The mid-size Japanese crossover Honda CR-V III entered the market in 2007. Three years later, this model was restyled. The crossover was supplied with gasoline engines of 2.0 (R20A2) and 2.4 (K24Z1) liters, 150 and 166hp. respectively. A diesel model with a volume of 2.2 (N22A2) liters and a capacity of 140hp was also produced for the European market. Officially, the diesel version was not supplied to the Russian market.

Gasoline engines were equipped with a timing chain drive. Almost all owners of a two-liter engine note a strange incurable feature - when the climate control is turned on, excessive vibration of the engine appears. Even on this version (2.0), a factory defect was noted: the valve guide of the third cylinder was “crooked” pressed.

Characteristics of the third generation Honda Cr-V engines.

In general, the gasoline engines of the Honda CRV 3 are very reliable and will not cause trouble for their owner. Engine data can be started without problems in cold weather, and also show low fuel consumption (less than 12 liters per 100 km).

    Honda CR-V III pre-styling

It is worth remembering that the regulation provides for the adjustment of valves at a mileage of 40-50 thousand. We do not recommend skipping this procedure.

After 4-5 years of operation, the car will require the owner to replace the lambda probe. As for the catalyst, in practice, its replacement is required after 150 thousand kilometers. Due to the high cost of the native catalyst, very often car owners install "snag".

The transmissions of this vehicle are very reliable and won't give you a hassle if properly maintained. The only thing is that the six-speed manual makes extraneous noise when the first and second gears are engaged. But this does not mean its malfunction. Just a design feature.

A five-speed automatic transmission asks for service every 50 thousand kilometers (oil + filter). Of its weak points, two sensors can be noted, which sometimes require replacement: the position of the selector and the clutch pressure for the second gear. But so far, these breakdowns have been noted only on cars older than five years.

For 4-5 years of operation of this car, the rear springs decently sag. For subsequent installation on the spare parts market, you can find their reinforced version.

Shock absorbers fail closer to 100 thousand km. mileage. When choosing a substitute for a car equipped with xenon headlights, pay attention to the presence of the clearance sensor mounting on the shock absorber. After 50 thousand kilometers, start periodically inspecting the anthers of the front shock absorbers, there are often cases of wiping them on such a run. At the slightest suspicion, replace them.

Closer to 150 thousand mileage, it often becomes impossible to perform rear wheel camber. In this case, it is necessary to change the rear upper arm (you will have to install an adjustable one).

A knock in the steering rack may appear closer to a hundred thousand kilometers. This makes itself felt by the tie rod bushing. It is treated by replacing it with caprolon.

On the first models of the TsRV (07-08 years of release), there may be problems with the paintwork of the fifth door in the form of rusty "beetles" that have appeared. This problem was fixed under warranty at the dealership.

In the fifth year of life, many CRVs had dark reflectors on their headlights. It is treated only by replacing the headlights. Moreover, in our experience, Taiwanese headlights shine no worse than the original ones. It is worth adding that the slight jitter of the low beam is a drawback officially recognized by Honda. If your car has begun to wash poorly on the windshield, take care of replacing the injector check valve, since it is inexpensive.

    Honda cr-v 3rd generation (restyling)

Closer to five years of operation, parking sensors often "glitched". The problem is often that the paint on the sensor has swollen and the surface has oxidized. It can be treated by cleaning the surface and re-painting on its own.

Another defect, officially recognized by the Honda company, in the models of the first years of production is the spontaneous activation of the electric drive of the left mirror at the moment the ignition is turned on. The dealer has changed the mirror assembly under warranty.

The plastic covering of the passenger compartment can begin to creak over the years. This becomes most noticeable in cold weather in the rear right side of the cabin. It is the body iron creaking. To eliminate, remove the trim in the trunk on the right and cover this part of the body with a greasy compound. Sometimes you even have to use a hammer (if processing did not help).

Also, sounds in the cabin can be emitted by: the headrest of the passenger front seat, the backrest in the driver's seat, door locks and outer door handles.

The leather covering of the steering wheel and gearshift lever is quite high quality, and easily withstands more than 150 thousand mileage without noticeable traces of abrasions.

Problems in the operation of the air conditioner may occur closer to a hundred thousand kilometers. Either the compressor relay or the electromagnetic clutch burns out. By the way, the clutch can be rewound and it will cost several times cheaper than buying a new one.

If we talk about driving performance and the survivability of the suspension, then the 3rd generation RCV is all right with this. The car holds the road perfectly, the suspension perfectly works out all the irregularities. Suspension stiffness can be assessed as having a golden mean between comfort and handling. When cornering, body roll is minimal, the steering wheel clearly fulfills all maneuvering commands. The suspension has an excellent durability resource. Up to 100 thousand km. You will have to replace the stabilizer bushings a couple of times - all other parts are reliable up to 120-150 thousand km.

After reading the article, the reader will most likely have a very negative opinion about this machine. But in reality, this is far from the case. We have collected in general all the possible troubles that may arise during the operation of this machine, and this does not mean that they will all appear together on one copy. It should be added that most of the malfunctions occurred on cars produced in 2007-10, and then the automaker fixed all the "jambs" by releasing a restyled version. Yes, and the above malfunctions are not something critical, and their correction will not require serious costs when repairing at a service station. Many typical sores can be corrected by hand.

In 2012 to replace the third generation Honda CR-V came out fourth .

A selection of reviews, video review and test drives of the Honda Cr-V 3:

Crash test Honda CRV third generation:

The Honda CR-V, unveiled at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show, was one of the earliest representatives of the crossover class, although this name was not yet in use at the time. In October of the same year, the novelty appeared in Japanese car dealerships, and in 1997 its sales began in America, Europe and Russia. Due to the increased demand in 2000, the production of the Honda CR-V for the European market was organized at a plant in the UK.

When creating the crossover, components and assemblies of the fifth generation model were used. The only engine is a two-liter with a capacity of 129-130 liters. with., he worked in tandem with a five-speed "mechanics" or four-speed "automatic". Honda CR-V had two versions: with front or plug-in all-wheel drive, but only all-wheel drive cars were supplied to Russia.

In 1999, a minor restyling of the model was carried out (only the shape of the bumpers changed), and the engine power increased to 140 hp. with. (in the version for the Japanese market - up to 150 forces). The release of the first generation Honda CR-V was completed in 2001.

2nd generation, 2001-2006

The second generation Honda CR-V, which debuted in 2001, has grown in size and weight, and the suspension schemes have changed. In addition to the previous 2.0 engine (150 hp), the car received a new 2.4-liter 160 hp engine. with., such cars were equipped only with automatic transmissions and were sold in Japan and America. Especially for the European market in 2005, a turbodiesel version of the crossover was prepared, equipped with a 2.2-liter power unit developing 140 hp. with.

In Russia, the "second" Honda CR-V was available only with a two-liter engine, all-wheel drive and a manual or automatic transmission.

3rd generation, 2006–2011

In 2006, the next generation of the model debuted. The car has become a little shorter and lower, has lost the "spare wheel" on the tailgate, it has expanded the choice of options.

In Russia, the "basic" Honda CR-V was offered with a two-liter engine with a capacity of 150 hp. with. paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a five-speed "automatic". Cars equipped with a 2.4-liter engine (166 hp) were equipped only with automatic transmissions. We were supplied with all-wheel drive crossovers manufactured at a factory in the UK.

In Europe, cars were sold with a gasoline two-liter engine or with a 2.2 i-CTDi turbodiesel with a capacity of 140 forces. In the American market, the Honda CR-V had only one version - with a 2.4 liter engine. The drive could be front or full.

As a result of the 2010 restyling, the front end design barely changed in the car, and a new i-DTEC diesel engine of the same volume, developing 150 hp, appeared on European cars. with. In total, by 2012, about 2.5 million cars were produced.

Childhood diseases Honda CR-V of the third generation (2007 - 2010, restyling 2010 - 2012).

Honda SRV 3 - produced at factories: Japan, United Kingdom, USA and Mexico. Cars assembled in England were imported to our country. 2008 - official sales started in Russia. Compared to its predecessor, the new generation has become "swollen", the fifth door has turned into a massive trunk lid, and the interior has finally become pleasing to the eye.

In the Russian Federation, two petrol engines were officially sold: 2.0 l (150 hp, acceleration to 100 km / h - 12 seconds, average fuel consumption - 8.2 liters per 100 kilometers), 2.4 l (166 hp, up to the first hundred for 10 sec, mixed consumption per 100 km - 9.5 liters). There was also a turbo - diesel 2.2 l (140 hp), offered only for Europe.

There are also two transmissions - a five-band torque converter and a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Of the features: the variable valve timing system - VTEC (at low revs - fuel economy, medium revs - maximum torque, at high - maximum power), ground clearance - 185 mm (which is not enough for our conditions), four-wheel drive is implemented through a clutch (triggered when the front wheels slip and is disabled at a speed of more than 40 km / h), the rear seats have a longitudinal adjustment and allow you to adjust the backrest tilt, 4 safety stars - Euro Ncup.

In the basic configuration: 6 airbags, ABS, exchange rate stability system, four el. windows, air conditioning, el. adjustable heated mirrors, alloy wheels, on-board computer, heated seats.

In the maximum configuration will be added: panoramic roof, 2-zone climate control, xenon headlights, Bluetooth multimedia MP3 / AUX / USB with navigation, cruise control, electric folding mirrors, leather interior, el. front seat adjustment, light and rain sensor, parking sensors, keyless entry, rear view camera.

For some reason, Honda seemed to me even more reliable than Toyota. Personally, I was only familiar with the first generation of the SRV (there was much more strength there). Toyota stands out in terms of reliability (simplicity of design, quality parts, increased fees). I will not say that I am very disappointed, but it could have been better. CR - V has not yet lost face as

The Honda CR-V is a mid-size crossover, one of the closest competitors to the Mitsubishi Outlander and Toyota RAV4. The production of the model began in 1995. The abbreviation CR-V in the name of the car stands for "compact recreational vehicle". The car fits perfectly into this concept - it has sufficient off-road capabilities, as well as easy handling, a spacious interior and advanced equipment. The Honda CR-V is available for international markets in the UK, Japan, Mexico and China. At the moment, the CR-V model is officially presented in the USA, Canada, as well as in Russia and the European Union. Moreover, the machine is very popular in Malaysia, Indonesia and Latin America. The fifth generation of the Honda CR-V is now in production and debuted in 2016.

Honda CR-V owner reviews

Generation 1

Manual transmission (Mechanics)

  • Nikolay, Tomsk. They gave me a car for my birthday. I hinted to my relatives that I want a supported Japanese, but not the same ... So they plopped their fingers into the sky, but I am also to blame, I had to not speak. In general, while I ride a Honda CR-V. A supported car, with mileage of 150 thousand. Eats 12 liters of fuel, under the hood of a 2.0 engine and a mechanic. I'll give it back to my parents when I collect it on RAV-4.
  • Anna, Lipetsk. The Honda CR-V is a great beginner's car. Classic crossover with front-wheel drive, 2.0 engine and manual gearbox. Fuel consumption 10-12 liters.
  • Oleg, Nizhny Novgorod region, 2.0. I bought this myself in 2015. Supported Japanese 1995, turned out to be in good shape. According to the previous owner, the car was brought to us in Russia in the mid-1990s. The car was already used, with the right-hand drive, of course. With a 2.0 petrol engine and a manual gearbox, the average fuel consumption is 13 liters per hundred mileage. The SUV is equipped with all-wheel drive. Now the odometer is about 300 thousand mileage, I'm surprised how this Honda still lives. This is what the Japanese quality is - I was convinced once again.
  • Maxim, Stavropol Territory. Machine with a two-liter engine and mechanics. I chose a Honda CR-V in the secondary market, got a copy with a mileage of 100 thousand km. The technical condition left much to be desired, I decided on a major overhaul. Completely replaced the suspension - shock absorbers, bushings, levers, silent blocks - all this was replaced. Slightly transformed the interior - changed the seats to leather, with improved lateral support. The gasoline engine with a volume of 2 liters, with a capacity of 130 forces remained the same, but it was done a little chip tuning, now it gives out 150 forces. Fuel consumption used to be 12 liters, increased to 13-14 liters per hundred run. I liked the car. Soon I plan to buy something else for my Japanese woman.
  • Constantine, Yekaterinoslavl. Honda CR-V is a car with character. Despite the outdated design, the car still pleases me and my family. It is easy to control it, I even give children to steer on a closed range. With a 2.0 engine and a manual gearbox, fuel consumption is about 12 liters per hundred.

Automatic transmission (Automatic)

  • Cyril, Perm. I took myself a Honda CR-V with an automatic transmission. First generation machine, backed up of course. We didn’t sell such new cars at that time. This Honda has a glorious history - surprisingly, she has a left-hand drive, which means she came to Russia from Europe. According to rumors, it is already in a used condition. Then there were three Russian owners, they drove a total of 300 thousand km on it. So I am at least the fourth owner of a 1997 Honda CR-V with a red body. This is the most top-end version, since there is a machine gun. Fuel consumption 12-14 liters per hundred.
  • Alexander, St. Petersburg. I have a Honda CR-V of the first generation, I decided to save money on the Japanese and learn what the Japanese quality of the 1990s is. The car turned out to be ok, got it in good condition. Consumption with automatic transmission and engine 2.0 is about 12-13 liters.
  • Constantine, Vorkuta. I liked the car as a whole, well, where else can you find a crossover in such a good condition. Of course, it was necessary to look for it among the Japanese, namely the Honda lineup. Our CR-V is generally a popular car, so the choice fell on it. Cramped rear interior, plain materials. The car is of a budget level, there are not enough stars from the sky. It's like a regular transport to get around the city. Although under the hood is not the weakest 2-liter engine, giving out about 130 forces. Fuel consumption with an automatic machine is about 13 liters per hundred.
  • Vladimir, Yekaterinoslavl. My Honda CR-V is a versatile vehicle, although more suited to the city than the highway. It has a rather weak 130-horsepower 2-liter engine. Everything is spoiled by the automatic transmission, which often stumbles on the track and does not allow to accelerate normally, because of it the consumption increases. Things are better in the city. Comfortable, with a practical interior and soft suspension. Consumption 12-14 liters per hundred kilometers.
  • Lyudmila, Nizhny Novgorod region. Such cars are rare in our city, so I took it to stand out from the rest. An original car, with its own jambs and pluses. Automatic, dynamic and comfortable car. The two-liter engine produces 130 forces, it is enough. Consumption 12 liters.

Generation 2

Engine 2.0

  • Vitaly, Yekaterinburg. The crossover is worth the money. Honda CR-V is the epitome of style and reliability, but not luxury. Simple interior, solid materials, and the body design does not evoke any emotions. Almost like a conservative German. The machine is equipped with a 2.0 motor and an automatic machine. The city consumes 13 liters.
  • Margarita, Peter. This car has everything that I like. Dynamic motor, agile automatic, all options. Average fuel consumption is 12 liters.
  • Svyatoslav, Vologda region. Car produced in 2002, bought at a car dealership, with a guarantee, with all options. I have the most top-end version with such a motor. There is an automatic transmission, and a two-liter engine produces 150 horsepower. A four-wheel drive car, fuel consumption is 12-13 liters per 100 km. Comfortable wheelbarrow in the cabin, decent soundproofing of the engine compartment. The interior is assembled with high quality, but the plastics are frankly cheap and tough. Sometimes I give my wife to steer, and after CR-V she began to love SUVs, now the Chevrolet Tahoe wants ...
  • Igor, St. Petersburg. Bought a 2004 Honda CR-V, I still drive. Reliable car, pampers with its comfort. He became like a native, all spare parts are original, change according to the regulations, not earlier than the due date.
  • A car with a two-liter engine and an automatic transmission, fuel consumption is 12 liters per 100 km.
Alexey, Dnepropetrovsk. I would like to praise the CR-V for its good dynamics, for a crossover, the car drives briskly, and it handles great. Probably all thanks to the elastic suspension, which is not very comfortable for our roads. I have a version with a 2.0 engine and a gun, it consumes no more than 12 liters per 100 km.

Engine 2.4

  • Igor, Murmansk. Typical urban crossover, let's say for show-off. He really does not know how to drive off-road, although there is a four-wheel drive - a contribution to improving handling, it is just very important for the city, like an automatic transmission. All this is available. Average gasoline consumption per 100 km reaches 12-13 liters per 100 km.
  • Yuri, Krasnoyarsk. The car is solid, with Japanese quality. I dreamed of this for a long time. Consumes 12 liters in the city - with a 2.4 engine and automatic transmission.
  • Maxim, Moscow region. I bought a Honda CR-V in the most top-end configuration, with a 2.4-liter engine, four-wheel drive and an automatic transmission. Full stuffing, so to speak, fuel consumption is about 13-14 liters per hundred kilometers. Accelerates quickly and brakes effectively, the car is designed to give you driving pleasure. It listens well to the steering wheel and rides smoothly - a perfect balance between handling and comfort. Children like it, by the way, they sit in the back, on their child seats. And my wife and I sit in front, and from time to time we replace each other to steer - this often happens on a long journey, especially under the scorching sun. But in these conditions, an effective air conditioner saves. And now we turn on the stove, it works quite noisy, but heats up in all directions.
  • Slava, Irkutsk. I liked the car, this Honda CR-V is still capable of giving odds to many competitors. I have a car with a 2.4 engine, fuel consumption 12-14 liters, depending on the pace of driving. There is an automatic transmission.
  • Vladimir, Petropavlovsk. Took a supported crossover with a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission. Fully loaded, with a range of under 100 thousand km. The car is in good condition, a couple of stocks to alter and you can heap. The motor is powerful, produces 160 horsepower. For an aspirated engine, this is enough, acceleration to the first hundred in just 9.5 seconds according to the passport.

Generation 3

Engine 2.0

  • Boris, Nizhny Novgorod region. My Honda CR-V is produced in 2008, now the mileage is 100 thousand km. I go and do not complain, very comfortable car. With gambling control. A 2-liter engine and a manual transmission are more than enough. Average fuel consumption is 12 liters per hundred. This is in the urban cycle, and on the highway it turns out no more than 10 liters. In my opinion, I made the right choice. I'm talking about a gearbox, otherwise the automatic machine would probably work with delays. A friend has a similar car with such an engine and automatic, but of the previous generation. His automatic machine works with delays, so he was afraid to take it. Inside the Honda CR-V, there is a spacious and high-quality interior, with a roomy and convertible trunk. You can quickly fold the seats, and you get a flat floor, you can put long lengths.
  • Elena, Tambov. Satisfied with the car, comfortable and reliable car. With a 2 liter engine, 150 horsepower. The gearbox is automatic, it works flawlessly. The gearbox and the engine are perfectly coordinated, there is no misunderstanding between them, in the sense that there are no delays. Perhaps due to this, such a low consumption - about 11-12 liters per hundred in the urban cycle, and this is even with the most dynamic driving. In general, the car pleased.
  • Alexander, Perm. I have a car in 2009, now the mileage is 85 thousand km. I drive a car all year round, I do without a garage. The car is reliable, I serve only in the service. Fuel consumption is 10-12 liters per 100 km. Version with 2.0 motor and manual gearbox.
  • Vlada, Yekaterinoslavl. A car for all occasions, with such an engine - a 150-horsepower two-liter gasoline engine. It consumes only 12 liters per hundred, and there is also HBO. The main expenses are only for maintenance.
  • Nikita, Rostov. Honda CR-V 2010 release, with a two-liter internal combustion engine and automatic gearbox. In fact, my wife chose the car for me, we went with her to the car dealership. I wanted to take with the mechanics, but in general she insisted, well, what can you do. She was just at that time handed over on the license, and now she often drives my Honda. But let it be, I don't feel sorry for anything for my woman. I myself also like the car, the automatic turned out to be moderately quick, and the acceleration dynamics are very smooth, and even almost imperceptibly gear changes. Fuel consumption 12 liters per hundred.

Engine 2.4

  • Alexey, Tomsk. The wheelbarrow was presented as a birthday present - a supported one, with a mileage of 99 thousand km. The gift made me happy for the rest of my life, I have long dreamed of this. So my dream has come true. Moreover, this is my first car. And after such a car, I hardly need any kind of Volga and Tazy. So tremble the rogue! I am young and handsome, at this age it is useful to show off, and I am so tuned in to optimism. In general, I am a purposeful person, and the Honda CR-V is just for me. A dynamic and comfortable car. My student friends now have a free taxi, and I am happy to give them a ride. You need to do good to people, and then they will repay you. I have a car with a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission, the fuel consumption is 12-13 liters per 100 km.
  • Dmitry, Pyatigorsk. It is better not to drive off-road with such a machine - I checked it myself. I went there once and broke the front bumper. And in the city, the CR-V reveals all its advantages. With a 2.4 engine and automatic transmission, it consumes about 13 liters.
  • Anatoly, Sverdlovsk. I bought a car for daily trips around the city and out of town. It's just that I have a job in another city, and it's somehow stressful with transport. At first I planned to take something simpler - something like Solaris. But in the end I decided that the car should be universal. The choice fell on the Honda CR-V. This car combines a passenger car and an SUV, and is reliable in Japanese. What I was convinced of during operation. The car never lets me down. With a 2.4 engine and a manual gearbox, the fuel consumption is 12 liters / 100 km.
  • Vasily, Irkutsk. The Honda CR-V is now my only car, and I would never trade it. I became very attached to him, I will praise the car for its reliability and comfort. Fuel consumption comes out from 10 to 13 liters, depending on the city or highway. There is an automatic transmission.
  • Anna, Vorkuta. I got the car from my brother, and he himself moved to the Land Cruiser. Moved to another level, so to speak. Honda impressed me in all respects. A very economical car, despite the old 2.4-liter aspirated. There is an automatic transmission. The city consumes about 12-14 liters per 100 km.

Generation 4

Engine 2.0

  • Yaroslav, Pyatigorsk. The car turned out to be quite reliable, even against the background of my former Toyota RAV4. Although the car is more expensive to maintain, it is more fun to drive. An old Toyota is no match for my Honda. CR-V with a 2.0 engine and manual gearbox eats an average of 12 liters per 100 km.
  • Alexander, Kiev. I have a 2014 Honda CR-V, bought a new one in Kiev. For three years I drove 100 thousand, and for this anniversary figure I decided to share my impression of the car. This is a typical crossover for every day, it is easy with it in the city and on the highway. The CR-V is capable of handling light off-road terrain, but no more. Universal car, there are all the options, and plus another automatic transmission. A 150-horsepower 2-liter engine is enough in the city. The engine itself is time-tested, it has been installed on many generations of the Honda CR-V. That is why I took it with such an engine. With it, the consumption is 10-12 liters. The gearbox quickly changes gears, but as a last resort I put the selector into manual mode.
  • Sergey, Lipetsk. I am a tourist by profession, and I needed a universal car. Before Honda I had one hundred and fifth Volga, well, I will not go on it to Europe or somewhere else to a distant abroad. Moreover, there are no spare parts for it. So I had to take a foreign car. I chose the top version with a two-liter engine with a capacity of 150 forces. With him and the automatic transmission, the consumption on the highway does not exceed 10 liters, and this is very good compared to my former Volga. In general, I did not regret the choice. And I'm not parting with my Volga yet, I drive it around my hometown.
  • Stanislav, Perm region. I chose between Toyota RAV-4 and Honda CR-V. I tested both cars. I liked the way Honda is driven more, and in the end I bought it. With a two-liter engine that produces 150 forces. Automatic transmission, fuel consumption 10-12 liters. I liked the car, I made the right choice, my relatives support me.
  • Oleg, Dnepropetrovsk. Honda CR-V is a reliable car for all occasions. You just need to service it in a timely manner, and preferably in a corporate service. And no collective farm, all spare parts are original. Only in this case will Honda delight. My version is equipped with a 2.0 engine and mechanics, consumes up to 12 liters per 100 km.

Engine 2.4

  • Constantine, Kaliningrad. A comfortable and reliable SUV, what else is needed for life. Moreover, I have the most top-end version, with all the options. The 2.4 engine with 190 forces consumes 12-14 liters of gasoline, depending on the pace of the ride. There is an automatic transmission.
  • Vladimir, Leningrad region. This car seems to have been created for me. Meets all my needs. Probably because I'm an extrovert. That is why he took the most powerful 2.4-liter version with automatic transmission. 190 forces are quite enough, with them the car consumes 12-13 liters.
  • Vladimir, St. Petersburg. I bought a car for my beloved wife. She really wanted him, she really trembled. We went to a car dealership, she cheated there, scared all the customers. It is with joy, because for our sake they found a suitable package in stock. They took it on the day of ordering, my wife did her best. We chose a version with a 2.4-liter engine and an automatic transmission. This is almost a top-end package. The car is practical and family friendly, it rides very softly and at the same time it is well controlled. The reliability of the car is at a high level, you do not need to tinker anything yourself, here is my Volga, as they say in the past. Fuel consumption with an automatic machine is 13 liters in the urban cycle, and no more than 10 liters goes out of town.
  • Igor, Donetsk. I took a car with all the options and the most powerful engine. Its working volume is 2.4 liters, and its capacity is about 190 horses. The car is comfortable and dynamic. Acceleration to the first hundred in just 10 seconds. Fuel consumption 12-13 liters with an automatic transmission. The car suits, for the city and for the highway just what I have been looking for for a long time.
  • Svetlana, Krasnoyarsk. I have a Honda CR-V with a 2.4-liter 190 horsepower engine. This is a gasoline unit, which turned out to be very economical in the city, I'm not talking about the highway. I calculated, and the average consumption turned out to be 11 liters. Very worthy for such a rather big car.

Generation 5

Engine 2.0

  • Vladimir, Krasnodar. The car is beautiful, no doubt about it. And maybe he can do something off-road. But all the same, I feel sorry for the car, because it is really beautiful. It is a pity that I cannot use my purchase in full. I drive only in the city and on the highway, the fuel consumption with the 2.0 engine and the robot is an acceptable 11 liters.
  • Ekaterina, Arkhangelsk. With Honda CR-V I want to live and live again. The machine gives so much energy that I have many unattainable goals, which will not be enough life to reach. And this is very good, but there is something to strive for. My Honda CR-V is equipped with a CVT and a two-liter engine, with this arsenal it turns out 12 liters per hundred.
  • Boris, Stavropol Territory. Bought Honda CR-V in 2016. It is very bad that a version with a 1.5-liter engine with a capacity of 190 hp is not provided for the Russian market. This is a great motor, judging by the reviews of my friends from Europe. Ordering from there would have cost me a fortune, in the end I had to take a version with a proven two-liter engine. I have a version with a variator and four-wheel drive, with such equipment fuel consumption in the city reaches about 9 liters. Very worthy for such an old engine, and somehow I already began to forget about that 1.5-liter turbo engine. It turns out that everything is pretty good, the crossover rides dynamically and brakes confidently. Acceleration to hundreds in 10-11 seconds. The car is still satisfied, let's see what happens next.
  • Nikolay, Odessa. I have a Honda CR-V with a 2.0 engine and an automatic transmission. The engine produces 150 forces, this is the standard for this class. The unit is reliable, and as far as I know, it was installed on previous generations of CR-V. With it, the consumption is stably kept at 12 liters per 100 km.
  • Marina, Kazan. I was planning to take a used CR-V at a Honda dealership, but they made me a lucrative offer for a fifth-generation CR-V, that is, a new car. I could not refuse, there is a loan on very favorable terms. I was pleased with the purchase, the car is worth the money. With a 2.0 engine and a variator, there is four-wheel drive and all the options. The machine consumes about 9 liters per hundred.

Engine 2.4

  • Ilya, Belgorod. With this car, it seems that there are no obstacles in my way - it is so dynamic and comfortable. Well, everything is clear, this is the same top-end version, which, with a displacement of 2.4, produces about 180 forces. The dynamics of the naturally aspirated motor is more than enough for city driving. Yes, and on the track CR-V, too, did not miss. In the conditions of our eternal traffic jams, the consumption is 14 liters per 100 km, as much as I would not like less.
  • Mikhail, Moscow. This is the most luxurious car I've owned. Honda CR-V of a new generation, in top-end configuration with a 190-horsepower engine and a robotic gearbox. I did not regret that I overpaid for additional options in the form of climate control, full power accessories, a sunroof and exclusive rims. The car was appreciated by all members of my family, so to speak, from my ancestors to descendants. Of course, my wife is delighted with my choice. Until recently, I thought that I would take a Toyota. I am generally predisposed to the Japanese, and mainly to this brand. We just had a Corolla before. But I decided to be original and surprise the family. Average fuel consumption in the urban cycle is about 12-14 liters per 100 km.
  • Dmitry, Kiev. I bought a new CR-V for space money, but the car is worth it. This is Honda, the epitome of sport and reliability. I just passed on my license, and decided for myself - I need to take only Japanese cars, so as not to spoil the mood. My CR-V consumes a maximum of 15 liters of gasoline, I like to drive fast.
  • Igor, Moscow region. I use this crossover in a taxi. I even repainted it yellow so that everyone turned around and noticed only me against the background of all these Solaris. I bought a car when I was a family. Divorced, and had to do something - release stress. So he went to taxi drivers, and did not regret it. Honda consumes an average of 12 liters with a 2.4 engine and an RCP gearbox.
  • Margarita, Leningrad region. The Honda CR-V is a worthwhile SUV. It is an SUV, and I'm not afraid to rape it where it's supposed to. The car must be used for its intended purpose, and in the city / on the highway - this also goes without saying. But I am the kind of person who loves to experiment. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. In general, while I drive along country roads - I need to start small. The car is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission, with this tandem the consumption is about 13 liters.

September 2006 at an exhibition in France will be remembered for the debut of the third generation Honda CR-V. As it turns out later, this is the most successful of all the modifications. For several years, the car was sold in a million copies.

Specifications

Construction, platform / frame

The well-forgotten old and a piece of the new - this is about the platform for the third generation Honda CR V 3. Part of the design was copied from the Honda CR V 2, the rest was modified, so the previous platform did not satisfy all the requirements of the present.

Engine

The line of engines is exclusively gasoline type in two modifications with a 16-valve gas distribution mechanism:

  • 2.0 (150 HP) - catalog index R20A2;
  • 2.4 (166 HP) - K24Z4.

Fuel consumption is 9.5 liters in the combined cycle and 8.1 liters in the "highway" mode with a manual transmission, and 100 grams more with "automatic". The maximum speed is 190 km / h on the mechanics, and 177 km / h on the automatic transmission. The first hundred kilometers in 10.2 seconds. for manual transmission, and 12.2 for automatic transmission.

Checkpoint

The transmission of the Honda CR V 3rd generation is represented by a five- and six-speed automatic, a five-speed manual. This is not to say that automatic transmissions are fine-tuned and sensitive, no. In the "Kick Down" mode, a slight delay at the start is clearly perceptible, when shifting to higher gears. The defect is not critical, but for someone it plays a significant role.

Suspension

What has remained unchanged is the McPherson suspension. Unfortunately, the performance was better for the "native" double wishbone. Due to the increased weight of the CRV 3 body, the suspension stiffness was increased so that the overall steering index was not lower than the permissible value. In the overall standings, it even increased due to the fine tuning of the elements. The rear suspension is independent, multi-link type, spring.

All-wheel drive is made using Real Time 4WD technology - activation when the front wheels slip.

Exterior

The first thing that catches your eye is the sportiness and light aggressiveness of the general style of the front end of the Honda CR V 3. A two-level radiator grille, massive bumper, original side lines, enlarged rims - what is remembered at first sight and remains in memory for a long time.

The total curb weight of the crossover is 1680 kg, the ground clearance is 18.5 cm. For the first time, 17 and 18-inch wheels are installed. Disc brakes, both front and rear.

Interior

The overall picture of the interior is slightly spoiled by the multiple plastic inserts in the trim of the Honda CRV 3. Over time, you get used to it, and you no longer scrutinize the details so carefully.

You get an unforgettable feeling when you hold the steering wheel. The multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel in a soft sheath, combined with the unique shape of the center console, provides maximum visibility to all instruments, which is so important during driving. A small display was placed between the tachometer and the speedometer, bringing the main parameters online to the fore.

A radio tape recorder is installed on the central channel between the seats, a row of washers for the climate control levers. There is no congestion and congestion, it pleases.

The SRV 3 seats are equipped with lateral support, all without a hint of the car's sportiness, but it is comfortable and practical. The back row will comfortably accommodate three passengers of weighty configurations. The choice of "guests" multiple settings for the position of the seats.

Useful luggage compartment space for a firm "4": 450 liters in standard mode and 990 liters when folded. The rear row seats fold in a 40:20:40 ratio.

Restyling

Three years after the official presentation of the third generation Honda CRV, Japanese engineers released a facelift version of the car. Outwardly, the changes are subtle. There is a joke that this was done deliberately so as not to scare off buyers with a "new" model of the car.

You can distinguish the third version from restyling by the design of the radiator grill, its upper part, like three blades, instead of the usual solid chrome lining. A honeycomb was installed in the lower part. The front bumper and the shape of the fog lights are slightly rounded.

The main visual difference is the rubber seal from the dirt, which was installed at the junction of the bumper with the hood. The rear part remained unchanged, with the exception of the muffler attachment, which is wrapped in the other direction.

The changes practically did not affect the salon, and what has appeared must be looked for. A USB port is installed inside the glove box. The central information display now displays more information to the driver, the display color has changed.

Available configurations and prices

Honda CRV 2003 is offered in three trim levels: Comfort, Elegance, Executive. The latter with a 2.4 liter engine, leather interior. Starting from the third generation, front and side airbags are installed, both for the driver and for the passenger. Side mounted curtains with rollover sensors, belt pretensioners, exchange rate stabilization system, an electronic assistant for emergency braking. The basic configuration includes fastenings for child seats and a trailer stabilization system.

In the secondary market, you can buy a Honda CR V III in good condition for 900,000 rubles, no less. In general, the indicators reach the level of 1,200,000 rubles.

Main competitors

But the model has plenty of competitors. Among others, we will highlight: Toyota RAV-4, Opel Antara, Chevrolet Captiva, Nissan X-Trail, Mitsubishi Outlander, Outlander XL.

Each of the rivals offers a range of powerful motors, a lower price, and other improved characteristics. But in general, the above models are equal, it is extremely difficult, even impossible, to distinguish clear favorites and losers.

Features of the model that distinguish it from competitors

Comfortable rear row of seats, accessibility in the engine compartment, high ground clearance, reasonable cost in the secondary market.

Cons, problems

  • weak torque to the rear wheels, only 35%, so you should not rely on excellent cross-country performance;
  • crankshaft oil seal leak after the first 90,000 km;
  • periodic malfunctions of the electronic engine control unit. It is necessary to systematically prevent, read and delete system errors using a portable scanner at the workshop.

Pros, dignity

  1. Economy in fuel consumption;
  2. Low noise, vibration while driving;
  3. Availability of spare parts, components;
  4. Technical inspection budget.

Output

Honda SRV 3 of the third generation is an excellent family car for daily trips, as well as for outdoor enthusiasts. This was so lacking in the second generation. Thanks to the return to "sport", the model has become so popular that it is confirmed by millions of sales in a short period of time.
