I already wrote about how, and today the story is about a car that marks the segment of family SUVs. With seven seats, but without excessive cross-country ability and brutality.

Chervrolet Captiva is simply an ideal representative of this class: a simple and large interior, good asphalt habits, seven seats and a relatively low price by the standards of the class. Moreover, it was possible to purchase a simple front-wheel drive version if snow and mud were excluded in principle. Actually, in this format, the car was created not at all for Russia, but for the United States. However, we also have a large and inexpensive car, as they say, "went" - its production was even set up at the company's St. Petersburg plant.

Structurally, Captiva and soplatform Opel Antara with Cadillac SRX are clean cars: the engine is transverse in front, and the suspensions are completely light - MacPherson strut front and L-shaped arm, and a multi-link at the back. The salon is simply huge, and the rear and middle row seats fold down, forming a flat floor, and even the right passenger seat has a "tricky" back that can be folded flush with the resulting platform. The third row, of course, is not very spacious, but on cars of this size, it is designed more for children than for full-fledged accommodation of adults.

But even in the seven-seater version, the trunk has a larger volume than that of other C-class hatches. Rear axle drive connected - through a coupling manufactured by JTEKT. It uses the same ITCC system and the same purely electromagnetic clutch that was installed on the Toyota RAV4. The system is simple and reliable, but does not like slipping very much - for a moment it is enough from the motor, but it does not tolerate torsional vibrations of the transmission and overheats instantly.

Electronic assistants

After the 2011 update, the Hill Descent Control system and the hill start assistant for cars with manual transmission appeared. The forced blocking of the drive clutch was never added. But the stabilization system was updated, which was important for a fast and tall car. In the model's mainstream market, the US, it was housewives rather than tough macho racers who were driving. The handling of the car, by the way, turned out to be quite good, despite the visually very high and narrow body. Not very large rolls, rather sharp steering and even a slight tendency to oversteer in extreme conditions - apparently, it was because of it that the stabilization was in the basic configuration.

Motors

What cannot be said about the car at first glance is that it is one of the most powerful crossovers in its class. Initially, the top-end configuration was supplied with a 3.2 V6 engine with a capacity of 230 hp, and after restyling, its place was taken by another V6 with a volume of 3.0 liters, which developed, depending on the market, from 249 to 283 hp. A slightly more momentary, but not more powerful, 3.6-liter engine was also installed on cars for the United States, which in fact differed little from the first two. Post-styling diesels also showed record power - the older version of the engine developed as much as 184 hp.

Less powerful motors were also enough. Petrol "fours" with a volume of 2.4 liters until 2011 developed an unimpressive 136 hp, and after that the engine was replaced with a completely new one, but of the same working volume, with a capacity of 167 hp. Diesels 2 liters 150 forces from the car before the restyling of the Italian design. These motors are rare under the hood of other GM cars, but they are often found on Hyundai / Kia models. After restyling, the engine volume increased to 2.2 liters and two power gradations appeared - the top engine 184 hp. and weaker, developing "only" 163.

Restyling

Chervrolet Captiva 2006–2011

The 2011 update didn't just affect the motors. The style of the car has radically changed, the soft and not very expressive appearance was transformed by a new grille and bumper, making the car much more aggressive and noticeable. And the five-speed automatic transmissions produced by Aisin were replaced by GM's own gearboxes, which turned out to be not the best solution. The second restyling of 2013 did not bring significant technical changes, and the appearance has changed almost imperceptibly.

Breakdowns and problems in operation

Body and interior

The body of GM Korea cars does not differ in a particularly durable paintwork, but even at the age of ten, there are no obvious problems with corrosion. The new GM standard affects the quality of protection of steel structures. What is needed here is galvanized, and something else is covered with a thick layer of mastic and plastic. They forgot only about the fifth door, and some of the seams in the engine compartment may have damage to the sealant and traces of corrosion already at the age of several years.

A clear disadvantage is that the thickness of the metal of the outer panels is not impressive, they bend well with a finger. This is all the more strange because the weight of the car is more than one and a half hundred kilograms more than that of its main competitors. But according to the reviews of those who have visited the Captiva in serious accidents, the secret is revealed: the car has a very solid foundation, more reminiscent of the design of the side members of serious "crooks" than a light crossover. The noise isolation, adding weight, is also very high quality - even the role model in this class, the RAV4 of the second and third generations, turned out to be much noisier. However, the salons of the platform-based Antara and SRX are even quieter, so the Captiva is still far from the limit of perfection.

The interior is quite simple - there is decent, but not great plastic, cheap leather and simple high-quality fabric. The cheaper Chevrolet styling greatly understates the car, distancing it from the more expensive Opel and Cadillacs. It is especially offensive for the quality of the seats - a more noble profile would not hurt the driver. In the process of restyling, the interior was "refined" by making it visually more expensive, but, unfortunately, this modernization did not affect the seats.

Electrician

The electrical equipment of the body and interior is not completely problem-free, although it does not present expensive troubles - this is generally typical for GM cars. Worse, the under-hood wiring and underbody electronics suffer quite a bit. The engine compartment "braid" is too "delicate" - the sand trapped in the corrugations after several years of operation can cause numerous violations of the insulation of wires and equally numerous failures in the on-board systems - and mainly in the engine.

After driving off-road, it is recommended to thoroughly rinse the engine compartment and generally keep it clean. By the way, "sweating" motors create a lot of troubles - traces of grease over time heavily pollute the compartment from below and allow sand to linger inside. The wiring to the ABS sensors and the AWD clutch is also vulnerable. After forcing fords and serious puddles, it is recommended to check the tightness of the connectors or at least once every couple of years to put grease in them. Severely worn front optics, a leaky brake light on the rear door, poor wiring of the rear license plate lights are generally characteristic of all inexpensive cars, you should not take them as a serious shortcoming of the model. Well, there are no failures of the on-board multimedia system here simply because of its simplicity.

Chassis

Car suspensions for passenger cars can be considered exemplary reliable and inexpensive, moreover. They even withstand off-road trips without much damage, unless, of course, they drive on the ground and pits in a loaded car. However, the reliability of the shock absorbers is below average - after 30-40 thousand mileage, they will lose efficiency, and the car's handling will noticeably deteriorate. You can reach up to 100-150 thousand with a "native" kit, they will not flow if you do not overheat them, but the pleasure of driving is not the same.

The stabilizer struts are a consumable, just like the bushings. With an active movement style, they have to be changed at every second TO, if you do not want to listen to their knocking. By the way, its reason may be not only in the suspension - there is a very "delicate" steering rack, which begins to knock at runs over 50 thousand. But if you monitor the fluid level in the power steering expansion tank, it can work in this state for a very long time - backlashes are minimal, and leaks are usually almost invisible. The power steering pump is not very reliable, but pumps from Opel cars are perfect with minimal alteration, although they "do not beat" by the code. This will come in handy if the owner of the car missed the ATP level in the tank at least once, because the part does not differ in reliability.

Transmission

The reliability of the transmissions can be generally assessed as average. Manual gearboxes generally do not cause any particular problems - you just need to monitor the oil level, because it is quite traditional for GM gearboxes to "sweat" with oil. The strength of the front CV joints and drives is sufficient, except that with a 3.6 engine and a top diesel engine there are cases of "cutting" the splines on the shafts - most likely, one of the drives was not very successful. At the same time, the hinges themselves are reliable, withstand even short-term work with a torn cover, but here it is important to notice oil drips in time. The SHRUS covers themselves are too "gentle", they break easily off-road. The same problem - the propeller shaft on all-wheel drive versions, it usually fails the rubber intermediate support, and then the bearing. Theoretically, with such a breakdown, it is necessary to replace the propeller shaft entirely, but in fact there is quite a propeller shaft bearing with a dimension of 71.4 * 24.6, which can be found even on GAZ cars, and a repair insert for an elastic band can also be bought. It is more difficult to break the clutch, because it turns off at the slightest attempt to overheat - the emergency mode starts already at 94 degrees. It does not have a separate radiator, as well as a complex hydraulic system. Failures are usually associated with a failure of the electronics of the control system, which entails a failure of the mechanical part. The rear gearbox is also quite "gentle", it does not like "gas to the floor" starts on the asphalt and sometimes fails with V6 engines.

2 / 2

The type of automatic transmission and its reliability depend on the year of manufacture. Before restyling, there was an Aisin AW55-51, well-known and. I have already written about the features of its operation, but I will repeat: it does not like overheating very much, has a small resource of blocking linings for the gas turbine engine and a very "delicate" valve body. Captiva got the last revision of the box, which was mostly problem-free. With a calm driving style and a serviceable engine cooling system, it has a chance of 150-200 thousand mileage without much hassle, with active pedaling, more frequent oil changes will be required, at least once every 40 thousand kilometers, and replacement of the gas turbine engine linings at the first signs of wear.

After restyling in 2011, a new "six-stage" of GM's own production of the 6T45 / 6T40 series was delivered. Unlike the Japanese automatic transmission, it turned out to be more twitchy, more prone to overheating, with an even smaller resource of the gas turbine engine and serious problems with the liners of the box itself. In addition, in the first years of production, there were enough "children's" problems with the valve body, and the cooling system was left the same, which was clearly not enough in the new box. As a result, restyled cars have every chance of getting into the "box" service earlier than dorestyle. There are often cases of failures during the warranty period, with very low mileage. True, the box is a little easier for minor repairs, they are cheaper. But if the bushings are damaged, an extremely costly operation will have to be done - it is often easier to change the box assembly.

Motors

One of the great advantages of cars before restyling is, oddly enough, the weakest 2.4 engine. After all, this is an old Opel engine, only with a very "clamped" firmware and bored out to a volume of 2.4. The motor itself is extremely reliable - it has a cast-iron block that is resistant to overheating and other troubles, a strong piston group, a simple control system and an inexpensive "piping". For those who lack 136 strength, there are many tuning developments, ranging from the shafts from the X20XER and Z22XE engines to the Red Top cylinder head with the C20XE with a serious rework and even the installation of a turbocharger. In addition, consumables for it can be found in almost any village, and mechanics know it, because this series of engines has been produced for good twenty years.

The newer 2.4 motor is also familiar to all opelevoders - those who have seen motors of the Z22SE series, for example. This is a more modern design, with a timing chain and balance shafts in the block. And at the same time - without repair dimensions, with an unpredictable timing resource, expensive parts, etc. But in general, the engine is very resourceful and, moreover, much more powerful in stock. Particular attention should be paid to the timing resource - it is the main supplier of problems here. If something rings on a cold one, then it would be better to immediately find 40-60 thousand rubles to replace the entire set, otherwise it can pull out the weak pins of the tensioners or dampers, grind the front cover, and in especially severe cases, the timing phases are violated or the chain simply breaks off ... There are ceramic valve guides in the block head, so you can't get away with a little blood - most likely you will need expensive repair or replacement. Unfortunately, it is impossible to say when the thunder will strike - usually the chains are all 120-150 thousand. This, of course, is not much, but by modern standards, it is quite a decent result. However, sometimes problems start already at 40-60 thousand mileage. Fortunately, craftsmen are familiar with these problems from structurally similar Opel engines, and there are ways to make repairs cheaper, moreover, avoiding the recurrence of problems in the future. Rarer V6 engines are also familiar from Opel and GM cars. Engines of 3.2 and 3.6 liters are “relatives” of Opel Vectra 2.8T and Alfa Romeo 3.2. These highly reliable motors have several weak points. Firstly, the resource of the timing chain is limited here - it is unlikely to pass more than 150 thousand kilometers. Moreover, the cost of two circuits and four phase shifters is comparable to the price of a contract motor.

Secondly, motors are prone to overheating, and the slightest contamination of the radiators or the failure of one of the fans immediately takes the temperature into the red zone. After that, the engine almost always acquires a good oil "appetite", which can only be defeated by a bulkhead. And the ignition modules fail even if there is not much overheating, just an increase in the temperature in the engine compartment due to the installation of the crankcase protection may be enough for the replacement of the MZ to become regular. By the way, a feature of cars with V6 before restyling is also a very expensive exhaust system with a valve that turns off the left muffler at partial loads. Therefore, the left one turns out to be twice as expensive as the right one, all 23 thousand rubles. Since 2010, this system of questionable efficiency has been removed, and the mufflers are again the same. By the way, the designation of the motor according to the Opel catalog Z32SE is misleading; it differs very much from the motor with the same name on the Vectra C. For example, the "Vektrovsky" timing belt has a belt and the block is completely different. Try not to flaunt your knowledge of the motor model in front of sellers and choose spare parts carefully. The 3.0 engine is a newer series, it has direct injection, a more reliable timing and a very successful injection pump. It is too early to talk about any serious problems, they did not have time to manifest themselves, but many owners noted a decent oil "appetite" and the same tendency to overheat at the slightest hint of contamination of the cooling system.

All gasoline engines are highly recommended with an oil change interval of no more than 10 thousand kilometers, well, except for the good old 2.4 136 hp. this is not so critical. And the "native" oil DEXOS2 5W30 is also not the best choice. For V6 engines, SAE50 oil is generally recommended, and regular SAE40 is sufficient for inline "fours". By the way, the resource of the timing chain, according to some reviews, strongly depends on the oil and its level. Diesel engines 2.0 on cars before restyling did not cause any particular complaints from the owners. Despite the fact that they arrived in Russia only after a run across Europe, such cars were not officially sold with us. Due to the small amount of serious statistics on them, there are no complaints, except that there are complaints about the not very large resource of injectors, sensitivity to bad diesel fuel and the resource of the timing belt in our conditions is not more than 60 thousand kilometers. More powerful 2.2 diesels are just too new for serious breakdowns - in addition to typical diesel problems with fuel equipment, there are almost no other complaints, except that the automatic transmission paired with the most powerful engines with a torque of 400 Nm is hard. There are cases of box failure during the warranty period.

What should you buy?

If the dynamics of a 2.4 pre-styling engine with automatic transmission are enough for you, then the Chevrolet Captiva is a good choice. You just have to be content with both the old interior and the rather boring appearance. More recent cars seem to have fewer problems, but a noticeable increase in the number of automatic transmission failures suggests that this unit may become really troublesome in the near future. On heavy cars, all wear processes go faster, and the difficulties faced by the owners of the Opel Astra and Chevrolet Cruze with the 6T40 automatic transmission will seem like a trifle in comparison with the troubles of the owners of Captiva. The restyled 2.4, in fact, is also not a very new engine, it is noticeably more dynamic and powerful, and in combination with a manual transmission, any difficulties in operation are not expected up to runs of 120-150 thousand. Perhaps, in the new series of engines, the chances of early failure of the timing have also decreased, so this is a good choice. Here are the V6 engines, before and after restyling, require more attention. And if the 3.2 engine in combination with a five-speed automatic transmission is generally quite reliable with proper maintenance, then the state of the automatic transmission on a three-liter one is already a mystery. A more powerful automatic transmission of the 6T45 series will most likely have the same set of problems as the more common 6T40, but whether they will manifest themselves with a run of up to hundreds of thousands or require expensive repairs with runs over 150 is not yet clear.

Childhood diseases Chevrolet Captiva (2006-2011).

Chevrolet Captiva - was developed in 2006 based on the Opel Antara. The "affordable 7-seater crossover" was produced by GM in South Korea. Frame SUVs are rarely needed for the European market, but they treat SUVs more friendly here.

On the first "Captivas" for the Russian market, 2 gasoline engines were offered, the first 2.4 (136 horsepower) liters on the "mechanics" and 3.2 liters (230 horsepower) on the (hydro-transformer) automatic machine. The diesel engine and front-wheel drive were not supplied to the Russian market. The mixed appetite of the engine is 3.2 - 11.5 liters per 100 km, and 2.4 - 9.3 liters / 100 km, respectively (in reality, most likely higher). The dynamics are not impressive, the 3.2 power unit, with all its power, accelerates the car in 8.8 seconds to 100 km (the thoughtful machine is affecting), with the 2.4 engine, the Captiva gets to the first hundred in 11.5 seconds, not bad for 136 horses and a mass of more than 1700 kg ...

When the front wheels slip, four-wheel drive is activated through a multi-plate clutch. The imitation of "cross-wheel" locks is performed by the ESP and ABS system.

The front suspension is "MacPherson strut", the rear is the usual "multi-link". The suspension is stiff and roll.

In the salon of the Chevrolet Captiva, you will not find design delights and expensive materials, first of all the car was created "budgetary". The interior has soft plastic, well-thought-out ergonomics and in the "top modifications" you can choose a combined or leather interior and even a 7-seater version for family men. The fairly rich basic equipment includes four-wheel drive, 6 airbags, power accessories, power steering, air conditioning, ESP stabilization system, a CD-MP3 radio with steering wheel control and 17 inch alloy wheels, an option for hill descent assistance.

"Kapa", "Kapitosha", "Smoker" ... Here you don't even understand whether these are petting nicknames or derogatory ones. The Chevrolet Captiva, which will be discussed, really earned a lot of pluses in karma, but there are no less reasons for criticizing this car.

Origins

The Captiva name appeared on Chevrolet dealer price lists in 2006. This mid-size crossover was developed by GM South Korea in Incheon based on the GM Theta platform, and its direct predecessor was the Daewoo S3X concept presented in Paris in 2004.

The model was originally planned as a "worldwide" model: in Europe, India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, it was sold under the name Chevrolet Captiva, in South Korea - as Daewoo Winstorm, in Australia and New Zealand - as Holden Captiva. Captiva was produced by a number of factories: directly in South Korea (Incheon), Thailand (Royong), China (Shanghai), Vietnam (Hanoi), Uzbekistan (Asaka), Kazakhstan (Ust-Kamenogorsk) ... Captiva was also collected in Russia: first in Kaliningrad, and then at the GM plant in Shushary near St. Petersburg.

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-11

The crossover was offered both in a front-wheel drive version and with an automatically connected rear axle, it could be equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission and several engine options. Despite the moderate price, the model did not have much success in Russia due to poor dynamics, high fuel consumption and reliability problems.

The situation has improved somewhat after the Captiva underwent a major update in 2011, and we will talk about these cars. The front of the car was radically redesigned, new engines appeared under the hood (in the Russian Federation, the car was offered with a 2.4-liter Ecotec petrol four with a capacity of 167 hp, the newest V6 of the SIDI family with a capacity of 249 hp and 2 , A 2-liter turbodiesel developed by VM with a capacity of 184 hp). They could also be operated with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic 6T40.

Chevrolet Captiva '2011-13

Front-wheel drive versions did not take root in Russia, but the buyer could decide whether to buy a five-seater version or spend the extra 30,000 and take a car with three rows of seats. In principle, the prices for the Chevrolet Captiva could be called very democratic: the 2.4 MT version cost 990,000 rubles, the 2.2d MT - 1,145,000, the 2.2d AT - 1,165,000, and the top-end 3.0 AT - 1,260 000 rubles.

The release and sale of Captiva continued until 2015, when the concern announced the mothballing of the plant in Shushary and the withdrawal of the entire budget line from the Russian market. However, for those looking to buy a seven-seater crossover, used Chevrolet Captivas remain the most affordable option today. For cars of 2012 with mileage of 150-200 thousand kilometers, they ask for about 580-600 thousand rubles, and more recent copies of 2014 - 2015 with mileage less than 100 thousand are sold for 1,300,000 - 1,400,000 rubles.

Even during the period when it entered the Russian market, the updated Chevrolet Captiva received a very good press, and subsequently enjoyed moderate but steady demand. However, she could neither acquire the status of a cult model, nor get into the number of bestsellers. So what stopped her, why are the owners criticizing her, and what attracts her fans to her?

HATE # 5: STAFF SIGNALS AND CH

Chevrolet Captiva, by virtue of following world trends, is equipped with a central lock, standard alarm, and the engine is started by pressing a button. So, it is on these systems that there are quite a few complaints in the reviews. Then the car position sensor will break down, which should understand that the car has lifted the tow truck. Accordingly, "Kapa" starts to give an alarm signal all of a sudden.

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

However, since it was possible to find the reason for this behavior, it is not a problem. More often than not, the reason remains unknown, and neither the owners nor the employees of the services can find it. As a result, the simplest solution to the problem is the installation of an additional alarm, with the disabling of the standard howler. It is located under the battery, and you have to remove both the battery and the fuse box to get to it. It is not so easy to do this: you need to use a wrench with a long nozzle, otherwise nothing will work.

The algorithm of the standard anti-theft system is also very annoying. You must carry the keychain in your pocket, and God forbid you leave it in the car and get out! Exactly 10 seconds later, the doors will be locked, and you will have no choice but to run for spare keys. And if it happened at a gas station, far from home? The ignition off does not help: if you turn off the engine and exit, the alarm will raise a panic from any rustle, especially if one of the passengers remained in the cabin. In general, as one of the owners wrote, "Damn the engineer who invented it!"

LOVE # 5: APPEARANCE

Captiva is not one of the models who fall in love at first sight, and then forgive them all sins only because of their unique and inimitable appearance. Nevertheless, in the overwhelming majority of reviews, the appearance of the crossover after the update is rated very positively.

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

Indeed, in profile Captiva attracts with a swift silhouette, full face (after the update) - with aggressiveness and brutality. The front end still falls short of the fundamental facades of American SUVs, but you still feel that the designers have decided: named Chevrolet - be so kind as to match. It turned out very well.

THE MUD OF THE CAR LOOKS PEDIENTLY AND BEAUTIFUL, I LIKE IT VERY MUCH.

TAKES RESPECT ON THE ROAD BECAUSE OF ITS BRUTAL DESIGN.

But a teaspoon of ointment was not done without a teaspoon ...

Many reviewers believe that the rear of the car looks far from what it should be, that the stern does not really fit in with the powerful front end, and that in vain the designers did not radically change its design, almost completely borrowing it from dorestayl: “it's bad that the tailgate was left without changes". From the back, critics say, the car looks like an egg, and the only thing that slightly lessens the annoyance is the opening rear window. Owners find this design feature both convenient and practical.

HATE # 4: THE MEDIA SYSTEM

Probably, the words "the audio system on the Captiva has become the subject of burning hatred of the owners" would be a great exaggeration. Nevertheless, the "music" still earned its portion of criticism. So, the owners are perplexed why even in the top trim levels of the car of the middle of the second decade of the XXI century there is no built-in navigation, and why they cannot play music from a flash drive or SD card:

MAGNETOLA A-LA 90-E. HANDS WOULD CHOOSE THE ONE WHO CHOSE IT. 21 CENTURY, AND WE ALL WILL NOT LEAVE THE OLD IN ANY way!

Written in one of the reviews, this opinion can be called typical.

Plus, the head unit doesn't work very well either. Someone's display will burn out a month and a half after the car drove out of the passenger compartment gate, someone complains that the radio is just disgusting, and disabling auto-tuning, if it improved the situation, is not radically, but annoying someone. that you can switch (even with the buttons on the steering wheel, even on the radio tape recorder itself) from radio station to radio station only in one direction: forward - please, but backward - there is no such function. And this despite the fact that the sound of the media system is found by the owners to be very decent, and they are quite positive about the presence of a CD-changer for 6 discs and the presence of Bluetooth.

LOVE # 4: SPACIOUSNESS

And yet, after reading the mass of reviews, it is clearly felt that problems with Captiva electronics are annoying little things. This crossover is bought not because of its appearance, but as a family car that can be used every day, and in which you can take your family to the country or to the countryside with comfort and maximum safety.

The main thing that captivates the owners is the voluminous interior, in which not only the driver and front passenger, but also the rest of the inhabitants feel quite comfortable. On the second row - space, legs do not rest on the backs of the front seats. The floor in the cabin is flat, there is no transmission tunnel, so you can move in the second row almost standing. The back sofa itself is very wide, and it can easily accommodate two adults and a child car seat or two children in chairs and the owner's spouse. Getting in and out of the car is convenient.

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

True, a drop of ointment is also here: many owners write that the Captiva is dirty, and that getting out of the car without getting your pants dirty is a daunting task. But the dignity does not end on the first two rows! Unlike many other seven-seat crossovers, the Captiva's third row can accommodate two adult passengers. At the same time, they will not feel like shrimps tucked into a ping-pong ball:

ON THE BACK ROW, OF COURSE, THERE WAS PLANTED THOSE WHO LESS, BUT OVERCOME A THOUSAND KILOMETERS COMPLETELY COMFORTABLY.

CHILDREN ON THE THIRD ROW IS SO MUCH PLACES. FOR A SHORT DISTANCE I HAVE BEEN TRANSPORTED THEM 10 PERSONS.

But the owners are also impressed by the passenger capacity and the possibilities for the carriage of goods. The trunk is huge (it can hold 4 suitcases and a bunch of bags), and the leveling rear suspension keeps the clearance constant regardless of the load. Plus the ability to fold the second row and get a huge platform with a flat floor more than two meters long, which allows you to organize a comfortable sleeping place during field trips. By the way, the backrest of the front passenger seat leans forward, turning into a table with a plastic coating (however, we'll talk about this plastic later). In a word, complete delight:

EXPORTING FROM THE COTTAGE FOR ONE TIME PUP WITH ALL SCARB (PARENTS WILL UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S REALLY COOL) AND SCARB TEST. EVERYTHING GOT IN "KAPITONYCHA", UNDERSTAND, EVERYTHING! AND HERE I UNDERSTOOD THAT I LOVE THIS CAR!

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

Actually, some of the owners directly admit that the size of the trunk and the presence of roof rails have become a decisive factor when making a purchase decision.

But most of all, the owners are pleased not even with the volume as such, but with the abundance of various containers.

Firstly, the glove box has the function of cooling the drinks put there. Secondly, there are a lot of all kinds of niches, drawers and shelves, where all the minor little things like discount cards of gas stations and a pass to the garage cooperative are so conveniently placed. Thirdly, a completely bottomless box between the front seats (the absence of a handbrake lever made it possible to make this capacity really large):

IN HIS HAND IN GENERAL ELBOW LEAVES, IT IS POSSIBLE AND LOSE ANYTHING!

BOXING BETWEEN THE FRONT SEATS CAUSES ONLY THE WORDS "WHAT IT IS BIG AND CAPACITIVE".

It was even said that there were cases of smuggling in this compartment. Finally, the two-story trunk has earned full approval, under the raised floor of which there is an "entrance to the country of Narnia" with many convenient compartments, which allows you to put away all sorts of little things and, finally, put things in order in the luggage compartment.

HATE # 3: BODY RIGIDITY

But the joy that “everything will fit, absolutely everything” is spoiled by one circumstance. If, during loading and unloading operations, the car will not stand on a level platform, but will run over, say, with one rear wheel on a hillock (and there are different circumstances in life - you will have to climb into the trunk both at the dacha, and when going to a picnic, and in the city in winter, even in the parking lot in front of a completely civilian store, ice bumps of a serious size may form), then you will open the trunk, but you may not be able to close it.

OPENED THE TRUNK BUT COULD NOT CLOSE IT. MORE EXACTLY, IT WAS CLOSED, BUT THE LOCK DOESN'T LOCK. THOUGHT THE CASTLE BROKEN OR FROZEN, RIDED OUT ON A FLAT SURFACE - CLOSED WITHOUT PROBLEMS. VISIBLY THE BODY OF THE CAR IS SUCH.

There are a lot of reviews about problems of this kind, so it seems that the Chevrolet Captiva does have certain problems with torsional rigidity. In theory, this flaw should have led to serious problems with handling, but no - most owners assess it quite positively, mentioning only in the worst case some ambiguity in the response to steering actions. It looks like the car's developers were able to compensate for the lack of stiffness with good suspension settings.

LOVE # 3: BEHAVIOR ON THE ROAD

Indeed, on the road, the Chevrolet Captiva mostly pleases its owners. Firstly, almost no one expresses their dissatisfaction with the dynamics of the car. Of course, no one expects special agility from the car - after all, it is a crossover, not a sports coupe, but it does not make its owners strangers at the holiday of road life, and this applies to all variants of power plants. Yes, the 2.4-liter engine accelerates the car a little worse, the 2.2-liter diesel a little better, but in general, the dynamics are more than enough for city driving. Acceleration from the spot is very vigorous, the car literally jumps forward, so joining the stream or rebuilding is not a problem.

Chevrolet Captiva '2011-13

On the highway, at speeds over 90 km / h, acceleration loses its intensity, but in general there are no problems with overtaking at reasonable speeds. The automatic transmission shifts gears quickly and almost imperceptibly. With a kickdown, there is a slight delay, then the motor spins up to 5 thousand, and a powerful acceleration follows. But if you press the gas pedal halfway (or so), then the gears are not reset, and the acceleration is due to the torque. Naturally, there is no delay, the revs do not rise sharply, but the car obediently “follows the pedal”. What is nice, acceleration "on the moment" is also provided by the petrol "four", and the diesel does not really care whether it accelerates from 0 to 100 or from 100 to 180.

Braking dynamics is also quite consistent with acceleration.

THERE WAS A CASE WHEN I WALKED 180, AND THERE IS AN OBSTACLE ON THE ROUTE GENERATED. WELL, I THINK, I WON'T HAVE TO STOP! I TAKE A MEETING AND BRAKE IN THE FLOOR. AND WHAT WAS MY SURPRISE WHEN SHE STOPPED IN COUNTED SECONDS, WITHOUT REACHING AN OBSTACLE!

As for the suspension, firstly, the owners like its energy intensity:

THE SUSPENSION IS EXACTLY FOR OUR ROADS, IT IS UNREALABLE TO PUNCH IT, EATS UP ALL PITS AND UNEQUALITIES.

SUSPENSION ENERGY AND LONG-RUNNING SUFFICIENTLY, ALLOWS TO PASS "Lying POLICE OFFICERS" WITHOUT SLOWING SPEED. FOR ALL THE TIME OF OPERATION - NOT A SINGLE BREAKDOWN.

And secondly, its settings provide excellent trajectory stability at high speeds and predictability in turns, even in difficult conditions - for example, on a snowy track. One of the owners recalls:

ON THE RETURN WAY I HAVE FALLED IN A SNOWFALL. HAD TO OVERCOME ON REVERSIBLE, AT 400-800 M, AND THEY IN THE SNOW. IN FRONT OF ME KIA CEED YUZILA, A LITTLE LEAVE TO THE MEETING, BUT THE KAPA WENT LIKE IRON. SNOW IN 5 CM DEPTH I JUST DIDN'T notice. SPEEDED FROM 80 KM / H TO 120 WELL SO VERY REVO.

Naturally, in this case, this speaks not only of the correct suspension settings, but also of the effective operation of the all-wheel drive system and ESP. Indeed, driving a Chevrolet Captiva into a skid is not easy at any speed.

HATE # 2: GASOLINE CONSUMPTION

As for the economy of the Chevrolet Captiva, here, as they say, "the opinions of scientists are divided." Diesel owners are generally satisfied. At times they grumble that the consumption in the city could be less, although 10-11 l / 100 km can be called a quite acceptable indicator (especially considering that in this case Captiva with heavy fuel engines is both more powerful and more dynamic than petrol counterparts ).

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

But the owners of the most budgetary (and therefore the most massive) options with a 2.4-liter gasoline "four" with a capacity of 167 hp quite amicably express their indignation at the excessive gluttony of their cars:

CONSUMPTION OF GASOLINE, WITH 95, MUCH MORE STATED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I CAN SAY WITH CONFIDENCE THAT IT IS NO LESS THAN 17.5 LITERS PER HUNDRED IN THE CITY, AND SOMETIMES MUCH MORE. ON THE ROUTE - ABOUT 11.5, IN MIXED MODE - 12.5-13 L / 100 KM. IN THE BEGINNING I THOUGHT THAT SUCH A GREAT CONSUMPTION WILL BE ONLY DURING THE BREAK-IN PERIOD OF THE CAR, BUT NOTHING LIKE. EATS - MOTHER DO NOT BURN!

FUEL CONSUMPTION IS A SEPARATE TALE. DRIVING IN THE CITY, WITHOUT JAMS: ON THE SUMMER RUBBER - ABOUT 15 LITERS, ON THE WINTER RUBBER - ABOUT 17 L / 100 KM. RIDING STYLE MODERATE. AT THIS ON-BOARD COMPUTER LOWERS CONSUMPTION ON AVERAGE BY 2 LITERS PER HUNDRED. TANK VOLUME - 65 L, AND IN CONNECTION WITH THIS BECOME A FREQUENT VISITOR OF THE REFUEL.

THE ENGINE IS VERY GORGEOUS, READY TO TAKE PLUGGES IN AND UP TO 20 L PER HUNDRED. ON THE ROUTE AND DEPENDING ON THE SPEED - 13, Srednegorodskaya - 15 L / 100 KM.

Although someone thinks that for a car weighing under two tons, this is quite normal ...

LOVE # 2: PASSANCE

Of course, the bar for evaluating the cross-country ability of any crossover will seriously differ from those criteria by which professional off-road conquerors are assessed. It is quite enough for the owners of crossovers that their cars allow them to boldly drive off the asphalt, overcome the notorious "last kilometer" on the way to the dacha, and park in yards covered with deep snow without any problems.

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

Actually, she is capable of more:

I DIDN'T RESPOND WHEN I WENT TO THE DACHA - I CLEARED INTO A SWIMMED AND BLURED FIELD. NEITHER DUSTER, NOR HONDA CR-V, NOR TIGUAN - NOBODY GETTING HERE .. AND I RIDED PERFECTLY, NO PROBLEMS HAPPENED. THE TRUTH, I DID THE ENTIRE CAR IN THE TRASH, WASHED AFTER THREE HOURS….

IN DEEP DEPTHS RACKS LIKE A BULLDOZER. SOMETHING I KNEW THE SLIDING CLAY, TRYING TO CLIMB UP A STEEP HILL WITH A TURN. RUBBER SMOKE, THE MACHINE ROARED, THERE WAS ATTEMPTED FIVE, BUT WE HAVE STARTED!

WHEN MOSCOW BROKEN IN FEBRUARY, MANY COULD NOT LEAVE THEIR CARS TO WORK. I HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO OBSERVE THE SCALE OF THE DISASTER IN THE PARKING PARKING. REAR WHEEL CARS WERE ABSOLUTE THRESH, COULD NOT LEAVE EVEN FROM THE PARKING SPACE, BUT THE FRONT DRIVE WAS ALSO UNSUFFICIENT. And I calmly got out of the deep forest, I didn’t get stuck, and in the evening I returned to the hole.

But there are certain features that limit the Captiva's flotation. First, the "lower lip" of the front bumper. In discussions on the forums, the owners came to the general opinion that it is better to remove this part immediately, because otherwise there is a very high risk of damaging it on some ice hillock or parking near a high curb, and, which is a shame, two other parts that make up the bumper. The reviews describe more than one such case ... But dismantling this part is rather inconvenient:

I DON'T KNOW WHAT SMART INTELLIGENT IT TO FASTEN THIS .. HALF OF THE "LIPS" IS FIXED WITH SELF-CUTTING CUTTINGS OUTSIDE, SO IN PRINCIPLE I DIDN'T HAVE SPECIAL WORK TO UNLOCK THEM, BUT THERE ARE SECOND HALF OF THE LIPS. WHY THERE IS THIS - I DON'T UNDERSTAND SO THIS TIME ...

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

In very many reviews, the authors express regret that the control of the all-wheel drive system does not provide for the forced locking of the clutch, which is responsible for connecting the rear axle. The collective intelligence proposes such a solution based on "undocumented possibilities": put the automatic transmission selector into manual mode and select 1st gear. In this mode, the clutch is locked and the vehicle engages both axles. Alas, this "little trick" only works when moving forward, so an attempt to crawl on an icy curb in reverse may fail.

HATE # 1: PARTS QUALITY AND RELIABILITY

Alas, Captiva is not one of the boring cars, about which they basically write that "for the entire period of operation, I only changed consumables." The list of faults encountered by the owners is very, very extensive. We have done a separate article about the typical problems of running Captiva, here we will dwell on them briefly.

The transfer case turned out to be a rather problematic unit. A new one costs about 270,000 rubles, and it is not easy to find a live unit during dismantling. Owners of cars with a manual transmission complain about the low clutch survivability ("if you skid a little, it burns right away").

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

Engines cause a lot of problems. Diesels suffer from oil leakage from the oil pan and periodic failure of the injectors, and a stuck in the open position of the nozzle leads to the clogging of the particulate filter and the intercooler hoses to break. Gasoline engines require replacement of the timing chain with rollers, tensioners and dampers approximately every 30,000 kilometers. Often the exhaust manifold causes problems.

Suspension is a whole complex of problems and sores, some of which are associated with assembly defects (such as an unscrewed anti-roll bar attachment nut), and some are simply related to the quality of the components. Dampers of shock absorbers and silent blocks of levers, wheel bearings regularly fail (in this case, the hub assembly has to be replaced).

Often, a starter is replaced, and at one time GM conducted a revocable campaign associated with a design defect and melting of the power wire leading to the starter and the solenoid relay. Alas, as it often happens with us, this information has not reached all the owners.

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

As a result, in many reviews, there is serious discontent with the overall level of reliability:

I OWN A CAR FOR THREE YEARS, CAREFUL OPERATION. PRACTICALLY DID NOT GO ON DIRT ROADS, RIDE EMPTY, BUT IN THREE YEARS I CHANGED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TWICE FOR THE CAUSE OF A CONSTRUCTIVE FAILURE, TWICE - THE TIMING CHAIN, ROLLERS AND ACCELERATORS IN THE SUSPENSION. REPLACING THE ACP JUST BROKEN INSIDE. REPLACEMENT OF ABS SENSORS ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT WHEELS. FOR 80,000 FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS (GLASS) WERE SUITABLE FOR REPLACEMENT. THERE WERE ELECTRONIC GLITCHES. AND ALL THIS - WHEN OPERATING A NEW CAR FOR THREE YEARS. It is scary to imagine what will happen when everything else starts to fall asleep.

There are quite a few complaints about problems that do not seem to affect the speed, but at the same time are able to bring the owner to white heat. For example, in the reviews they complain about weak and completely non-impact-resistant windshields and side windows, which are “scratched even by dust,” that the plastic in the cabin is very easily scratched and loses its appearance, especially on the back surface of the front seat backs, to the failing rear window washers (and a typical case looks like this: the motor buzzes, and the liquid is not supplied due to the fact that somewhere in the bowels of the car a hose has jumped off), the fact that the eyeglass case in the upper part simply takes out the brain by constant tapping (“I had to give him a roll of toilet paper, apparently while chewing and silent”) ... In a word, reliability does not belong to the strengths of the model.

LOVE # 1: COMFORT AND PRICE

Well, the owners consider the general level of comfort to be the main advantage of the Chevrolet Captiva. We have already talked about the two components that create this comfort, namely the volume of the cabin and the smoothness of the ride. But ergonomics is no less important: everything is in place and at hand in the cabin, the ergonomics are excellent, the fit does not cause any complaints, the adjustment ranges of the chair and steering wheel are sufficient, the buttons and adjustments are conveniently located. The front panel is soft, the imitation leather in the cabin is beautiful and durable. In general, stories that, they say, “drove 1,000 kilometers almost without stopping and was not tired” can be found in many reviews. The only thing some car owners complain about is that the gas and brake pedals are too far apart in height, so it's not very convenient to move your foot from pedal to pedal.

Chevrolet Captiva '2006-16

The optional filling also earned full approval: heated rear seats, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, sunroof, power front seats, power windows, interior mirror with auto-dimming, rain sensor and much more. Of course, someone may grumble that a car of this class would definitely benefit from a heated steering wheel and windshield, adaptive cruise control, a more modern audio system and slightly better noise isolation. But most likely, then the owners would not be able to write that "Captiva is the maximum comfort for a minimum of money."

Indeed, at a time when GM had not yet left the Russian market, and the model was officially sold in showrooms, crossovers of comparable class and capacity, subject to matching trim levels, cost at least 300,000 rubles more. And 300,000 is a serious incentive to close our eyes to quite obvious shortcomings, especially since there are also no less striking advantages.

The Chevrolet Captiva was first presented at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. Its production began in 2006. The mid-size crossover was developed by the South Korean division of General Motors. In-house designation of the S-100 model. In 2011, an updated version of the Captiva C-140 was presented.

Engines

Chevrolet Captiva was supplied to the Russian market with two gasoline engines - a 4-cylinder 2.4 l (136 hp) and a 3.2 l V6 (230 hp). In general, both motors are quite reliable.

The younger 2.4 liter, with a mileage of more than 60 - 90 thousand km, often requires replacing the thermostat. This will be indicated by the arrow of the temperature gauge, which is located below the usual position. A new original thermostat costs about 2,000 rubles, an analogue costs about 1,200 rubles. After 100 thousand km, the rear crankshaft oil seals begin to "snot".

The timing mechanism on this engine is belt-driven. The first replacement is prescribed by the regulations for 120 thousand km, but many services recommend doing it for 90 thousand km, with a subsequent replacement every 60 thousand km. Several owners ran into trouble - a broken belt and bent valves.

The 3.2 liter engine has a timing chain drive. But you should not rely on his eternity. Pulling the chain with a run of more than 80 - 100 thousand km is a common phenomenon. At the same time, there are Captivas who have ridden 140 - 160 thousand km without problems with the chain. The first signs of the need to replace the chain are errors in the on-board computer and a decrease in engine thrust. At the same time, the motor continues to work steadily, without extraneous noise. It is not worth tightening with the replacement of the chain - during the further operation of the engines, the chain jumped by 1-2 teeth. More often after this, it is possible to get by with a little blood, and the engine simply stops starting. Official dealers in the post-warranty period ask for work with spare parts from 40 to 60 thousand rubles. In ordinary services, you will have to pay about 10 thousand rubles for work, and components will require about 8 thousand rubles. Often the oil pressure sensor also needs to be replaced. The original one will cost 4 thousand rubles, the analogue - about 1 thousand rubles.

Oil leakage from under the valve cover or oil in the candle wells is a frequent occurrence for a 2.4 liter engine with a mileage of more than 30-60 thousand km. On a 3.2 engine, this happens less often.

Transmission

There are no complaints about the reliability of the Chevrolet Captiva manual transmission. By and large, the "machine" also raises no objections. But with a mileage of more than 100 thousand km, several owners were faced with the appearance of twitching after the box warmed up. In all cases, the intervention of specialists and the repair of the "machine" were required.

Current drive seals are fairly common on Captivas with both types of gearboxes. On cars manufactured in 2007 - 2008 with an automatic transmission, there is a structural defect in the internal oil seal of the right hand drive of the transfer case. The repair will require about 2.5 - 5 thousand rubles.

With a mileage of more than 60 - 80 thousand km, especially after a long overcoming "off-road", it often turns the cardan outboard bearing in a rubber base. This will be indicated by the vibration that appears at the initial moment of the start of movement after stopping. Replacement of a faulty unit is made complete with a cardan, the cost of which is about 35-40 thousand rubles, for a used one - about 20 thousand rubles. Many people replace the suspension directly, picking up an analogue from other cars, for example, BMW X5 or Sobol.

Often the rear gearbox oil seal begins to leak. The original oil seals will pull 5-6 thousand rubles per pair, the work on replacing them will cost 2 thousand rubles. Some owners of Chevrolet Captiva manage to pick up an analogue from Toyota for 300 - 500 rubles apiece.

Undercarriage

The front stabilizer struts begin to knock after 30-40 thousand km. Original ones cost about 800 - 900 rubles, analogs are half the price - 300 - 400 rubles. Front stabilizer bushings run longer - 80 - 100 thousand km. With a mileage of more than 60 - 100 thousand km, it may be necessary to replace the front wheel bearings (2.5 - 4 thousand rubles), which are assembled with the hub. By this time, the front shock absorbers may begin to tap and "sweat". Silent blocks of levers surrender after 100 - 120 thousand km.

The steering rack of the Chevrolet Captiva often starts knocking when the vehicle is driven over 40-60 thousand km. By this time, a knock may appear in the steering shaft cardan. Leaks often occur at the joints of the pipes of the power steering system. In cold weather, there are frequent cases of rupture of the hydraulic booster return hose, which can lead to failure of the power steering pump (6-7 thousand rubles).

ABS sensors, especially the rear ones, often require replacement after 80 - 100 thousand km. Official dealers offer new sensors for 4500 rubles, in the auto parts store the original will be available for 3000 rubles, but you can also find an analogue for 800 rubles. Front brake pads run more than 30-50 thousand km (650 rubles per set). Rear brake pads serve more than 80 thousand km. Front brake discs run more than 100 - 120 thousand km (2-3 thousand rubles per disc). Rear brake discs last even longer (1.5-2 thousand rubles).

Other problems and malfunctions

The weak link in the bodywork of the Chevrolet Captiva is the rear tailgate, which can bloom after two to three years of operation. Over time, the chrome trim on the rear door also begins to "give in". The emblem on the radiator grille also often peels off.

There may be problems with the rear window washer motor. In addition, the hose for supplying washer fluid to the tailgate glass in the rear of the Chevrolet Captiva is often disconnected. The reason for the hanging of the wiper blades in the middle of the windshield is a failed motor microswitch. Dealers offer a new motor for 8,000 rubles, but you can revive it by replacing a faulty microswitch (300 rubles).

Problems with the Chevrolet Captiva electrics often arise due to poor contacts in the connectors or an open circuit. So the loss of engine thrust and the ignition of alarm indicators can occur due to "loosening" of the contacts on the engine control unit.

The airbag malfunction indicator illuminates due to oxidation of the connector pins under the plastic trim of the front and rear left sills. Often, a simple procedure for juggling the connector under the front passenger seat helps.

If incorrect readings of the fuel level indicator appear, it is enough to check the connector under the power steering reservoir, which goes to the fuse box. Sometimes the connector on the ECM (engine controller) is the culprit.

Over time, backrest backlash may appear on power seats, and the armrest between the front seats may start to creak.

Condensation can accumulate in the space between the roof and the headliner and run down into the lampshades or into the area of the ceiling clips near the tailgate.

If you use a washer with frozen liquid, then the fuse in the block - under the left foot of the front passenger - will certainly blow.

Problems can arise with the clock in the salon, which begins to fade or go astray. "Officials" replace faulty watches with new ones. At the end of the warranty, specialists engaged in the repair of electrical equipment will be able to repair the watch for 500 rubles.

The reason for the sudden discharge of the battery is the slowly "dying" diode bridge on the generator. The new officials offer it for 4-5 thousand rubles, on the side you can buy an analogue for 2.5 thousand rubles.

Conclusion

As you can see, the Chevrolet Captiva practically does not cause serious problems. Basically, all the troubles are just "children's sores", which are easy to get rid of.

So
Let's start with the fact that a captiva is a lot of car for little money. At a price similar to the kia sportage in the old body, the Tucson - captiva is really bigger than them. In size, it comes in the same weight category as Santa Fe. Naturally, in such cars as kuga, cx5, tiguan, rav4, crv there is less space than in captiva, but they are more and more expensive. There are seven-seater configurations (I have just such) on the third row passengers of my build quite easily fit, my height is 183 cm, I don't rest on my knees. The trunk is large, if you fold the second row of seats, it transforms into just a huge trunk with a flat floor where you can easily throw a double air mattress and a tent - you don't need to sleep with the whole family or transport apartments When buying between Antara and Captiva, the choice was made in favor of the latter -for the trunk (7 seats) and appearance. I also considered santa fe, for the same money the car was 2 years older. crv, tiguan, rav4, kuga all cost at least one hundred square meters more for the same year of manufacture, or even more. Tucson and sportage in the old body are slightly cheaper than the captiva. The fact that the price, as already noted, is significantly lower than classmates is most likely due to the fact that the captiva is a hard-sell car, there is an opinion on the captiva club that you can sell the captiva immediately after the purchase and just when there is a buyer - you will sell it in a couple of years and it you will have time to get bored

The disadvantages of 3.2l caps are mainly financial:
3.2l - tax 17250 per year, consumption 18-20l in the city (in winter 30 easy), 11 on the highway.
oil change 7.4l - if you take mobile1 oil, then it is 5 tr. only for oil + filter 300 rubles
6 pots - 6 candles
OSAGO with a 50% discount - 5+ tr.
Well, as I already wrote a tank of 65 liters is enough for 300 km in the city and this is 2000 tr.
The most important minus: 3.2l have a factory sore in the form of stretching timing chains, if 2.4 are honest 120t.km drive. before changing the belt, then at 3.2 it was possible to get to the replacement of chains on a new wheelbarrow after 20t.km. mileage. The price at the old dollar rate was 18 tr. spare parts + 10 tr. Job. And they say that after the replacement, you can travel 50 t.km. and then again get replaced, because the chains are plasticine and stretch.

pluses: 230 hp, acceleration to 100 km / h in less than 9 seconds, instant acceleration from 100 km / h to 160 km / h on the highway when overtaking, you don't even notice how 160 is typed on the speedometer.

Disadvantages of 2.4 liters: They do not go stupidly, 2.4 liters 136 hp on the machine - a vegetable. At the same time, the appetite is not weak, because the car weighs 2 tons with a driver and a full tank of gasoline. It is hard for this engine to carry one - the consumption in the city is 15 liters per hundred square meters. On the mechanics, everything is simpler, the weak point of the clutch - they often burn it, again, a large mass affects.

General Pros Cons:

* All-wheel drive system - plus in the city, minus off-road. Permanent front-wheel drive with connected rear drive when front wheels slip. There are simply no hard locks and downgrades. Those. the car is designed to get high in snowfalls in the city and to park in small drifts at the entrance. In serious off-road conditions, you should not even meddle on it. on the same Tucson there is a lever 2wd \ 4wd \ auto here it is stupidly not there, everything is decided for you by automation.
* Clearance 20cm there are no complaints here
* 6-10 airbags depending on the configuration
* Electrically adjustable driver's seat
* head optics dipped beam lensed, china-xenon is set quite normally and is adequately tuned, there are tumanki.
* Hodovka is no more expensive than classmates, the front rack took at the old rate for 2 tr. piece. The rear dampers are self-adjusting, i.e. no matter how much load the ass will not sink. But if the price dies in the region of 30k apiece.
* They write that the weak point of the rake, I have with a run of 95 t.km. while ugh 3 times there are no problems. The original costs $ 300 inexpensively for comparison to the antara, in fact the same car, and the rake costs $ 1000
* Automatic transmission - the Japanese aisin is installed, when changing the oil every 60 t.km. run 200+ t.km. and do not cause problems. But in the manual of the captiva, the clever men wrote that the oil service life is designed for the entire service life of the car and there are such comrades who, after listening to the dealer, do not change the oil 100 t.km. and more, in the end there is shoe polish in the box - and the boxes wedge by 120-130 t.km. repair 70k. rubles and above.
* After 5 years of ownership, an electrician may begin to bother, for example, rear parking sensors like to die and squeak just like that, but I consider the fact that it is in all trim levels a plus. 1 sensor costs about 2.5 tr.
* The salon is huge, the second row of seats is very comfortable. The width is also full of space. For example, I now have 2 britax evolva 1-2-3 plus child seats - one of the widest armchairs + my wife can fit. The wife would not have fit into the puzoter. The upholstery can be fabric, leatherette (5 seats or 7 seats), combined leather + fabric (7 seats). 7seat completely with leather interior does not exist (not supplied to the Russian market)
* Plus the fact that even in the minimum configuration there is ABS, ESP, parking sensors, full power accessories and at least 6 airbags, Power mirrors, Heated mirrors, Multifunctional steering wheel, etc.

When compared with puzoterki: the clearance is higher, there is more space, the car is heavier, but due to the constant front-wheel drive, the captiva drives like a regular passenger car, the only thing in the snow in the corners is not to forget about the plug-in tail and not to press the gazer all the way, otherwise the ass will be carried away But and the maintenance costs are higher: the consumption is higher, the same wheels of 16-18 radius and tires are more expensive (a set of hakki 18 with a radius of 50+ rubles) and tire fitting. But there is increased cross-country ability and capacity.

I have written a lot, if there is anything interesting, ask me, I will answer

zs Well, and on the topic do not take: If you like the car and does not frighten the flow rate is higher than that of the posters, you can take it. 2.4 on the machine is of course dull, but for the city it will do. I was still testing the new 2.4 167hp mouthpiece. on the machine - it is already more jovial, although it is also necessary to turn the engine so that it travels adequately. And due to sores with chains and a large tax, the joke is that 3.2l are sold cheaper than 2.4l, although they initially cost 20-30 percent more. At 3.2l, the maximum grade is always available, i.e. these are 18th wheels, BC, 10 pillows, "leather" interior, tumanki, etc.
7-seater saloon is an option, it can be both on the simplest captive with a stirrer and at maximum speed.

If you still take 3.2l., Then you need to buy from the owner, well, or at least in the trade-in department with a normal service book in order to distinguish the history of the car. Only the owner can tell you whether the chains changed or not, when he last changed the oil in the box, who drives a lot on 3.2, they often put HBO - it pays off quickly. If you take it in the salon or from outbid - the probability of getting hit is high. And 2.4L on the mechanics - there is nothing special to break, check the rail, hodovka, shoot the body with a thickness gauge and go to form

If you can find a captiva with a real mileage of up to 60 t.km. why not take it from the owner, in terms of comfort it will be no worse than classmates and cheaper, fresher in mileage. Outlander and Wed-V are both expensive in the service staff, if the Wed-in is a relatively problem-free car, then out-of-the-box if you don't take 3.0 motor drive the variator.
x-trail again translate the variator if the engine is not 2.5, although in terms of the volume of the cabin they are close to each other with the captiva.
CVTs with mileage 100+ t.km I would not take

Forester - here is an honest machine and a real permanent all-wheel drive adequate. It is, of course, much smaller than the captive in terms of the interior volume of the cabin - in fact, it is a lifted station wagon, and it weighs a little more than a puzoter. But if you need just an adequate four-wheel drive, you need to take forika from all of the above. Foriki 08-12 years are quite reliable cars, it's a pity only the machine goes 4-mortar - on the track it is not very comfortable at high speeds.
