditions (it can work in frosts down to -40°C).

There is protection against overloads, overheating and short circuit, the case is shockproof and wear-resistant. The model deserves to be presented in the rating of car battery chargers, and if it were not for the high cost, the place would be higher.

Elitech UZ 20/12

The only domestic model in our review, and not the cheapest. At a cost of 3600 rubles, it provides charging of lead-acid car batteries with a capacity of 90-180 Ah, including 24-volt truck batteries. The charge current can take two values - 7 or 12 A. It weighs just over 7 kg, which is quite acceptable for this class of chargers. The case is wear-resistant, the design is modern, there is a built-in ammeter to control the charging process. There is protection against overheating and short circuits.

But we believe that it’s better to pay extra and purchase an inverter model, with which you won’t have any extra worries at all - turn it on and leave. In addition, the choice of such devices is much wider. Transformer models are gradually but inevitably disappearing from the shelves of car dealerships.
