This amazing motorcycle was built in just four weeks in a workshop located 300 kilometers south of the Indian Harley-Davidson plant. The project was realized thanks to the efforts of Rajputana Customs and H.-D., who donated Street 750 ...

Now I propose to consider a true cafe racer, which fully corresponds to the original idea. This beautiful bike was created by Englishman Adam Greits. The very idea to make a cafe appeared with him, we can say by chance:

“I watched a show about cafe racers on the Discovery Channel and I was hooked,” says Adam. “After months of searching for the right donor, I finally came across what I was looking for.”

The robot is no longer fresh, 2013, but I liked it, because it is quite interesting. Therefore, I decided to publish milking you.

This bike was made by Cedric, who may still be a motorcycle mechanic for Everett Powersports, which is located in Washington state. The idea for the bike came after he got a 2010 Honda Goldwing with badly damaged plastic but absolutely no damage to the engine and frame. Restoring to its original state did not make sense because of the enormous cost of the parts required for this.

Steve is a professional gem and motorcycle jeweler at his own workshop, Silver Piston, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Steve is engaged in the production of small parts all day long. All his life he was fond of motorcycles and especially loves Italian 2-cylinder bikes. In 2014, Steve decided to apply his skills to something bigger, resulting in an interesting project - the Silver Piston Moto Guzzi V50 Mk3.

How about the idea of converting a heavy touring bike into a light bobber bike?
“Yes, this is how many things have to be thought of, and it’s hard,” - probably many would say. But to Texas resident Ric Becker, that didn't seem like a problem. He took it and did it. The master built a custom "Ol 'Sparky" based on the legendary Honda GL1100 Gold Wing Interstate 1983.

A new custom version of one of the legendary brand Harley-Davidson motorcycles was presented by Thai tuners. It turned out to be a real monster for city racing.

The Taiwanese customization company Rough Crafts, known all over the world for the original rework of Harley motorcycles, has presented the fans of this brand with another splendor - the Dyna Guerilla bike.

Motorcycles are not designed for riding on snow and ice, but, as practice shows, good studded tires allow you to ride on ice and snow, although people do such things at their own peril and risk. Without a doubt, it takes skill, and most importantly, confidence. Most use motorcycles of the enduro category, but there are rare cases with sportbikes.

Paolo Tesio presented his concept of the Ducati Monster studded streetfighter. The bike is prepared for the toughest races and therefore has an extremely aggressive design.

In 2008, the Harley-Davidson XR1200 (European) was a great bike that captivated the American flat track spirit and also had something in common with the legendary XR750. American journalists admired the 91-horsepower engine and high-quality suspension, demanding the same motorcycle for the domestic market, and a year later, their dreams came true. Of course, the XR1200 model had a weak point - design, so in 2013 the production of the model was stopped.

But the craftsmen of Café Racer Dreams brought one of these bikes back to life after skillful intervention and even changed the spirit of this bike a little. He became, as it were, more strict, but this made him look even more advantageous ..

Honda CX500 is one of the most unusual motorcycles of the Japanese manufacturer. Nowadays, this model is in demand among customizers. The project presented in the photographs was presented by Australian master Max Hughes of the Double Barrel Garage, Sydney.

Incredible designs are made from old Soviet motorcycles! Today I propose to take a look at 9 of the most stunning, in my opinion, custom built on the basis of USSR motorcycles.

Dnipro Brigadier from Falcodesign studio

The first custom is called Brigadier. Its construction was carried out by the Belarusian studio Falcodesign, which is already known for its custom on the basis of the Dnieper. However, this bike turned out to be so cool that it immediately hit all the world customizer charts.

Planet Sport by Yuriy Shif Custom

In the Minsk workshop of Yuri Shif, not just motorcycles are created, but works of art. IZH Planet Sport is a legendary device that still has many fans. However, there are those who are not satisfied with it. In 2015, a specialist from Belarus, Yuri Shif, presented a custom project from this Soviet monster. And he looks amazing !.

So, on the basis of the Soviet IZH, the original scrambler from the Yuri Shif Custom company was born, which was made for the Moscow owner. The motorcycle has a lot of new things: brake discs on wheels, new suspension, fork, handlebar, and much more. As for the engine, it has been significantly improved: the power has increased from 32 to 50 hp. and the ability to unscrew it up to 11,000 rpm.

Cafe-racer Minsk Detonator

This bike was also made by Belarusian customizer Yuri Shif and won prizes at various motorcycle competitions abroad. Probably everyone has already heard about the fastest M1NSK. It is a concept with a 125cc two-stroke engine. It can reach speeds of up to 205 km / h. The chassis of the highway-ring "Minsk", produced in the 1980s, is taken as a basis.

Minsk Detonator was named the best in the category "Born in the USSR" and the second in the category "Metric motorcycle". He also made it to the top five overall.

Iron Custom Motorcycles Beckman

The Beckman motorcycle was assembled in the Kharkiv Iron Custom Motorcycles workshop for nine months. Last year, the Kharkov bike became the best at the world championship in moticycle customizing, held in Cologne, Germany. Craftsmen created a project based on the IZH Jupiter-4 produced in 1982, but there are almost no original parts left in it, since most were created by craftsmen by hand.

A homemade engine increased the power of the bike from Izhevsk 28 hp. up to 50 hp And the Beckman got its name in honor of the Soviet design engineer and racer Wilhelm Beckman - based on his books and articles by the master, and built in custom.

Custom Izh Jupiter

Many should be familiar with the work of the Moscow designer Mikhail Smolyanov. He seemed to have glanced into another era, customizing IZH Jupiter for motorcycles of the early 20th century. What else to say, it turned out to be a real masterpiece.

Fritz Steampunk Project

The Fritz project in the steampunk style was implemented on the basis of the Dnepr motorcycle units by craftsmen from Germany. Pay attention to the sidecar with a car radiator from the 1920s, it gives a special charm to the motorcycle.

PanUral by IBCycles

This project, called PanUral, is the brainchild of the Italian studio IBCycles, which was presented at AMD-2016. All elements of this wheelchair motorcycle are made of aluminum, from which all elements of this project are made. The engine here remained from the Urals.

The Machine project by Yuri Shif

Here is another interesting project "The Machine" by Yuri Shif. This work, built on the basis of the Russian motorcycle K-750, has become one of the most successful. The project became the 2010 world champion in the United States in the class of motorcycles with non-American engines, and also took 3rd place in the overall standings. In addition, "The Machine" is the winner of the International German Championship Custombikeshow 2010.

The Machine shocked not only the specialists, but also the audience spoiled by design and technical delights. The bike was developed in the strictest secrecy and its premiere show became sensational even for people from the inner circle of the Minsk customizer. A stunning appearance, taking back to the distant 30s, the highest technical performance, fantastic design solutions of the chassis. The heart of the bike was a futuristic power plant, which was based on a pair of two opposites from the legendary model of the Soviet motorcycle K-750, with a screw compressor installed on top!

Electric Volga by Mikhail Smolyanov

Russian designer Mikhail Smolyanov commissioned Electric Cars Custom to create a prototype of an electric bike called the Electric Volga. The concept repeats the shape of the GAZ 21 "Volga" car of the middle of the last century, but stands on two wheels and is stuffed with high technologies.

The massive body parts are made of aluminum, and the frame is made of steel tubes. The EV Drive powertrain can deliver from 160 to 253 Nm, depending on the voltage, spins up to 10,000 rpm and produces about 134 hp. The concept's speed indicators are even more striking: the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is 2.5 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 200 km / h.

To make a bicycle on your own, you need to be well versed in the design of bikes, have a clear idea of their structure and geometry, as well as know the features of the mechanisms and used parts.

The look and functionality of such a hand-made bike is limited only by the imagination and capabilities of the person who assembles it.

A homemade bike is called a custom bike. They are created by hand or made to order in the workshop. They got their name from the English adjective "custom", which means "made, made to order". Such bicycles are distinguished by their original design and often complete uniqueness. They are designed to the personal standards of the cyclist and are completely owner-oriented. Custom have their own frame geometry, very often very peculiar, unusual wheel diameter for such a bike size and many additional parts and accessories that carry more aesthetic load than functional potential.

Most custom bikes are divided into several types:

  • Choppers. This type carries more of an aesthetic component. There is a whole culture of choppers;
  • In addition to them, there are also cruisers and tours. These travel models provide more comfort to their owner, being created exclusively for their owner, and also give the owner the confidence that such a device will be many times more reliable in travel.
  • In addition to the main types of custom, hybrids, lowriders, singlespeeds, and even tandems can be created;
  • Sometimes an electric bike is created on the basis of an ordinary bike. Someone goes further and turns it into a moped, but such modifications already require a lot of effort and time, and for such an occupation, knowledge is also needed in the field of motor construction;
  • There are many types of custom that do not belong to any of the known types and have their own unique characteristics suitable only for their owner.

Should you do it yourself?

It takes a lot of time and effort to assemble a quality two-wheeled horse. And before that, you first need to clearly decide for yourself whether it is worth starting to do such a thing at all. There is a myth that doing it yourself is much cheaper than buying a ready-made one. But this is not at all the case. In fact, to assemble a decent vehicle, you need to use only quality parts, but they often have a very decent price, so a self-assembled bike can hardly be as expensive as a stock one. But more often than not, its cost increases and can reach double the price of a regular model from a store.

In addition, independent production of a two-wheeled horse is not an easy task. Of course, for those who like to create something with their own hands and want to know absolutely everything about their bike, this process will seem pleasant and not difficult, but, nevertheless, it takes a lot of time, especially if the custom design implies some original features or even radical changes.

Building a custom in a workshop can be very expensive. Some of these models are completely created as a work of art, on which you can only show off at exhibitions, but in no way go into the summer alley.

Before you start assembling by custom, you should carefully calculate and weigh everything so that the future work of art of your hands does not remain forever in the garage in the form of semi-assembled scrap metal.

However, assembling your own original vehicle can do without such drastic changes as designing and welding a new frame and completely changing the appearance of a two-wheeled friend. The huge number of bike enthusiasts who prefer to assemble their bikes on their own, in most cases, only use many different parts from a large number of different models. Thus, they select exactly what suits them specifically, take into account their own individual preferences, and also complete their iron horse only with the necessary properties and functions, excluding unnecessary ones.

For example, when assembling their own touring, the owner can replace the usual steering wheel with a road one, which will be more comfortable to hold on a long trip, lighten the weight and increase strength by changing the frame to a light and strong titanium one, replace the brakes, but newer and more reliable ones that will not fail. long journey and many other modifications. All this will give the custom unique properties and unusual appearance.

However, when modeling a completely new design, it is important to have a clear sequence of purchasing and assembling parts. Not all parts can clearly fit together. Quite often, models of parts from different manufacturers and for different types of bicycles have different fastening and connection mechanisms, so not every part can fit freely.

Nowadays, the trend of collecting electric bicycles has become a very popular trend. It is a useful and environmentally friendly mode of transport, which is why more and more people prefer it.

Such a solution as an independent assembly is very well suited if you want to do something with your own hands or if you want to buy an electric bike, but there are no dealers selling such equipment in the city.

Making such a bike is quite simple. Components for an electric motor can be found in many online stores, and most of them are easy to install.

The bike converted into an electric model practically does not differ in appearance from an ordinary bike, since the parts are small and not striking.

In order to assemble an electric bike, it is very important to choose the right set of equipment. Usually it consists of the electric motor itself, a battery and a charger.

It is very important to choose high-quality parts, because the integrity and operational characteristics of the bike directly depend on the safety of their work and durability.

Electric mopeds

The main part of such a vehicle is the motor. Nowadays, choosing it is extremely easy. Gasoline engines from lawn mowers and chainsaws are often used. They have the volume and power suitable for the size of the bike and are perfect for installation on a future moped.

Most often, the motor is mounted above the rear wheel. This is the easiest installation method and does not require any special modifications to the moped. The engine is firmly attached to the wheel, after which gas is supplied to the steering wheel of the moped.

Of course, there can be various modifications, which depend on the specific characteristics of the bike taken as the basis of the moped, its components, and the motor that is used.

custom bike custom bikes

A really familiar feeling: you saw a great bike at an exhibition or on the Internet and really want to do something similar yourself? You picture yourself racing on it. You scoured the Internet and found a bunch of photos of your favorite motorcycle. Perhaps you even thought about a future model and found a donor motorcycle for the project.

But how do you turn a factory bike into a two-wheeled custom beauty? It will take a lot of special knowledge and skills to work with metal and electronics required to create a custom. But here's the good news: you can learn these skills and have tons of fun along the way. So if you're interested, keep reading. This article is quite long.

But you can stop at this place if you have no patience or have a lot of money. Just pay someone and your dream bike will be ready in 12 weeks. It is also possible that you are happy and calm, owning the same bike as all the neighbors around you. And you don't have to learn the skills that professional customizers have.

In fact, behind every custom motorcycle you look at in a picture on the Internet, there is more than one pair of hands and hundreds of hours of work. You can also do this, just treat it as a long-term project, in the process of which you will learn and acquire new practical knowledge. So let's get started.

The degree of modification.

The first step is to determine what you are technically capable of right now and how long you are willing to wait before the first ride on your new motorcycle. You have a choice:

  1. Make gradual and minor changes to your design bike and keep it rideable at all times.
  2. Radical modifications to your bike, meaning it won't ride until you're done.

Option # 1 is highly recommended for your first job. I saw disassembled motorcycles that, after standing for a long time, were sold for pennies, when new customizers ran out of fuse or simply did not have enough skills. Not their fault, but they may have bitten off more than they could chew. This option allows you to continue to ride, although such changes have limited options. Minor modifications include: replacing the seat, replacing the fuel tank, adding bolt-on parts, or custom paint.

Option # 2 ... keep reading and hopefully you won't sell your project for scrap. If you love to ride and cannot do without a motorcycle, you better take another motorcycle for the duration of the project. Your motorcycle may not be running for a long time (two years is not the limit).

So let's talk about what you might need.

Motorcycle for the project.

Decide which bike will be the basis for your customization. You may have already decided that it will be an air-cooled BMW or a 70s Honda CB or Harley-Davidson. Here are a few points to consider:

  1. Older motorcycles are generally less complex and therefore relatively easier to work with, both mechanically and electronically. If you bought a modern bike, you will need to take into account all the complexity of the electronics: engine management, not to mention ABS, gas management, wheel steering, electronic suspension, etc.
  2. There is more information and spare parts for the more popular older motorcycles. If you want to build a Triumph cafe cruiser or a Harley-Davidson chopper, you will find that there are many “fit” and custom parts available for these platforms.
  3. Rare old motorcycles are, in my opinion, reserved for masochists. Details and information are limited. However, if you happen to find a cheap rare motorcycle, don't let that fact hold you back. You can start with a simpler project and return to a rare bike in a couple of years.
  4. Any motorcycle with a carburetor has tremendous customization potential. In most cases, carbureted motorcycles were produced until about 2000, so donor is not necessarily an ancient bike older than you.

My personal favorite is the 70s Harley-Davidson. You can buy almost any part - old, refurbished or replica. There are many fuel tanks, seats and custom parts in the world. There are tons of internet resources and books for these bikes. You can build a tracker, beaver, chopper or any other modification. And they are pretty simple mechanics and electrics. Very good arguments in favor of a custom donor.

Now it's time to decide on the style you like and decide which donor bike will fit the picture you envisioned.

Design skills.

Beauty is subjective in the eye of the beholder, but some bikes just look so much better than others. Some people (not me) can sketch a motorcycle and determine the proportions correctly. The rest have to rely on photographs. My way is to find a picture of the frame and create my own sketch around the frame. Even if the frame needs modifications, the engine mount and other important elements can be highlighted.

Search online for a frame drawing for your project. Throw in the dimensions of the wheels on another sheet, and cut them out. Place them next to the frame, in place. Sketch the tank and seat. This is how you can create a complete picture of an idea and then bring it to life.

Project management skills.

Wikipedia says that project management "... is the discipline of initiating, planning, executing, supervising, and finishing a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific criteria for success." This is a whole area of research in itself, so I love the simple picture from Kepner-Trego

The steps are pretty obvious. I don’t insist that they are all important to your project, but there are a couple that are worth mentioning. The "design target" can be a sketch or photographs for inspiration. You can spend six months sketching your dream motorcycle. Note that the frame will determine the final look to a large extent. So if you're aiming for something extraordinary, a custom frame (or a heavily modified frame) may be needed, but that means extra time and work.

A Development Framework is a list of actual steps — a breakdown of the tasks that make up a project. You can have big tasks like installing a custom seat or repainting the fuel tank. But you can easily break them down into dozens of sub-tasks. Even if you don't know the sequence of subtasks right away, don't worry - you will learn them along the way. But at least make a list of basic, obvious tasks.

"Sequence of results" - setting objectives in a logical order. For example, finish welding and making the frame BEFORE you paint. Skills for searching and choosing useful information. You are undoubtedly adept at using Google and can find answers to most of your questions. However, some sources are more helpful than others. If you are tied to a specific make and model, forums are the best source for specific information. They are not hard to find. If you have very specific questions to research, such as how to disassemble a particular motor, an hour spent on the forum before getting started will probably save you five hours of work.

Technical drawing skills.

You will be remodeling and even making parts for your motorcycle, so it is very useful to be able to design and draw them before you start making the final parts from expensive materials. Drawings can be made on paper, or through CAD (Computer Aided Design). My favorite 3D modeling packages are Sketchup, OnShape, and Fusion360.

Sketchup is very fast and intuitive, but in my experience OnShape is more powerful and more useful to me as a mechanical engineer. I recently tried the Fusion360 program as well. All of these packages have their own useful features and limitations, so try their free versions before purchasing. And there are great tutorials and free communities for all of these programs. Regardless of the tools and tools you use, it is helpful to understand how to read and create technical drawings. There are some great tutorials and free books on this topic.

Workshop equipment.

You will need to store your motorcycle somewhere while you work on it and your equipment. The lifting platform is very useful when you are working on cold concrete in the midst of a cold winter. It can be constructed from wood (construction pine or plywood). Of course, you can buy budget or expensive platforms if you have a thousand dollars or so in stock. But most likely you will lean towards the budget option, and if you are a mechanic, you can make it much cheaper. More sophisticated versions are possible, such as a hydraulic platform requiring metalworking and welding skills. Equipment such as special cranes, sandblasting equipment and air compressors are very useful but not necessary to buy.

Skills in mechanics.

Working on a motorcycle means getting to know hand tools intimately. Keys, screwdrivers, pliers and a box full of other supplies will become your best friends. If you don't have such tools, start collecting. If you are working on an American motorcycle, you will usually need inch wrenches and connectors. For Japanese and European bikes, you will generally need metric tools. Notice I said "as a rule". There will always be exceptions, but soon you will have assembled your desired set.

If you buy tools, buy the best you can afford. High quality tools are made from better quality steel, have better heat treatment and better finishes. They will serve you for a long time, maybe a lifetime with proper care. A good option is to search for quality used tools on eBay or local sites. Quality tools also give you a sense of satisfaction when working. You are confident that everything is reliable, and you will not harm yourself or the equipment you are working on. The tool of the master speaks about how seriously he takes his work. Over time, your collection will expand and grow. After purchasing all the necessary tools, you need to learn how to use them correctly. The necessary information can be searched on the Internet.

Electronics skills.

I have met many people who are intimidated by the electronics on motorcycles. But do not be afraid, it is easier than, for example, complex carburetors. With enough skill, you can easily handle the electrical system, especially on older motorcycles. The tools and consumables required (wires, connectors, heat shrink wrap, etc.) may vary depending on the job being performed. At the very least, you should purchase a digital multimeter to measure voltage. They can be inexpensive but very useful.

There are many links and books available on this topic. Many forums discuss a bunch of electronics issues and serve as a good source of information on specific queries. Many printed materials suggest starting work with an already significant store of knowledge. But how do you get this knowledge? Let's consider this topic in more detail.

Metals and their properties.

An understanding of metals and their properties will help you select the right metal for your application. When you build a motorcycle, you have to deal with metals anyway. Metallurgy, like all the topics we are talking about in this article, is a separate branch of science and technology. You will have to gain enough knowledge to make the right decisions regarding the use of metals on a project motorcycle.

As a rule, metals are divided into "ferrous" (containing iron) and "non-ferrous" (not containing iron). If you mix metals to produce a metal with specific properties, it is called an "alloy." A numbering system is used to identify the alloy and its contents. For example, the "300 series" is usually stainless steel.

Take the fork from the kitchen drawer. If it is stamped 18-8 Stainless Steel, it means 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel, making it a high quality 304 stainless steel. “CrMo” is chromium and molybdenum mixed with steel (which itself is iron and carbon). Chrome plated steel is identified by 4100 series numbers.

Aluminum is another important material for motorcycles due to its high strength and low weight. We'll talk about these properties in more detail later, but aluminum alloys are very important in the aerospace and automotive industries. We can use aluminum in lightweight parts such as the tank, fenders and body kit, as well as non-structural parts such as brackets or rods for use as spacers or footboards. You definitely don't want to weld a motorcycle frame out of aluminum tubes: take a look at a modern sports bike to see the size of the cast aluminum parts used for frames or swingarms.

The most common metals I use are steel (various alloys including stainless steel), aluminum and bronze for the bushings. They should be available from local companies or online. Locksmith skills. Locksmithing is the use of basic hand tools to shape materials to the desired shape. If you are creating a custom with lots of bolted parts, chances are you will finish your project without even having to pick up a hacksaw and a file.

But if you want to make a custom license plate mount, move the speedometer, make custom footpegs, or a full aluminum fairing for the racer, you have to start with locksmithing. Personally, I like this activity. You take a sheet or piece of metal, cut, grind and make a completely individual, special piece that no one else has. Here you can show your creativity.

Metalworking and manufacturing skills.

After you have neatly shaped a piece from a piece of metal, there are usually some other "operations" you need to do. You can cut, bend, compress, and stretch metal. Drill holes. Add threads.

Bolt, screw, rivet, or weld parts together to form more complex designs. All of these subsequent operations are necessary to make the details of the desired form and function. Note that the previous steps Design, Project Management, Engineering Drawings, Metallurgy and Locksmith are part of the process to help you get to this step.

Metal shaping skills (advanced). The four basic operations you can do with metals are cut, bend, squeeze, and stretch. Cut and Fold speak for themselves. If I were to make an L-shaped bracket out of some kind of flat metal sheet, I would have to cut it out and then bend it into L. But the art of metal forming combines the extra steps of "squeezing" and "stretching" the metal to form complex curves. Fenders and tanks are manufactured using these additional processes. Metal forming is an art and science in and of itself, but basic skills can be applied using hand tools, practice, and a lot of patience.

Welding skills (advanced level).

When you get to the next level, you can start more radical changes to the motorcycle using manufacturing and welding techniques. I would recommend TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) or rather "GTAW" which means "Tungsten Arc Gas Welding". TIG welding gives you a lot of flexibility regarding the types of metals you can weld and the thickness of the materials. Welding is another separate topic to explore, but you can definitely do something yourself. A high quality welder that can handle both ferrous and non-ferrous metals will likely cost around $ 1,000, so this is a significant investment. The best source of information for beginners (and more advanced) is YouTube.

Processing skills (advanced level).

Sometimes you need a special part for a special application. Maybe you are adapting a non-native front wheel to your project bike, or you need footpegs that are not off the shelf. In such cases, it is impossible to continue without access to a lathe or milling machine. This is really already an advanced level and only 1 in 100 has access to such equipment, and the rest will have to find an engineering workshop ready to make such parts (obviously for a certain fee). Lathes and milling machines can be found at affordable prices, but the tools required for each can double or triple those costs.

Surface preparation skills.

Almost every custom project requires painting, powder coating or polishing. Preparing the surfaces for these finishes is of the utmost importance if you plan to paint or polish yourself. This way you can save money. Your design bike may suffer from age and the effects of neglect, dried dirt, oil stains, corrosion, scratches and paint chips. All of these issues can be easily resolved with the right handling. And if you're aiming for a show-class motorcycle, it's important to carefully prepare all surfaces for final finishing.

Painting and polishing skills.

Once the parts have been removed, cleaned, welded and sanded, it's time for the final finishing and reassembly. And it's amazing how much you can achieve in your home workshop or garage with spray paint cans. Would a professional have achieved the best result? Oh sure. But you can learn a lot, achieve satisfaction and control costs by painting yourself.

Result.

Once you have put all the elements together, you have your own custom motorcycle, according to your desires and capabilities. It may take two, five, or ten years - but you will get the highest degree of satisfaction knowing that it was all done by your own hands.

Bicycles, which are called Custom (Custom, Custom), are fundamentally different from others. Usually these are handmade bikes, made to order or with your own hands. They have a unique geometry that exactly matches the requirements of the owner.

In Russia, even a club of custom lovers "RASTABIKE" (Russian Association of Self-Made Transport Machines) was formed. Rastabike is a chopper or cruiser with wide tires and a special frame. and a fork are cooked with their own hands. The most important thing in this business is that your bike will be one and only. You can think about the design yourself, which will make your bike stand out from others.

I want a custom!

To make your custom bike, you need to do the following:

  1. Decide what you need it for: for walking around the city or hard descents from the mountains.
  2. Draw the frame of the future bike, taking into account the desired fit, design and characteristics of the bike.
  3. Cut sheet metal pipes with a laser or buy ready-made ones.
  4. Roll the pipes and cut them off, relying on the drawing.
  5. Weld the pipes, observing the correctness of all angles in accordance with the drawing.
  6. , including non-unique parts: wheels, transmission, etc.

You can also weld the steering wheel, or you can buy it if you don't want to make your own.

Thus, you can make yourself absolutely any frame. The main thing is to do everything exactly, because if there is a distortion, the frame needs to be redone. You won't be able to roll on a crooked frame.

Customizers are convinced that it is completely pointless to buy a bike if you can make it yourself. It will turn out several times cheaper, and the future bike will satisfy all the whims of the owner. All you need to invest in a homemade bike is desire and determination!

Several interesting bike custom

Ipsum

This bike was created by designer Victor Sonna from a variety of waste.

There is a lot of garbage, so there are a lot of materials for creation. All parts are made from rakes, scissors, wrenches, hammers, springs, engine parts, etc. Some parts are welded together, while others are bolted with nuts. Victor proved that even from waste you can create a masterpiece!

Dmitry Grachev got the idea to assemble this custom when he had a dream. He saw the silhouette of a rat in the form of a bike. On the same day, he drew the future rat-style frame. This style assumes the use of old and rusty parts. These components of the bike give it a brutal look.

Custom made in three days. During this time, the creators on the go came up with various gadgets for the bike, so it looks even cooler than planned. On the second day, it was already possible to ride it, but the pedals, steering wheel and many little things were not completed.

On the third day, the Rat was ready to ride. What was the impression of passers-by and even the media! This bike is not the first for Dmitry Grachev, he is already a master in this matter. His collection now has eight custom bicycles.

Alexander Kucheryavy's trip to Spain inspired him to make a bike ride with his own hands. A trike is a bike with three wheels. Alexander likes him very much. You can spend the whole day on it without getting off, because on three wheels you won't topple over and fall.

It is also the most convenient for transporting anything: in front between the wheels there is a roomy trunk. This custom is most suitable for those who travel around the city almost all the time. Alexander Kucheryavyy named his caste "Eva" in honor of the birth of his niece with the same name.

Like other makeshift bikes, this one is made from old tools and other bike parts. Such a functional bike cost Alexander very cheaply, he had to fork out only for painting.

Brothers Dmitry Ryabeka and Evgeny Getta once saw an interesting bike. It immediately became clear that such bikes are unlikely to be mass-produced. The challenge was accepted: they decided that they could make a bicycle with their own hands. Since then, in 2008, they have started making their own unusual bikes, surprising all people who have seen their custom.

The main idea behind the Open Fire bike is to make wheel mounts on one side only. Only a genius of engineering can make a balanced bike of the so-called cantilever type!

Custom got the design of a cool sports bike. The brothers complement each other: Dmitry ponders the appearance, and Eugene is qualitatively working on the embodiment of Dmitry's ideas. The brothers say that this hobby helps to relax and escape from everyday life, relieves accumulated stress.

The Open Fire bike has been put up for sale. A handmade bike, although made with minimal financial investment, is selling for a considerable price. This is due to authorship. Dmitry and Evgeny value their work dearly, which is quite consistent with the effort expended.

Another work by Alexander Kucheryavy. Alexander explained the name as follows: he decided to create a machine of God. This means that the bike should be as beautiful and comfortable as possible.

Aleksandr Kucheryavyi came up with his own method of creating bikes: first, he assembles a draft in a draft and tests it.

Then it identifies the flaws in the model and removes them. When the bike is completely thought out, Alexander reassembles it, but he tries harder: he polishes the seams, cooks everything he needs, and paints it. In the first version of this trike, the seat was between the two rear wheels. It became clear that you can accidentally hit the wheels with your hand, foot or other parts of your body.

This is very important, because Alexander was planning to ride his dog on a bike! Having provided the safest design with special wheel flaps and a small wheel on the animal passenger side, he finally completed his trike.

Gold paint, as the creator decided, reflects the essence of the bike of God. Interesting design of the handlebars and forks - they are made in the form of lightning.

The creator of this bike, again Alexander Kucheryavy, was surprised by customizers from Amsterdam. They were on heavily understated bikes that stood out sharply. These bikes turned out to be the fastest, and their owners were the funniest and most cheerful! Alexander fired up the idea to make himself the same.

The tandem became the basis for the custom. Tandem is a long bike for two people. It is long because it is not for one. Alexander decided that this is exactly the length that is needed for his future bike. The specially cut tandem has been transformed into a "buritto". For beauty's sake, the master attached a license plate from Panama to it. He had a dream to go to this wonderful country.

Since this is a walking bike, Alexander made beer mounts on it. It's so nice to ride in the park with a bottle of delicious drink.

Thin road wheels gave the bike great roll. Three-speed transmission is also for speed.

As a result, the bike received some characteristics: high speed, comfortable fit and unusual design.

Customizing is an art. To master it, you need to try a lot, try, create. A good bike is unlikely you can get it the first time. Perseverance and hard work on the part of the customizer is very important in this matter.
