Renault Sandero 1.6

Year of issue: 2012

Engine: 1.6 (102 HP) Checkpoint: M5

Before Sandero, I had a VAZ-2114, which I safely put on the roof in a roadside ditch. Ice is a dangerous thing, yes. The car went for parts. After "Lada" my Sandero, and even new, seemed the height of comfort. But that was back in 2012. Now the car is almost five years old, it drove 79 thousand km, there were repairs, then according to plan. But there was no road accident pah-pah. She has good karma, along the way ...

The car is nice, practical. The interior is simple, without bells and whistles, there is air conditioning, heated mirrors, music, and I don't need any other "stuffing". The main thing is that everything works. And it works.

The trunk is kapets which is spacious and the luggage comes in with a whistle - that's it, the advantage of the hatchback. Never take a sedan! I loaded 12 bags of grain here (my mother-in-law asked to carry it), folding the rear seats. Normal! Although with a load of about 500 kg, the car is no longer fervently going ... But it goes.

What I’m not used to - a fucking spare wheel in the "basket" under the trunk. It saves space in the trunk itself, cool. But from the point of view of convenience ... A couple of times I had to change a wheel on the road, and both times - in a terrible mud. Got smeared like the devil after these replacements. And one more thing: if you can get a spare tire even more or less easily, then shoving it back into this basket is tin.

Engine. Rides, does not eat oil. I serve regularly. Fuel consumption varies depending on the load, but on average 8-9 liters per hundred, there can be "ten" in the city. Pulls well - for its 102 "mares". The gearbox (MCP) makes noise at speeds above 110 km / h.

Repairs. Nothing broke for big money. In addition to oils and filters, I changed brake pads, lamps in headlights. For about 70 thousand km, I made a ba-a-alshoe TO - replaced the right wheel bearing, right ball joint and steering tip. The latter, rather, for prevention, because it has already shown signs of wear.

I also replaced the timing belt, which was about 10 sput to me. The belt was almost as good as new, and one roller was already loose. The pump seems to be normal. At the same time I checked the crankshaft oil seal - they say that Sandero often "snotty". Everything is fine, dry.

The bodywork on the Sandero is not bad, surprisingly. There are some chips on the arches, but they are small, so we are not talking about painting yet. In winter, I regularly wash it - as soon as the thaw comes, I immediately wash off all the dirt and salt. Inside, rust eats metal in a niche for the battery, fasteners for shock absorbers. Salt on the roads in winter does its job ... The "skids" of the seats began to rust in the cabin, apparently due to the fact that snow rushes here in winter and causes dampness.

Advantages of Renault Sandero 1.6:

Relatively reliable and inexpensive to service

Practical interior and spacious trunk

The suspension is just for our roads - simple, durable and moderately stiff

Disadvantages of Renault Sandero 1.6:

Inconvenient location of the spare wheel outside, under the bottom of the trunk

Soundproofing about nothing, glued the interior with vibroplast, it took about 30 sheets, now everything is much better

Noisy gearbox

Rusting seat skids

Which appeared in our country under the hood of the second generation Renault Sandero is not a novelty. A gasoline, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder in-line, 16-valve engine with a working volume of 1.2 liters has already been installed on the Clio, Canggu, Symbol… The new Sandero engine with a capacity of 75 hp. has a factory name Renault D4F 1.2 16V... Its progenitor was the 8-valve D7F, the same volume with a capacity of 59 hp, which was discontinued in 2000.

Engine block Renault Sandero 1.2 cast iron, aluminum block head. The very design of the 16-valve mechanism is interesting. Oddly enough, there is only one camshaft located on top. The timing drive itself has belt... A schematic illustration of the design of this engine is below.

The actual camshaft of the 1.2 motor, through the original design of double roller rockers, opens the valves in pairs. That is, instead of one valve, the designers decided to install two small valves, it was such a device that made the engine more powerful and economical. A photo of the cylinder head of the Renault Sandero 1.2 engine disassembled below in the photo.

The pipes that protrude from the head of the block are wells for candles, it is there that they are screwed in. Typically, 16-valve engines with 2 camshafts have hydraulic lifters that automatically adjust the valve clearance. There is only one camshaft here and the thermal clearance of the valves must be adjusted manually, approximately every 80 thousand kilometers. The timing belt is replaced every 100-120 thousand kilometers.

Renault Sandero 1.2 16V 75 hp engine (D4F model) characteristics, fuel consumption, dynamics

  • Working volume - 1149 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 69.0 mm
  • Piston stroke - 76.8 mm
  • Power hp / kW - 75/55 at 5500 rpm
  • Torque - 107 Nm at 4250 rpm
  • Maximum speed - 156 kilometers per hour
  • Acceleration to the first hundred - 14.5 seconds
  • Fuel consumption in the city - 7.7 liters
  • Combined fuel consumption - 6 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 5.1 liters

The main advantage of this engine is low fuel consumption. In addition, the production cost of this motor is not high, therefore, the power unit is perfectly suitable as a base engine for a budget car. However, it should be noted that the dynamics of the Logan / Sandero 1.2 engine is modest to put it mildly.

The indisputable advantages of the first generation Renault Logan were enough, otherwise the car would not have been so popular over the ten years during which it was produced.

Moreover, stable success in the primary market later continued among used cars. Selling a used Renault Logan was no problem.

The Romanian-French sedan lacked only grace. And although in this segment design is not the main thing, the angularity and roughness of Logan often turned off customers under thirty.

But the Sandero hatchback, which was launched into production on December 16, 2009, at the Renault Moscow plant, was greeted by the audience with trepidation, almost instantly forming a months-long queue to buy a car, despite the still blazing crisis. At that time, it was possible to buy three-volume Logan almost immediately.

The five-door Sandero, built on the same B0 platform, was essentially Logan, adopting a new body style. At the same time, the similarities between Logan / Sandero were hidden from view. Rounded optics, a slightly softer silhouette with embossing on the sides, light shapes combined with easier access to the thinner trunk.

Logan's visual clumsiness was barely read in Sandero. And all this for a symbolic surcharge of 10,000 rubles, compared to a similar sedan.
But the list of breakdowns, miscalculations and age diagnoses for "Logan" and "Sandero" is almost identical. Perhaps the only difference is the corrosion resistance of the metal.

If the sedans of the first years of production rusted, until in 2007 their bodies began to be galvanized, then the hatchback is devoid of such problems in principle. The Russian debut of Sandero happened almost simultaneously with the restyled sedan - at the end of 2009. By the way, this is precisely why the hatchback was never updated, at the end of 2014 passing the baton to the next Sandero.

Along with the "Logan", the five-door Sandero has reasonably gained fame as a problem-free device that does not annoy the owner with serious and expensive worries. And although there were significantly more Logans in driving schools, taxis and delivery services than Sandero, there is no doubt about the inherent resilience of the hatchback. However, whims do happen. But the list of minor flaws seen for Sandero on paper or "tablet" looks worse than in real life. With age, the illumination of the partings and buttons in the cabin gradually dies. The left steering column lever, loaded with a horn and "turn signals", is rented. Lamps burn out. The most annoying thing on this list is liters of water in the doorway. Over time, the "gate" loses its tightness and is filled with liquid. If the previous owner did not control the problem, there is a potential threat of electrical breakdowns and the attack of rust, although the car itself is not susceptible to it.

It will not be harmful to check the condition of the radiator. From time to time, stones fall into it through the decorative lattice. And in some specimens, the detail was completely destroyed by itself, spontaneously. Such an unpleasant surprise was usually resolved by a guarantee. By the way, Renault is very loyal. There are precedents when even a standard jack was changed under warranty.

All Renault Sandero engines came from Logan (within the Russian market), which, in turn, received them from the long-rotted ancestors of the 80s. All engines produced in Moscow by Sandero are gasoline and naturally aspirated, with four cylinders and in-line configuration. Volume - 1.4-1.6. Power: from 75 to 105 forces. The torque is in the range of 112-147 Nm. And if the smaller power unit is free of variations (always 75 hp and 112 Nm), then 1.6 can be different: eight- (Renault K7M) or sixteen-valve (Renault K4M). The first produces 84 hp. and 128 Nm, the second - 102 or 105 horses, depending on the configuration and 147 Nm of torque. In general, each of the engines does not pester with breakdowns. Sometimes it may only be necessary to replace the crankshaft oil seal and the water pump. There are cases of oil leaks from under the valve cover. Nothing more serious with the Sandero engine is written in kind. Only one hundred sixteen-valve specimens are intimidated, in which the unit “exploded” even before the first maintenance. But with such a large circulation, this is rather an exception. In addition, the issue of these hundred cars, most likely, has already been decided by the former owner. True, most likely on their own, since neither the plant, nor the dealers, nor the representative office admitted the defect.

Transmission claims depend on the type of transmission. Most Sanderos are friends with a "mechanic" with five gears, but there are examples with a four-speed "automatic". And if the "mechanics", as a maximum, bothers with noises, then the "automatic" ... This outdated unit is perhaps the worst "automatic" of our time. The box rarely survives without repair up to 70-80 thousand km. Gear changes are jerky, and active driving and cold starts drastically shorten service life.

The chassis is the strongest side of the B0 platform in general and Sandero as its carrier in particular. Thanks to the long-travel and energy-intensive suspension, the car can handle broken asphalt incredibly easily. In addition, the geometric cross-country ability allows even an ordinary hatchback to easily feel on the terrain, not to mention the raised version of the Stepway. At the same time, attention to the suspension is not required until 80,000 km. Previously, brakes that don't like dusty directions can bother you.

The salon is aging slowly. Visually, materials begin to wear out closer to 100,000 km, although nuances such as seat creaks can appear much earlier. For some reason, the muffler rusts. It happens that the rear window heating partially breaks (no more than a couple of threads). Moreover, the glasses themselves are "armored". Sandero painlessly catches boulders from the track.

Exterior and interior: the car looks very cute in any color. It may not be as modern as Rio or Solaris, but unlike the latter, it lacks aggressive details that irritate the eye. At first glance, the interior is noticeably simpler, but the plastic is visually and to the touch more pleasant than in the aforementioned models. The backlight also appears to be softer. The upholstery is nice and looks more interesting.
In my package there is a heated seat, which I have never used. Even in severe frost, the priest is already warm. I also consider the electric drive of the rear windows unnecessary, but a huge plus for Sandero is that they are controlled between the front seats, which allows the passengers in the back and the driver to use them without unnecessary buttons and gestures. The windows can also be locked if you are carrying children or drunk friends). The salon seems to me to be very spacious, and the volume and shape of the trunk so far only pleases - the rear seats have not yet been folded. There are 3 head restraints at the back, which is very convenient in the future. The middle one can be easily removed, but there is no need for this - in the lowered state, it does not block the view in any way.
Cons: I may of course be long-legged and short-handed, but with a comfortable driving position, I have to stretch a little to the control buttons for the windows, kondeem and emergency gang. Cup holders, which perfectly hold both large Makov's glasses and small bottles, are also not very convenient (between the dashboard and the control knob), although at the same time they keep you from the temptation to gulp coffee while driving. I have an ashtray there and I sometimes smoke in traffic jams (I'm bad and sorry for the car, yes), and for the ashtray this position is just convenient, since holding my hand on the handle (I constantly switch to neutral) it is convenient to shake off the ashes and lower / raise the glass ...

In move.
There are no complaints about noise insulation, given the class of the car. The suspension is good news (especially since the roads on my usual route are smashed to smithereens).
The side mirrors at first seemed very small (compared to the Corolla), but in practice this has no effect. I realized that the question of the need for their electric drive is controversial, since, in fact, once having adjusted "for yourself", nothing needs to be changed. But when parking in "half a place" and maneuvering through the labyrinths of crowded courtyards, I often change their position, which allows you to squeeze anywhere.
The mirrors are folded manually, which I see only as a plus. When pressed against the movement, they spring, so when in the parking lot I was not slightly touched by a car parked nearby, there was no damage.
Hurray high ground clearance, we are not afraid of any curbs and the possibility of parking on the floor of a snowdrift made my life much easier.
In addition to the fog lights, there is a rear fog lamp. which I turned on once - when parking backwards in a terrible blizzard, and it helped a lot. And the rear windscreen washer is generally irreplaceable.
I had never thought about it before, but while driving, I appreciated the location of the horn in Sandero (on the turn signal and light control lever, and not in the center of the steering wheel), since this allows you to honk without taking your hands off the steering wheel, which is very important for inexperienced drivers, especially at high speeds.

Automatic transmission. I have never had any problems with the mechanics and I really love to ride on the handle. I wanted the automatic machine because of banal laziness, since my average speed of movement along the daily route (according to Sandero's on-board computer) is 13.2 km / h. Although all my acquaintances say that this is normal for a machine, the car slows down when the gears are hung and it pisses me off (but I think most girls will not notice this). But it downshifts excellently, I myself did not achieve such smoothness on the mechanics. But these are all trifles, because there is the ability to change gears manually (Hurray-hurray-hurray!) And the winter mode, which allows you to move on a slippery road from second gear, which Sandero's classmates do not have, so I'm still delighted.

In addition to the above, the following advantages were found:

Oil does not eat. At all.
- A large volume of the gas tank (50 liters declared, I can easily fit about 53-55) in comparison with classmates.
- High capacity battery.
- It "s bigger on the inside! Huge roominess in every sense. Passengers in the back are comfortable (even long-legged men :). The front passenger has a lot of legroom. No one has banged their heads against the ceiling yet."
The trunk is very large. Moreover, with the rear seat folded and the front passenger backrest bent, 2 meters long beams were transported. It came in very handy when doing home renovations. Even in my configuration, the back of the rear sofa is divided and, if desired, you can carry both large-sized items and two passengers.
- Three seat belts in the back.
- It was accidentally discovered that the lamp in the cabin has a third mode besides off / on: if you put the switch in the middle position, the lamp lights up when the doors are opened and goes out by itself after some time after closing.
- Sitting on long trips at first seemed not very comfortable, but over time you can get used to it. One thing is for sure - the front ones are MUCH more comfortable than in my classmate H. Solaris, in which I had to ride for several hours. However, it may be a matter of habit. But after 2 years of operation, Sanya does not cause much discomfort even on a seven-hour trip.
- Heated seats pleasantly warms the lower back.
- Visually small mirrors still do not cause problems, the struts do not obstruct the view.
- The quality of the bumper is especially delightful. In the summer V. Polo rubbed me sideways: only a couple of scratches on the paint remained on my front bumper, but on the Polo's door there was a dent and considerable paint and varnish damage. Recently, on a winter road, as a result of a skid, I was not lucky to meet a post, as a result of which the headlight was smashed to smithereens, the fog lamp was torn out with a mount (but the whole one was hanging on the wires inside), and the bumper remained completely intact, except for damage to the paint. The speed was not the highest, the seat belts kept everyone without a single bruise or scratch, the airbags did not fire - for which, too, many thanks to the car, because the Solaris pillow almost broke his nose in a similar blow at low speed.
- The bottom is well protected.
- The full size spare wheel and everything needed to reinstall the wheel came in handy.

I am neutral about the following:
- The headlights do not go out when the ignition is off, but the car sounds like a reminder to turn them off when the door is opened.
- Not the best noise isolation began to strain, but with the presence of radio or music, everything is fine. This is one of those things, like the suspension, that you consider shit when comparing to expensive cars, but when you return to earth you realize that everything is better than it could have been. Suspension, after 2 years of not the most careful driving on pieces of asphalt (many of my routes are expensive to name) and a speed bump, is more than alive.
- A couple of times the radio & cigarette lighter fuse has blown. The problem arose from plugging the phone's charging plug into the cigarette lighter with the ignition on. The fuses are located in an easily accessible place (you just need to open the driver's door), there are spare fuses on the compartment cover and a diagram of which one is responsible for. At first, the problem was solved by connecting devices before turning the key, then a "double" was bought and the problem was self-destructed.
- Inconvenient cup holders, do not hold half-liter bottles very tightly.

Minuses:
- The factory does NOT install a cabin filter (in any configuration, even on my Prestige), the place for it is closed with a non-removable plastic plug. The problem is easily solved if you have Google, eyes, hands, a knife and a purchased filter.
- Blowing off the windshield covers a small area.
- The mode of operation of the rear wiper is annoying - it can only move quickly, the washer does not start working immediately, forcing the wiper to rush dry.
- Fuel consumption in the city causes only sadness. The actual measurement was not possible, but the on-board computer shows 13.9-15.1 l / 100 km at an average speed of 12 to 14 km / h. But on the highway, the consumption corresponds to the declared one. On a 600 km trip, it turned out to be 8.3 with an average speed of 86 km / h - this is movement at a speed of 110-120 km / h with several stops without turning off the ignition and dropping to 60 on the section being repaired. On the way back, the consumption was slightly higher: 8.6 on the on-board computer with an average speed of 58 km / h.
- THAT at the officials could be cheaper.

In general, I am very happy with the car, I will be happy to drive it for a couple of years, if the crisis does not subside.

Good day! So I am ripe for writing a review on the ownership of a car produced by us under the Renault Sandero brand.

Before buying, I owned a tired "nine", in which something flew periodically, but always drove home to the house. Thanks for that! In official use were: VAZ 2104, Citroen Berlingo 1, GAZ Sobol, Daewoo Nexia, Passat B7, Hyundai Getz.

By what criteria did I choose:

New, because I don't want to buy a pig in a poke. Needed under me, not in the garage.

The car is needed to work and move from point A to point B, therefore, no complaints.

Limited budget of 400 ± tr.

Reliable, unpretentious.

Self-serviceable, inexpensive consumables and spare parts.

Body type sedan or 5-door hatch, because transportation of oversized cargo and passengers. Now, of course, I'm thinking about the carriage.

So, I went to the salons, like Rabinovich in the workshops in a joke, asking the price, studying the market. Considering this or that option, I read reviews in the net and talked with experienced people. Considered: Priora, Logan, Nexia, Accent, Lacetti. Grant came out, but, according to reviews, it was still raw.

So, briefly about the impressions of the considered cars:

Nexia. Not satisfied with the poor quality of the iron. According to the stories, the build quality has deteriorated lately. Weak generator and pump.

Priora. Normal appearance. Restyling of the 10th family. Everything has long been said about the creaks and crickets of the cabin. Small dirty tricks - all took place on a 9-ke. Reliability. Fifty fifty. Maybe in 15 minutes you will return to the salon, or maybe three or four years, the flight is normal, unless, of course, you will not kill.

These 50 to 50 dropped out in the cabin when viewed, when the driver's seat refused to move at first, and then the engine did not start at all.

Accent. Simple austere appearance, no zest. Reliable suspension. Taxi drivers are happy. The only thing is the low fit, although many people like it. True and the price is under 500 and above.

What about the presence in the salons? Not available, there is some kind of perturbation at the plant, production has been suspended and it is not known whether it will resume. It's a pity. By the way, I heard that they are still being produced and sold in Rostov-on-Don.

Logan. For some reason, the appearance did not evoke any emotions. To put it mildly, not for everybody. Large spacious interior, high seating position, austere panel made of oak plastic, which looks more like a panel from the commercial "pies" of previous generations.

I had heard about the quality of the suspension and the reliability of the units earlier, but I also knew that he would not be able to please with any dynamics.

At that time, the Lacetti was already discontinued, there were leftovers on sale in minced meat at inflated prices for me. And it turned out later that the last batches could not boast of the build quality.

In short, without departing far from the loganaceous, the choice fell on the Renault Sandero. It seemed the most optimal for me in terms of requirements and suitable for the money, from the car I was considering.

That is, that is, for the cause will do. The car completely cost 405,000 rubles. This amount includes: installation of wheel arch liners with mudguards, radiator protection, music, alarm, front windows. Rather, they have already been installed.

Skipping the story about the work of the salon managers and the purchase, I will move on to the impressions of the operation of this unit.

Impressions

The car interior is spacious. Plenty of overhead and side room. There is enough space in front for two large men. When operating a manual transmission stick, you do not touch the passenger's elbow and knee. Three people of average build can fit in the back.

The seating position is high, which is, in principle, a plus for me. I will not say anything about the comfort of the seats, the lower back begins to buzz after 1.5 - 2 hours of travel. You sit and fidget constantly, trying to find a comfortable position. I partially solved the problem by throwing a massager on the chair. Lateral supports are weak.

The trunk is moderately roomy. Two "occupant's dreams" can be shoved and plus on little things. The backrest of the rear seat folds down completely. Folding the back of the rear seat, they fit a washing machine, a couple of cases with tools, two-meter polypropylene pipes.

Visibility will not say that it is bad. However, the wide A-pillars are a little uncomfortable when viewing cornering. With mirrors, namely the right one, things are worse. They are too small for a wide cabin. If you can still shake your head when parking, then when changing lanes in a dense stream on the highway it is a bit inconvenient. Installation of a more panoramic salon mirror will help.

The interior, as already noted, is Logan's, taken from the commercial "pies" of previous generations. The panel is made of clumsy oak plastic. At first glance, there is no ergonomics, however, having driven, I quickly got used to it. The signal is located on the turn signal handle, it does not cause any inconvenience. As for the squeaks of plastic, I will say that they appear in the cold winter, especially the knock of the electrical wiring blocks.

In the summer, I did not notice anything criminal, unless, of course, rushing along the road broken into the trash. Steering wheel with power steering, has tilt adjustment. When you turn on the direction indicator, both indicators light up - what is the catch, I do not understand. Noise isolation is weak.

Winter operation. The stove is not bad. In general, the car warms up quickly. But here the windshield is blown at one point. I have to help with a scraper, cleaning off partially thawed ice. The rear window is electrically heated. Factory wiper brushes are crap, they leave snot (especially the driver's). Replaced.

I don't think it makes much sense to write about the dynamics of a car, everyone knows everything. Boiled. The only thing, having rolled around the city on a 16-valve Logan, did not notice much difference with his own. I won't talk about the behavior on the track - I haven't tried it.

Fuel consumption is not measured. But it feels like, in spite of the volume, it eats with appetite. Perhaps the driving style affects, but there is no goal to monitor the economy, instead of the road situation. Between 92 and 95, I did not notice much difference in dynamics.

The box is mechanical, 5-step. The first gear is short. The feeling that it is intended to just get under way. But the sixth asks. What morality the designers used is not clear. The gears are stuck with some effort. The people note that this is treated by replacing the native oil.

I have no complaints about the clarity of the inclusion. I adjusted the clutch for myself. Moreover, the assemblers forgot to put the locknut. Corrected.

The suspension is soft, swallows all irregularities. It's a pleasure to drive along a country road. However, with all this, when entering a turn, roll is felt. Accelerated on the highway to 130. The feeling that you are about to take off. Further it is already scary. When changing lanes on the highway at speed, the car has to be caught.

Light. I will rate my native light at four with a minus. In principle, you will not, of course, poke around like a blind person, but on unlit sections of the track you would need more help. For three years, there were no problems with the burnout of light bulbs.

About maintenance. I carry out the maintenance of the car myself. I pour the slurry specified by the manufacturer. In the fall of that year, I came across a fogging of the left inner CV joint. Having rummaged through the forums, I found that the sore is widespread. People on the forums go boiling water, which needs to be changed and better assembled with the drive.

The guys from the base advised to keep an eye on the oil in the box, and if there are leaks on the drive, then change it. From experience it is known that new ones will not keep you waiting long either. By the way, about the oil level in the box - why the dipstick is not provided is not clear.

By the way, after detecting fogging, I added 200 ml of oil to the box. After that, after six months of operation, there was the same amount of oil in the box. There was an opinion that it is possible to underfill from the plant, tk. smudges have not been observed anywhere.

Yes, I would also like to draw the attention of the owners to check the tightness of the air filter mounting bolts. There is such a jamb that they love to unwind and get lost over time. I put them on the growers.

When replacing candles, inconvenience is caused by deep candle wells. Namely, the dirt accumulated in them, which has to be picked out with a splint and blown out with a compressor. It is better to buy a long candlestick in advance so that the knob does not cling to anything.

In September, in the plans for carrying out maintenance, I want to clean the throttle valve, clean the IAC and replace the O-ring. lately began to notice a slight swimming of revolutions on the XX. Air leaks are possible.

Well, in general, for now, probably all. What else I remember, I will definitely add. I tried to write an impartial review based on my own impressions of the operation.

Outcome

Summing up, I want to say that the machine copes with the tasks assigned to it, I did not expect anything more from it. For the money, at the time of purchase, I did not find an alternative for myself. In the future, of course, I am considering a minivan, but the crisis ... It is not known what will happen next.
